Advanced Fine Arts Photography (BUS 1191 W1)

Join national award winner, Bill Cooper as he walks you through the artistic approach of photography. This course will focus on what the artist sees instead of what the camera sees. He will refresh the students with the basic fundamentals of photography and the equipment in the first couple of sessions. The remaining sessions will include introduction to advanced fine art photography. Students should have a camera and some knowledge of photography. This class will provide an introduction to the presentation program, Microsoft PowerPoint. This fun course will teach you the art of creating knives. Learn techniques to help design and craft a custom knife through the use of common hand tools. Basic Design (ART 1313 C1)

This course focuses on the basic design concepts, elements, investigation of color, and principles of art. Emphasis will be put on projects in basic three-dimensional design. Painting I (ART 2013 C1)/ Painting II (ART 2313 C1) Students will use acrylic paints to create a still life, self-portrait, and landscapes. Beginners will learn basic techniques. Advanced students can experiment with new techniques or sharpen their art skills. Students will learn the basics of watercolor techniques such as transparency, composition, basic color theory, and value. Students will work hands on helping to develop a personal style of watercolor paintings. Mixed Media (ART 2003 C1)

This course focuses on the combinations of two or more media in the creation of groups of related images. Starting with collages, combining various media such as watercolor, acrylic, pastel, photo montage and other materials that will help students understand how and why artists use mixed media while creating three small series of work. Repurposing Furniture (CON 1011 C1)

Do you have old furniture? Don’t throw it away! Learn the fundamentals and safe use of hand tools and power tools to refinish, restore, and repair that old furniture to make it look new again. This course is a low impact water workout for all levels that includes cardio, muscle strengthening, and balance exercises. This class takes place in the shallow end of the pool. Yoga

Yoga is designed to connect the mind and body. Instructors will lead participants to focus on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Conditioning

The first half of the class is geared toward cardiovascular improvement. The second half of the class is weightlifting with small dumbbells. Students are required to have a yoga mat and their own small dumbbells. Zumba (HPR 1421 C1)

Zumba joins high energy movements with dance combinations to achieve a full body workout. Zumba helps tone, sculpt, and burn fat while blending exercises such as squats, knee lifts, and bicep curls. Students will work all major muscle groups including legs, chest, back, shoulders, and arms with increasing amounts of resistance. Students will also cover the basics of nutrition. Self Defense (HPR 1211 C1)

This fun and informational-packed class presents the skills you need to disable an assailant and escape an assault. This hands-on course is designed to emphasize confidence and self-discipline while developing and enhancing options for self-defense. Under the guidance of experienced instructor April Hood, you will learn a full range of self-defense techniques, including awareness, assault deterrence, and setting verbal boundaries. Don’t miss out on learning these basic steps to protecting yourself. Specialty Classes Sign Language (SPE 2001 C1)

Learn to communicate in the manual-visual mode and receive instruction in learning the alphabet, vocabulary, whole number system, and elementary conversation. Instructor Mary Helen Winkler has designed this class for individuals interested in learning to communicate with the hearing-impaired using the total communication approach. Line Dancing

Put on your dancing shoes and let’s get to dancing! Dancing is one of the best activities for the heart, the mind, and the soul. Instructor, Wanda Walker, will lead the way to learn all those fun dance moves from country to hip-hop. Line Dancing helps to prevent dementia and helps make your memory stronger. These classes are private instruction classes. They typically meet one-half hour or one hour per week. All applied class instruction courses require five hours of practice per week for every half-hour of individual instruction. Lab fee is $25 for one-half hour per week and $50 for a one-hour per week. Personal Interests & Senior Sage AR Concealed Carry Course

Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor, Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify to conceal a handgun with a permit (license). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the requirements of Arkansas Act 419 of 1995. Participants must be 21 years of age and a resident of the State of Arkansas. Saturday, April 4th 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Fee: $60 (New), $40 (Renewal) Classroom Building 1-107

Crime Scene Photography (CJS 2063 C1)

Do you love to watch CSI or the ID channel? Then, this class is for you! Learn law enforcement photography techniques and step-by-step instruction in preparing photographs for courtroom presentation. AR Enhanced Concealed Carry Course

Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify for an enhanced concealed carry license (E-CHCL). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the 2017 changes to A.C.A. §§ 5-73-101 to -324. The E-CHCL gives a licensee the ability to carry and possess a concealed handgun in more locations than the standard AR CHCL. The course training requirements are significantly more detailed and in-depth compared to the standard AR CHCL with more detailed classroom training in aspects of self-defense with a firearm, as well as a minimum accuracy on timed live-fire qualification requirements. Participants must be 21 years of age and a resident of the State of Arkansas. In addition, participants must already possess an Arkansas CHCL or must complete the basic Arkansas Concealed Carry class first. Concurrent Classes Attention High School Students: Get a head start on your college career! Concurrent credit is a great way for high school students to earn both college credit and high school credit simultaneously. Concurrent enrollment is the enrollment of a high school student in post-secondary education for high school credit and college-level credit (1000 and 2000 level courses). This program is designed for students in grades 9th-12th. Students apply for admission to EACC and once admitted, have the opportunity to take full advantage of this unique opportunity to learn. EACC will provide qualified instructors at your school or online, or the school district may provide appropriately credentialed instructors according to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) standards. “I have now been taking concurrent college classes for three years. I would definitely say this has helped me so much to shorten the amount of time I will spend in college in the future. When I graduate high school I will also graduate from EACC with my associate’s degee. I am very thankful for the opportunity to start college early.” - Concurrent High School Student

Professional Development EMT CEU Training (EMT 1501 CE)

This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 20 hours of refresher training. Information provided assists Arkansas certified or nationally registered EMT-Basic to meet re-certification requirements. Pre-registration is required. Welding Principles 101 (MCH 1101 C1)

Equipment problems can halt even the best operations while you spend precious time and money searching for a suitable mechanic. This basic welding program can teach you the skills to make many of those repairs on your own. This course is designed to teach the safety and basic knowledge in welding. It will provide a basic introduction to oxyfuel, plasma, carbon arc cutting, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding process. This course will help you better understand how to maintain and repair equipment properly and quickly. Registration

Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, and early registration is encouraged. Please note that fees are due upon registration to reserve a space in a class. A student is not officially enrolled in a class until payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

A 100% refund is given when a course is cancelled by the College. EACC reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Mailed refunds are usually received within two to three weeks.

Refunds

A transferable voucher may be given for the amount of the class if a student cancels 48 hours prior to the start of the class.

All students must register and pay all course fees prior to the first day of class.

Community Education classes will not meet on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20th) or Spring Break (March 23rd - 27th)
