I’ll state my request right up front: We are looking for support from regional & national technology companies for our robotics and engineering club. The Eaglesnest Robotics is a 501 (c)(3) Non Profit educational outreach organization, based in Rhode Island. We have adopted the FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) programs as an activity arm to help carry out our goals at Eaglesnest Robotics. This year we have launched two Teams that will be taken to Competition. They will meet for Team times weekly to prepare for the 2012 FIRST® LEGO® SENIOR SOLUTIONS™ and SUPER SENIORS™ Challenges. Why this program is critical to your company’s future. The club runs under a program called FIRST® , founded 14 years ago by Dean Kamen (of Segway Scooter fame). His goal was to create a program in which young students with a strong interest in technology and engineering could get the same type of encouragement that students get in organized sports.

Who Supports US First? National Contributors Global corporations including, Boston Scientific Corporation, Baxter Interna‐ tional, Inc., DaimlerChrysler Corpora‐ tion Fund, Dean Kamen’s DEKA Re‐ search and Development Corporation, Delphi Corporation, General Motors Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Mo‐ torola, Inc., XEROX Corporation, Auto‐

The Program Has National Support and Value

Dean Kamen has achieved his goal. FIRST® now has more than 200,000 global participants with programs serving children ages 6-18. More than one hundred colleges offer scholarships to students who have participated in a FIRST® program. Many of the participants who started at the beginning are now employed by these corporations. The FIRST® program and competitions provide one of the best, if not the best, platform for young people to get excited about the challenges and rewards of engineering. They are pushed to the limit on every level: project management, design, research, testing, strategic planning, and more. I expect to look back four or five years from now and see many of our early participants in the workplace providing the innovative solutions we need to maintain our competitive edge. I encourage you to take a few minutes to consider our request. 1. Scan the next three pages. It will give you an overview of Eaglesnest Robotic Club and FIRST® for 2012 2. Then consider assisting us in our work to develop future engineers. What are we looking for? We need to raise $1500 total in preparation for the State competition in Jan 2013. Our teams need new equipment including a laptops, tools, and additional robotics components. They also need to pay for Tournaments fees and travel expenses to help us achieve our goals. I look forward to hearing from you. Please call me with any questions you may have. What is Eaglesnest Robotics? The Eaglesnest Robotics is a 501 (c)(3) Non Profit educational outreach organization, based in Rhode Island. Using the 4th R in education, Robotics, we teach our students early robotics skills. Using the program, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST®) as an activity arm, we are able to practice what we have learned in robotics on the competition platform. This year have launched 2 FIRST® robotics teams. A Jr. FIRST® LEGO® League Team (Ages 6-9), and a FIRST® LEGO® League Team (Ages 9-14).

We are Exploring young Minds through Science and Technology by giving our students: • a fundamental education and experience in collegiate robotics involving

Our 2010 FLL Team– Robosapiens

Research-finding a problem and identifying a solution using creative thinking and teamwork

Team management– understand teamwork and the benefit of complimentary skills

Project management-Gain expertise in core project management skills and methods using robotics.

Robotic Design

An opportunity to, Experience the hard work of funding our projects through external support resources.

This Years Challenges: FLL/JFLL (First® Lego® League & Junior First® Lego® League): In the 2012 Senior Solutions™ and Super Seniors™ challenges, over 200,000 students, ages 6-14, from more than 60 countries will explore the topic of aging and how it may affect a person’s ability to maintain his or her lifestyle – solving issues like getting around, keeping in touch, or staying fit. Teams will research obstacles and then suggest ways to improve the quality of life for the seniors affected. Teams will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® robot to solve a set of missions on an obstacle course.

“Exploring young minds through Science and Technology”

Why you should consider supporting our efforts. These children are our future. This is without a doubt one of the most challenging, engaging programs you will find. Your support will make a huge difference in the future of these bright, engaged and creative young minds.
