YOU SPOKE, WE LISTENED

I am not a “New Year’ s resolution” type of guy, I am a bit more of a “get it done” type of guy. And right now there are a great many things that need to be done. I swore to myself that I would be driving my 68 Camaro by the end of the year. Sure it starts, but it still needs a lot of work to be roadworthy. I have made more progress on it in the last couple of weeks than the last couple of years. I am lucky to have some good friends whoAt have helped along the way and The Auto Gallery, wecontinue like to do so. 2018 was a great year. Motor4Toys was a huge success because of all of you. Fifteen years we have been doing it. We have helped so many kids. I do not know how many toys we collected and distributed yet as we are still playing The reason I mention James is that the magazine is ready to print, a weight catchup with our “normal” lives, but I would guess that it is well over the 60,000 Beverly Hills of happy kids. BENTLEY

THE ALL NEW CONTINENTAL AND CONTINENTAL GTC ARTICLE AND PHOTOS BY BARRETT MITCHELL

There always seems to be something going on in Hollywood, CA. and this evening was no different. At an undisclosed location on a quiet Monday night in November, Bentley would be dropping the veil on their latest bespoke stunner, the all new redesigned Bentley Continental GTC (Grand Touring Convertible). Now I want to impress upon you the significance of the term “redesign” here as at its predecessor, the Continental GT, had not been given any significant change in 15 years. Now most might not see that as a big deal but let's remember that most manufactures will retool a design every 5 years, 6 at most. So to release something they are to be proud of the world of Bentley knew this new GT had to be something special. At this point in the game Bentley has been turning out world-class bespoke luxury coming up on 100 years in 2019. So it comes as no surprise that when they finally unveiled the new GTC it did not disappoint. The lucky few individuals whom have been waiting patiently for this latest offering are coming to their wits end as some have been on the waiting list for almost 2 years. Soon the wait will be over as Bentley has claimed they will have the first GT units delivered to North America by early summer 2019 and GTC by end of summer 2019. A long time admittedly to wait but good things take time and this all new GT does not disappoint. Bentley not being new to the marketing game has wisely decided to start the model year as the “2020” GT/GTC. Its buyers being of discerning taste and scrutiny never to

drivenworld...8

be outdone would have to have the latest and greatest so it only made sense to skip model year 2019 and go straight in to the future. Before we jump in the drivers seat one must study the GT from every angle. To the untrained eye it may only seem slightly different but there in lies the charm. A Bentley redesign isn’t supposed to be a radical change, it is supposed to be an older and wiser version of its ancestor. The chassis is now two inches longer allowing for better leg room followed by a visually spectacular display from the headlights reminiscent of a crystal whiskey glass. The attention to detail seems to know no end as they have even gone so far as to laser cut a tiny “B” into the center of the outer headlight. Once inside you are greeted by an opulent amount of leather that 14 cows gave their life for while you sit back and select one of five massaging seat functions. Newly offered this model year is stunning diamond knurling effect on metal surfaces, such as switches, dials, and bezels, that create a very special tactile feel of quality. There are of course many rare veneers such as one wood found only in a particular sort of tree that hangs off a cliff in a remote part of the world, that is to be expected at this price point. However the discerning Bentley customer these days expects with new design comes more power, and this latest offering does not disappoint. The new W12 twin turbo follows suit delivering 626hp and 664lb ft of torque. Some of you may be saying “well that’s to be expected as those are very similar figures to Bentley

Bentayga SUV”. Bentley anticipated your remarks and has since thrown caution to the wind finally coming around introducing their first application of a double-clutch gearbox. The same 8-speed automatic various driving mode dynamic transmission has been used thus catapulting it from 0-60 consistently at 3.7seconds. Now although Bentley’s target demographic doesn’t bother themselves with mpg it’s still fun to know that when just cruising around the country club not abusing the accelerator six of the twelve cylinders will shut down. Having driven around all day in the GT even with a few short blasts to 100mph I still managed to average 23.6mpg but those extra careful will see mpg numbers tickling 30. Although Bentley owners appreciate the piece of mind of an allwheel-drive system the GT harkens back to the inspiration of a grand tourer (Front engine – Rear wheel drive). So this being Bentley offering four wheel drive standard, it needs to be said this system will primarily drive around in rear wheel drive only until the vehicle senses additional traction is needed. In my opinion this new GT has a much nicer feel and experience with a comfort that if needed my cars ability should out perform my own. I guess that is what makes cars like the new GTC such an incredible sensation to drive. It wants you to feel capable and comfortable while being protected from the world as you sit back in true luxurious fashion, something best described as “unmistakably Bentley”.

