Laser Spine Institute gets PGA TOUR golfer Peter Jacobsen back on course quickly. You never know when back pain will get you, but it’s always lurking ready to ruin your fun. Like when you twist into the driver’s seat of your favorite supercharged two-seater or as you’re teeing it up. Yes, chronic back pain can keep you from enjoying all the best that life has to offer. That’s when a friend of the golfer told him about the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Florida. This narrowing impinges the nerves surrounding the spinal cord, causing pain, numbness, tingling, and weakening of the muscles. instruments to release the nerve, in turn, releasing the pain. It is an example of the back and neck surgeries performed at LSI that are all minimally invasive and endoscopic, with no general anesthesia or hospital stay needed. No fewer than one-half dozen auction records were broken making new ultimate values for only the very best cars. The bulk of the market was quiet, but very healthy. Gone are the days of “irrational exuberance” forcing prices for anything with curb appeal into the soon-to-fall stratosphere. Further, junk was selling for reduced junk prices. Homes, according to our sources, were much the same. There were relatively few bargain hunters that pursued deals. The very top-quality homes, with provenance, and “uniqueness” received steady action and some sales. Records were most likely not broken to any great extent. Over the next year, low interest rates will help the luxury homes market but not push it to new records by any means. Quite easily one can assume that, like cars, junk will sell for junk prices… maybe. Buyers are much, much more discerning. The key here, like cars, is supply. The number of classic, luxury, and exotic cars has not gone down. Nor has the number of truly luxurious homes. The number of buyers has. How to get in front of the buyers is what’s important. It’s no longer, show it and they will come. It is necessary to do something that differentiates the property from the rest. Surely, a two-inch square photo with twenty-five words of copy in the back of a newspaper says nothing about how special a property is. A cover image or two-page spread in the pages of the duPont REGISTRY™ clearly does. Think about it. The automobile market is on the way to improvement. The luxury homes market cannot be far behind. The waterfront options might seem endless, choosing from the New England coast, across to the California cliffs, down to the Florida beaches, and back up to the Southern lakeshores, but the availability of such places is finite. For the first time in years, buyers are being handed deals on silver platters, and they are starting to take advantage of what’s being offered. The market is in the palm of your hand. THE REAL DEAL Commonly referred to as the O.C., Orange County is famous for its many oceanfront cities. Varying from the close-knit community of San Clemente to the low-key beach cottages of Laguna Beach to the extravagant estates of Newport Beach, each city offers different experiences and environments yet with one common thread—waterfront property. “Waterfront homes’ prices finally adjusted so you can get some really good deals,” says Lee Ann Canaday of Canaday Group/ RE/MAX Fine Homes, owner of the RE/MAX franchise in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. “The deal is not just with the price but with lower tax bases too.” Among one of the many of Canaday’s good deals is an 8,000square-foot oceanfront estate with six bedrooms and five-anda-half baths in San Clemente. Canaday says this property is unique because it is in a gate-guarded community, which is very rare anymore for oceanfront properties, and it has a pool

FEEDING THE SOUL Some real estate practitioners are seeing that attractive prices and a wealth of options are bringing prospects who have been waiting for the bottom of the market. Such is the case for Gary Lohrman, who believes that the
