LAMINATED BASKETBALL CONSTRUCTION
A type of basketball where panels of leather, composite leather or synthetics are fixed onto a rubber carcass by hand. This technique is used for our indoor and indoor/outdoor basketballs.

A type of basketball where the entire outer surface is produced together with the molding of the carcass. Spalding Basketballs are well known, where is the team wear idea from? Timo Fleischmann: Spalding is a worldwide known sporting goods brand having the heritage and unique expertise on basketball products. With the successful history of Spalding basketballs it only made sense to carry the core philosophy of the Spalding brand forward into team sports and providing the same high quality, performance equipment for basketball players. Our team wear textile and equipment product range is based on the same values and visions, to create and offer a perfect range of products to support athletes to reach their goals and improve their performance.
How does Spalding create its product range? Timo Fleischmann: There is a variety of expectations from individual athletes, clubs and organizations towards our Spalding team wear products. Individual athletes want high performance and authentic products supporting their gameplay, clubs and organizations are looking for a reliable partner providing a perfect service and product range for their competitions. Being official partner of many national teams and top clubs within our markets but also being close to where the game happens at, for example grass root events and camps, we always value the honest feedback that we collect to improve our products according to the athlete’s demand. Learning from the experiences made and creating new, innovative ideas, we expand and improve our product range year by year.
What is your position regarding the discussion about the global textile industry? Timo Fleischmann: Fruit of the Loom Inc., the parent company of Spalding, is proactively involved in activities targeting the preservation of our environment and conservation of the world’s natural resources. The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility provides an integral view of business and society, to run a competitive and profitable business and at the same time adding value to the communities. We are operating with worldwide facilities in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations that are environmentally friendly and economically viable. In addition, we are dedicated to educate and encourage our employees in environmental responsibilities that are required for the preservation of natural resources. Spalding has definitely set new dimensions and highest possible standards. With being aware of that discussion on a global stage, this has the same validation for us. All factories we are using today for apparel productions have been approved to require these high standards.
What are your goals? Timo Fleischmann: Our main objectives are to grow basketball as a sport in Europe and drag out Spalding as a brand on a higher level in the European markets. It is our responsibility being a reliable partner in the basketball business with providing high quality products to the players and our customers. Therefore, it will be necessary to stay in the leadership of functional basketball apparel that meets the highest expectations. The target will be to develop and improve that product range continuously to grow the basketball business and keep Spalding the no.1 basketball brand in the mind of people related to that great sport.

Timo Fleischmann: We have always been keen on providing the best products to athletes which is based on using quality fabrics that meet the highest standards for our textiles. Our apparel range offer to the market has been increased and developed over the past 12 years, and is the sum of experience in the sport, consistency and new product ideas. With providing pleasant designs in a sufficient variety on team sport color ways and possessing a well-balanced, fitting size run, we are covering any demand from high performance athletes down to beginner’s basketball. Our focus is not only on evolving a generic team line, but also directing our efforts to meet the special requirements of women’s basketball and kids gear. In the team sport business today, we have understood the importance of high product availability all over the season as well as an outstanding service on finishing and personalization.
