Moo Poo for You It’s springtime, so get your garden growing! Cow manure enriches the soil, gently feeding and nourishing plants while encouraging earthworm activity and increasing moisture retention. Work it generously into the soil when you are establishing new garden beds, or apply a 5cm deep layer to existing gardens. Healthy soil means happy, healthy plants, and that means fewer pests and diseases for you to worry about. Top up the mulch on garden beds to help conserve moisture and suppress weeds. BFA certified organic sugarcane mulch is ideal for herb and vegetable gardens. You can also use it on ornamental gardens. Be generous when mulching – you need a reasonable depth for it to do its job properly. Keep the mulch away from the stems of plants. Water thoroughly after fertilising and mulching, and then water only as required.
