Give your guests plenty of notice so they can start planning for your wedding ahead of time. It’s best to send save the date cards 9 months in advance. If you’re having a wedding close to home 6 months is also acceptable, but if you’re planning a wedding abroad, it’s best to let your guests know as soon as possible with a save the date card detailing your name, date and venue. The wedding invite will follow the save the date card. This is your chance to communicate all the important information about your event, whether it’s the type of ceremony, times or menu options. Don’t forget to include an RSVP card and reply envelope or simply ask to confirm attendance via text! The best time to send out your invites is 2 to 3 months before the event but preferably 6 months before a destination wedding.
Let your guests know how much you appreciated them being there to celebrate you on your special day. Send out thank you cards after the event. This is a small gesture that will surely be treasured. Send these out between 1 month to 3 after your event.

Cindy & Franklyn Said “I do” amid the chic setting of a romantic French castle…
Against all odds, we had a wonderfully elegant wedding in August 2020. We followed our gut feeling and went ahead with our nuptials in the middle of the pandemic, and lucky enough, we had no particular restrictions at that time. If we had not felt so strongly about going ahead with the wedding despite the global situation, our celebration would have not turned out as perfectly as it did. Our beautiful venue was suggested by a friend who also happens to be a wedding planner. During Covid, everything was closed and we needed a vision to move forward. We were able to visit Chateau Le Roncemay in person, which turned out to be exactly what we envisioned for our big day. We wanted our wedding to have an intimate feel and we decided on an outdoor soiree for all of our friends and family to enjoy. We had 78 of our nearest and dearest, and we are so grateful for our friends who came to support us. This day meant so much to us and our families, and even the people who could not attend had a big part in making it a special experience for us. Cindy has always wanted a truly personalised dress. After a few fittings, she connected with Tasya Talitha who really understood her style and perfectly designed what she desired.

We see the dress daily because the owner exhibits it as a piece of art. We warmly recommend her. I already had my eye on a brand for my suit. I spotted it whilst at work - I’m a wedding photographer. Rives Paris stole my heart with their approach to bespoke work. I knew they would meet my expectations. The most special moment of the day was when Cindy walked down the aisle and the instant when her father gave me his blessing. This meant a lot to me. In this, there was a symbol of transferring what he invested in his daughter and of how much he trusted her with me. Another unforgettable moment was our first dance, a very simple but emotional occasion. We knew exactly why we connected and fell in love, and we could not have celebrated in a better way.

celebrated their love with a beach wedding in Sicily… We originally wanted to marry on our anniversary day, the 7th of September 2019, but when the venue had no availability, we opted for the 14th of September instead. I wanted a beach wedding and a relaxed setting with beautiful views, and our venue had it all. An intimate and romantic wedding was imperative for us. We had 35 guests come to Taormina, and it was a perfect number for the small celebration we imagined. I wanted the amazing “Italian Riviera vibes” and an “al fresco style”, and that’s exactly what we had thanks to our professional wedding planner and exquisite venue. I just wanted a relaxed setting with elegant colours: whites, green, beige and a touch of gold. When it came to choosing my outfit, I knew I was going to wear a Galia Lahav dress years before I met my husband. Originally, I imagined wearing a princess gown but after trying them on, I realized it wasn’t my style. Galia herself recommended me to try “the one’’, and I fell in love with it in a second - it wasn’t hard to decide at all. It was a heavy dress because of the thousands of hand-sewn beads, but I felt like the most beautiful and sexy woman with it on. I had all the wedding nerves of course, but overall, It was a beautiful morning shared with the most important people in our lives. We enjoyed every second of it, even if it went by so quickly! It was emotional, and the most special moment was seeing my partner waiting for me at the end of the aisle. We could not have been happier with our suppliers, they all had a huge part in making our day extra special. Something very important was having a live band. We wanted everyone to dance and sing along. Our first dance was to “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion - it was a magical moment I’ll always cherish!

tied the knot in the heart of downtown Memphis… Our wedding was a gathering of family and friends and we picked a date that was suitable for everyone, especially for those travelling with children from far away. We got married on August 7th 2021, and we had a huge celebration with 200 guests. We wanted to invite everyone; we both have big families and our goal was to share this day with all of the close and extended relatives, nobody excluded. The beautiful historic building we picked for our celebration was the Cadre, a perfect event space oozing elegance and a modern feel. We opted for a black tie theme and decorated the venue with lush white roses and gold accents, creating a refined ambience. We tried to make our wedding day our own by redefining traditions, for example, I walked down the aisle by the sound of Ocean by Karol G, istead of a traditional wedding song. We felt so excited about celebrating with our loved ones and tried to soak in every little moment. The pandemic had us all worried but we tried to make the best of it. I went dress shopping only with my maid-of-honour and my mum, it ended up being a great decision to have fewer opinions. I ended up picking a beautifully embroidered hip-hugging mermaid dress with a long veil - it was perfection all in one gown! Walking down the aisle, seeing all of the smiles of our guests and heading towards the altar were the most memorable moments of our big day!

