But sadly, many of these old images are in rough shape, either because of neglect, accidents, or just the passage of time. Fortunately, it is often possible to use digital editing software to restore old photographs, repairing any damaged, smudged, or discoloured areas. After a high resolution digital copy of a photograph is created, treasured, aged photographs can be given new life and preserved for future generations. Newer photos can be corrected, enhanced, and even combined with others to create the perfect image. In giclée printing, original paintings, drawings and other artworks are digitally scanned. Then, the computerized images are sent to sophisticated ink jet printers, which reproduce the images onto canvas or archival heavy weight bond paper. The resulting image is very high quality, with colour close to the original that will last many years. At J&S Picture Frame Warehouse we will not only print scanned artwork onto canvas, but we will do laminating and stretching of the finished canvas.
