Her first time as a special was at the Dalmatian club of Detroit Specialty where she was BOS, the next two days, she was BOB! Tilley was shown sparingly in 2011, she became a multiple group winner during 2011. Finishing Number 12 in 2011.

Tilley gardnered multiple breeds and group placements on the Florida circuit this year. She was also BOB at the Greater Indianaplis Dal Club specialty on Feb 11, 2012. Not bad for a young girl just 2 and ½ years old! She is pictured on the cover winning the 2012 TOP 20 at the Dalmatian Club of America Specialty. Thank you to Judges, Terry Wissinger, Doris Cozart and Brenda Combs. This was truly a dream come true. Lightning does strike twice!!! Tilley’s grandfather, MBISS MBIS Ch. Bret D Sergeant Major was DCA’s TOP 20 winner in 2009.

My Day with Dogs.......... I spend my day with a compilation of other people’s pets. My daycare is different because I provide daily training at no additional charge. After all I’m sitting there watching them play I might as well tax both our brains and throw in some training. The reality is that most people don’t have a clue on how to train a dog. I watch some of the owners barking out commands or even worse, allowing what we consider bad behavior to continue with out any reaction whether it be good or bad. It wasn’t until I started this business that I realized how well behaved my dogs were and they are Dalmatians! The biggest problem that dogs encounter is the fact that people don’t understand them. I ask my clients all the time how would you greet someone if you didn’t have any hands or arms? Dogs jump for attention and to welcome you and while it might be cute in a puppy when a lab is 90 lbs and they jump it is going to be dangerous. The owners of the little dogs never consider not allowing them to jump. I think they

want something and temperaments that makes a Dalmatian look laid back. Can’t imagine how these dogs got to be one of the most poplar breeds? The miniature poodle while not a shedder needs constant grooming and clipping. Seems as though springs were attached to his body instead of legs and he is quite the little vocalizer in terms of barking and whining.
The Shiba is a huge shedder and if he were human I’m sure he’d be on Valium. Very smart and while I work to prevent him from jumping his owner doesn’t seem to mind. He will literally carry on for hours when he’s put in a crate and if left too long will have a full blown panic attack. Having only owned Dalmatians for the last 28 years I find it interesting to observe the different breeds. Bear in mind that I am making my observations based on the dogs that attend my day care. I have 3 Golden Retrievers and none of them have a clue about walking on a leash and their favorite pass time is jumping on people!!! Nothing but a pile of fur, choosing to bark when they

who’s face is so flat the poor little thing has to have its face touching the floor to smell. She also has plenty of eye issues because of the folds around her eyes and the fact that her eyeballs are practically touching the ground. What a shrieking noise she makes! It sounds like she’s being murdered. She is a tough little thing who is actually a little dog aggressive towards big dogs.
The Min Pin truly believes he’s a big dog and talk about wired! He is fairly new to daycare. However his owners want him well trained so they have invested some time any money to get him on the right track. He lives in a very high energy home but in just a few days we have collaborated and have him sitting with a clicker and offering us a quiet behavior before he gets any attention. And then there are the two lab sisters. One yellow and one black, different in temperament and personality as night and day. While they are very easy to train they are also very big, shed all the time and are big slobs when it comes to the water bucket!!!! I could wash
my floors with what they dribble out of the bucket. And remember what goes in must come out which makes them giant pee machines. We could only hope our dals would drink and pee so much! Last but not least I have 3 other mixed breeds. Not considered designer dogs but rather adopted from shelters. They are probably the most laid back and most willing to please. I wonder why???? Do they know how lucky they are? I often wonder if someone asked me to suggest a breed of dog what would I say? Because the reality is that without a good training background no dog will make a great pet. So at the risk of sounding biased I am delighted to go home at night and spend my evening with my Dalmatians who sleep quietly in their crates, do their fair share of shedding and barking at trespassers but they don’t jump on people unless asked to. Not a breed for the faint of heart but then is any dog that isn’t trained? by Karen McNamara
