welcome! Here at the college we understand that everyone has their own goals and ambitions. Large or small, to the individual they are important. That’s why we make sure we provide a place where students can thrive and grow by taking steps toward personal goals for their education and career. We are ambitious for our students, working with them to achieve excellence. But that excellence is not a ‘one size fits all’ solution. apprenticeships You’re hired! Get experience, get qualified and get paid Do you want to start a great career, earn money whilst learning and pick up recognised qualifications at the same time? Apprentices do real jobs for real employers, meaning you can continue your education and gain essential workplace experience, whilst earning a wage too!

Gain real workplace experience, develop professional skills and get the training you need to progress in

The ultimate employment preparation

Apprentices really do get the best of both worlds. On the job you earn a wage from day one and gain valuable practical experience in your chosen profession. At the same time, you continue your training and education, gaining recognised industry qualifications such as NVQs (QCF) and technical certificates such as BTECs or diplomas through the college.

Making it work for you

You will have your own programme of learning designed to suit you and your employer. Learning is often work-based, however you may come to college on day release, block release or receive one-to-one tuition. You will get great support from your College assessor who will meet you in the workplace, as well as with your employer to ensure they are providing you with the best possible learning environment. Your apprenticeship will start at a level that suits you, either Intermediate (Level 2), or Advanced (Level 3). Entry requirements vary depending on the industry and qualifications involved so it’s worth getting in touch with an advisor to find out more. With a programme taking on average 1-2 years to complete however, the most important thing is that you have a passion and determination to succeed in your chosen industry and new career.

Where will an apprenticeship take you?

Apprenticeships are a great first step on the career ladder but the benefits to you don’t stop there. You will have real work experience, qualifications and employer references that will set you above the rest when applying for jobs in the future. At the end of your apprenticeship you could continue working and progressing up the career ladder, move up to a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4/5), or even go on into higher education at APPLY NOW college or university.

cAsE sTUDY MAIsIE FARRELL – bUsINEss ENTERPRIsE GRADUATE I started the course not really knowing what type of job or business I would like to work in afterwards. It was during an assignment that asked us to research our dream career that I realised what area I wanted to specialise in. My chosen dream job, as a buyer in the fashion industry, is now becoming a reality as I moved on from college to study Fashion Buying and Merchandising at university.

In my first few lectures that I realised how essential the things that I learned at college actually were. All the terminology that I never thought sank in suddenly all came back to me and I understood what the lecturer was saying! Studying business is great because you can go onto work in an industry you’re interested in. I would love to own my own fashion label one day but that’s a long term ambition. At the moment I am happy that I am at university and working towards a job that was once only a ‘dream career’, you can’t ask for more than that!
