Foreword
The gesture of bringing artists together is as simple as it is grand. At the very core of democracy lies the dialogic impulse, a logic based on getting to know one another and the myriad possibilities and relationships that can emerge. The book you are holding is an introduction to a family of friends from France, and another from Spain. Elena Aitzkoa, Benoît Piéron, Nora Aurrekoetxea, Elsa Brès, Lucía Bayón, Marie-Luce Nadal, Pablo Capitán del Río, Salomé Chatriot, Aleix Plademunt, Yoan Sorin. Why do we call them a “family”, when they might not even know each other? Well, the dream of Pilar Forcada — the founder of Art Situacions — was to create an encounter, and, by doing so, produce a deep, loving bond among all the artists taking part in this project, in this book.
