Bangalow travel presentation On Tuesday 15 May 2018 at Bangalow Bowlo, Kathryn Watson from Travel Managers will be hosting a travel presentation by a number of firms. Refreshments will be provided, discounts and specials will be available, and you might win a lucky door prize.

‘I also provide 24/7 support in the event of an emergency while you are away. Having travelled to more than 40 countries worldwide myself, I can both appreciate not only the joys, but also the challenges that my clients may encounter while travelling,’ she says. ‘When designing a holiday, attention to detail is what makes the difference, and that’s where I come in. Taking care of not only the big things, but also the small details that make a holiday truly unique. A website cannot give you this same level of personalised service.’ Presentations will be by: Bunnik Tours: they offer small group tours with a maximum of just 20 passengers, allowing you to connect with people, places and culture and enjoy more immersive experiences that are difficult to access when travelling alone and logistically impossible for a large tour group. Uniworld: they feature luxurious ships with an average capacity of 130 guests, including shore excursions, worldclass cuisine, and personalised hospitality. As the world’s only authentic boutique cruise line Uniworld claims to have

Do you love local food and unique food-farm experiences? One of the highlights of this year’s Harvest Food Festival will be the inaugural Harvest Food Trail. Our local food organisation Northern Rivers Food (NRF) says, ‘Part of enjoying the food, is knowing the story… understanding where your food was grown, the sustainable methods used to grow or produce the food, the farmer who grew and brought the food to market or the local baker who lovingly baked the bread. We all love the back story! ‘Harvest Food Trails is a self-drive foodie experience where you can jump into your car and leisurely enjoy the whole farm-to-plate experience. We have a very tasty lineup of local producers, farmers and restaurants who are offering a food and farm experience for you for the whole weekend.’

‘Travel has always been one of my greatest passions,’ says Kathryn, ‘and after many years working as a travel agent on the Sunshine Coast, I recently relocated to Bangalow where I am now operating a mobile service within Bangalow and the Byron Shire.’ Kathryn offers a full range of travel services, including but not limited to flights, accommodation, coach tours, rail, cruises, car hire, sightseeing, travel insurance, and especially tailor-made itineraries.

Bruno Loubet special dinner

Clean energy Story & photo by S Haslam Feeling a little tired by 3pm on Friday in Byron, I was attracted by the ‘clean energy’ claim for the Yerba Mate drink in Elixiba, near the roundabout off Jonson St. The mate managed to do what the double espressos had failed to do – give me another lift in energy, but make me feel good at the same time. It’s said to offer the strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate in one beverage. It also came in an interesting ‘plant-like’ glass. Big thumbs up from me. After nine years in the UK, celebrated chef Bruno Loubet is back in Queensland and searching for a location to open a cookery school. But first, he joins Harvest for a one-off Wild Harvest dinner exploring and showcasing Australia’s native ingredients. Head chef Alastair Waddell and forager Peter Hardwick are looking forward to commemorating his return in the humble village of Newrybar. French chef Bruno Loubet had a successful career in London during the 90s before moving to Queensland in 2002. He is famed for his critically acclaimed restaurants Bruno’s Tables in Toowong, Berardo’s in Noosa, and Baguette in Brisbane (2002–2008), and more recently in London for Bistrot Bruno Loubet and the vegetable-focused Grain Store (2008–2017).
