ATMOSPHERE OF LANDSCAPE

R O

Those of us lucky enough to live on the north coast of NSW understand why artists are inspired by the natural world. Nature’s spectacle provides an unlimited source of inspiration that all of us at some point have played witness to, those moments when a crisp early morning sunlight skips across the sprawling fields of pastoral grasslands dotted with wild daisies like a tide of spectral light, or a physically tangible heat reflects off the coastal landscape to create a translucent mirror-like veil seemingly through mid-air.

3 WILD WOMEN 3 Wild Women is an exhibition by Ann Belle, Tara Planet and Philippa Leader. Philippa’s work concentrates on depicting nudes in a contemporary domestic environment based on the Ignudi frescoes by Michelangelo. Ann’s works portray ideas of genetic shared human memory, comparative mythology, and the relationship between the subconscious and conscious mind. Tara’s work picks up on the patterning of forms both natural and organic. On show at the Roxy Gallery in Kyogle until 29 August.
