RESIDENTS MINGLED AND JINGLED AT FIRST EVER CHRISTMAS EVENT Enjoying the festive cheer amongst like-minded people.

O

ur festive Mingle and Jingle event in December was a big hit with residents and prospective buyers alike. Visitors were invited to enjoy delicious home made mince pies and mulled wine while they joined in the festivities with Durrants Village staff and were entertained by pupils from nearby Colgate Primary School who sang a selection of beautiful carols and Christmas songs. The event was a great opportunity for prospective buyers to have a taste of what community life is like at Durrants Village – with like-

minded people coming together to have fun and share good times. We’d like to thank everybody who came along and helped to make it such an enjoyable experience and we hope to have a similar event this year in the clubhouse.

urrants Village has been abuzz with activity over the last year with many new residents moving in and more than twenty homes now occupied. It’s wonderful to see the village community taking shape with many new friendships being formed. Recent highlights include our popular coffee mornings and our festive Mingle and Jingle event in December. We also welcomed the Rt Hon Francis Maude, Member of Parliament for Horsham, who took time out of his busy schedule to open our beautiful show apartment at Agates House. 2015 is set to be an even busier year as we welcome yet more new residents, unveil further show homes and celebrate the opening of our village shop and spectacular clubhouse. Developments such as Durrants Village are becoming increasingly popular in the UK, as more people realise that moving into a retirement property doesn’t have to mean giving up your independence or standard of living. At Durrants Village we’ve adopted our proven formula for a successful retirement village, offering the active, independent and social lifestyle that we know is cherished by our residents. We hope you enjoy our first newsletter and please do get in touch if you have any feedback for us or would like further information about Durrants Village. Iwan Jones, Managing Director

THE APARTMENT PROVED SO POPULAR THAT IT WAS SNAPPED UP IN NO TIME

SHOW APARTMENT UNVEILED BY RT. HON FRANCIS MAUDE MP Our first show apartment at Durrants Village was declared officially open last year by the Rt Hon Francis Maude, Member of Parliament for Horsham, and Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General.

T

he Agates House apartment reflected the high quality finish and tasteful, contemporary design of all Renaissance Villages properties. Many people commented on the attractive colour scheme and homely, yet sophisticated feel of the apartment. In fact, it proved so popular that it was snapped up in no time and we’ve since unveiled a second show apartment, which has also now been sold!

BAT HOUSE READY FOR NEW RESIDENTS

R

enaissance Villages is committed to helping preserve the UK’s wildlife and as part of this commitment we have installed a large bat roost at Durrants Village. Bat houses help provide a secure habitat for bats, which means a safe and secure home where they can roost during the day and raise their young. The Durrants Village bat house is regularly surveyed to monitor for any new bat activity. Our Maintenance Supervisor, John Porter, giving the bat house a new lick of paint.

DID YOU KNOW?

All UK bats eat insects. Eac h species has its favourite types and hunts them in its own special way. Most insects are caught and eat en in mid-air, though bats sometimes find it easier to hang up to eat larger pre y. All bats have very big appetites, because flying uses up lots of energy. A common pipistrelle can eat over 3,000 tiny insects in a single night!