escaped to Italy and exchanged vows in Positano… We were very flexible with our wedding date. We wanted to elope and share a romantic moment between the two of us. We found the perfect location that ticked all the boxes for us. We wanted a fairytale setting with a scenic backdrop - Positano had just that! We married surrounded by the sea with a dramatic view - it was picture-perfect! Even though we decided to elope, we still wanted our wedding to be memorable, so we made sure to pick great suppliers to help us make the day happen. Our photographer was amazing, and truly captured the essence of our wedding day. Our wedding was emotional, we both had time to get ready like a true bride and groom, something we don’t do very often. I got my hair and makeup done, and I felt like a bride. My dress made me feel special, it was more than what I could have ever imagined. The best part of the day was sitting and having our dinner on the beautiful terrace of L’Incanto. It was romantic and it’s a memory we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. We packed the day with activities, from eating ice cream to taking a boat ride around the coast. married in the picture-perfect Portuguese countryside… After a romantic proposal during a relaxing candlelight dinner over Lake Zurich, we decided to choose our wedding date in October as the weather would not be as hot for us and our guests to enjoy. We wanted to make the most of the beautiful venue we picked for our celebration. We originally planned to marry in Tuscany, Italy, but could not find the perfect place. At the end of 2017, we decided to take a last-minute holiday to Portugal, staying at the newly opened Sao Lourenco Do Barrocal. Immediately, we both looked at each other and said “this is the place… do you think we could get married here?” We met the hotel’s director the next day and toured the venue, enjoyed the food and wine, fell in love with it and booked it within a few weeks. The venue oozes refinement whilst maintaining a countryside retreat vibe, exactly what we were looking for. We had 70 people attend the wedding. We felt that it was a nice intimate number and enough to have a great weekend and party! Our wedding day was relaxing and emotional. We woke up with breakfast served on the terraces of our cottages with our separate wedding parties. Then spent the day cycling through the vineyards, in the sauna and hot tub of the spa and relaxing by the pool before putting on our suits and coming together again prior to walking the aisle with one another. Patrick was very anxious about the forecast and it did rain just before our ceremony and continued throughout, but with the most wonderful result of a double rainbow

in our wedding photos, plus it is good luck for it to rain on your wedding day! The day was extremely emotional. It was so perfect to look out at the room full of 70 of our nearest and dearest and think that they are all here for us, celebrating us and our love, with the backdrop of dreams. We wanted the feel and look of the day to be understated luxury with simple tablescapes of natural flora from the hotel grounds. For our personal style, we chose outfits that were traditional but with a modern touch. We opted for a black tuxedo and one with an off-white jacket from a tailor in Amsterdam where we live, each paired with Christian Louboutin patent leather slip on shoes. We have two particular moments that we will cherish forever. Thanks to our photographer Adriana we managed to capture the most iconic pictures amidst the rain shower with two rainbows crossing the sky. Another beautiful memory is our first dance to “Turning Page" by Sleeping at Last; the lyrics of this song really tell the story of our relationship.

Sustainability - Besides the innovative and striking designs they conjure up, one thing that is key in their practices is their respect for the environment. Michal Kowalski and Michael Dariane share a real love for nature and they aim to make weddings more sustainable. Refreshingly, Blooming Haus have noticed the issue of sustainability is playing a bigger part in weddings and floral styling in general. Floral foam, which is not a biodegradable and compostable product, is slowly being phased out in place of more sustainable practices. The more complicated designs, such as elevated centrepieces, or suspended arrangements, now have to be thought through more carefully to avoid using damaging products. This is where an experienced floral studio is imperative. Moreover, couples realise that sourcing seasonal spring flowers in winter, such as peonies, involves importing them from thousands of miles away. The reason for choosing seasonal flowers other than just cost reduction is changing too. Local sourcing is key to keeping carbon footprint down. If anything has come out of the pandemic it is that people seem to be more in tune with nature, which can only be a good thing.

Colour Blocking – This year, opposites attract, no soft contrasts, instead colours are blocked together. Michal stretches this further to create a concept of floral blocking where the same kind and type of flowers are blocked together to create visibly strong contrasts. Couples are more receptive to exploring and taking colours in the opposite direction. Daring and beautiful hues will complement soft bridal gowns and make a real statement. Bold yellows, which for a wedding suitably symbolise happiness and warmth, complemented by dark chocolate browns are what they expect to see this year. Michal believes this concept will become more and more popular.

Flowers - This year, quicksand roses will be in the spotlight. In terms of colour, we’ll see more dusty and muddy hues as well as toneddown colours such as pastels. Flowers with more texture such as hellebores, lilac, cosmos are also trending. As weddings become more personal so do bouquets and floral styles. Bouquets have become less tight and symmetric in structure. Organic, flowing and cascading styles have risen in popularity. The same will apply to flower arrangements. Research the designer! Dive into their portfolio and see what they have delivered before in their career. A good designer will be able to showcase not only nice pictures but also unique wedding concepts. And, I will let you in on a little secret: it is not so much about finding a designer that has a style you might like, but it is rather about finding a designer who is versatile enough to adapt to your needs. Because it means that he or she can translate each couple’s personality better. A good designer can pick out the distinct signs of personality and still not lose elements of his or her signature style in the process.

If you go for a big wedding or a destination wedding, for instance, one of the most important things you have to consider is the capacity of that designer to choose the right collaborators, the right production company, oftentimes in a foreign environment. In this respect, again, a designer’s portfolio can offer a lot of information that can guide you in your decision. For instance, if you have a designer who has worked all over the world, you can be certain that a destination wedding will not be a problem, while if you have a local florist who has rarely worked outside of their geographical area, that might constitute as a challenging project to take on.

I would point out that part of the communication process between you and the designer you choose is to make sure you are being asked questions. The right questions! I always advise my clients to be open to answering questions because there are so many things involved in floral design, starting from care and handling, to choosing the right botanicals, to building sturdy structures and implementing beautiful colour harmonies into the concept. LAZIO Castellina de Miremont is one of the most appealing private residences in Lazio and it’s just a stone’s throw away from the Italian capital, Rome. We picked Hotel Savoia for our time in Positano. A beautiful, family-run hotel with breathtaking views across the Amalfi coast.
Which places did you visit? During our time in Italy, we managed to visit numerous destinations: Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Ravello, Naples, and Rome.
What did you eat? Neapolitan pizza, gnocchi, lots of gelatos, the typical sfogliatelle, and we loved the seafood pasta options.