I feel this is important to share with the readers, that it is important to highlight people who do good for no other reason than to do it. As many of you know, one of my clients is Lavaggio- The Art of Auto Detailing in Agoura Hills. The owner, Mr. David Delrahim is one of the most amazing men I have ever met. I tell people that he is a friend, a mentor and an employer all at the same time. To know David is to love David. I have great respect for him and I was honored when Mr. David Delrahim asked me to join him to

drivenworld...10

visit the headquarters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. David wanted to do something “special” for our first responders during the recent fires in our area. He told me that he was “so touched by their efforts and sacrifice that he had to do something to show his appreciation.” With David, what you see is what you get. I am truly blessed to have him in my life and my family’s life. And all of those around him, we all feel the same way. Mr. David Delrahim donated $25,000.00 to the Los Angeles County Fire Department

Foundation If you know David like I do, you know he did it for one simple, honest reason, to give. To give freely and selflessly, without expectation or concern for recognition. To me, this is the best kind of giving, truly from the heart. I would also like to share that for many years, with the same disconcert for recognition, he has catered Thanksgiving Dinners for the local fire department and Sheriff Station. This year he also catered a Christmas dinner for an additional fire station. I am sharing this because

in our world we need to highlight people like Mr. David Delrahim who give selflessly. David, who makes our world better for the sake of making the world better. He is someone who I am proud to know, proud to call friend and someone I admire. He could care less about me writing this, he looks not for recognition but for something greater, something bigger than all of us. I guess the only word that comes to mind is Love. Thank you David.

Can One Click of a Butt ARTICLE AND PHOTOS BY HOT ROD JAY SANTOS

There are significant times in our lives that create incredible memories or change the direction in which we go. Such as the birth of your first child, reaching a lifelong goal, completing something that you never thought you would or simply finding peace within yourself. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience these amazing moments and always continue to search out new challenges and memories. My passion and involvement within the car community has brought me countless new friends, associates and experiences. As we come to the end of another year, I can’t help but think, “How did I get here?” Was it by luck, a big life plan, or simply fate? As I contemplate these questions I’ve come to one simple explanation, it was one click of a button. Let me explain… My mother was born in Arizona and my father in Colorado. They were introduced by my dads best friend Ernie. Ultimately Ernie became my uncle after the both of them returned from serving in the Army during the Korean War. From what I remember, I can only recall my father talking about his experience in the war one time. He showed me the scars on his lower stomach and legs that he received from shrapnel from a hand grenade. I asked him if it was painful and what it was like in Korea. He

drivenworld...12

simply said, "It burned a lot and the weather was very cold!" I must thank my father, brother and all the women and men who have, are and will be serving in our military. Without all of you, all our lives would surely be different. Thank you. My mother and father were always planners. They looked at the big picture and planned accordingly. My dads first and only job was working at McDonnel Douglas Aircraft doing chrome plating. He got the job right after returning from Korea by luck. His sister was the secretary for the president of the company and she was able to get him right in! (He ended up working there for over 40 years before retiring) My mom took care of my oldest brother, and they all live in Santa Monica right down the street from my dads work. They were planning on having more children and started looking in the surrounding areas as well as a new area called the San Fernando Valley. Because my dad would be commuting to work with their only car, they needed to find a house that was centrally located to schools, stores and a hospital. Welcome to “Woodland Hills”. My parents bought the second house built in a housing development that is now know as “Carlton Terrace”. Woodland Hills, which

was originally named “Girard”, was incorporated into Los Angeles in 1945, offered everything that my parents were looking for. When my parents purchased the house, there were only two houses on the street. (to give you a better perspective, there’s now 50 homes on the street!) My oldest brother was the only child at that time and would wander off behind the house into the empty fields. Luckily he would be brought back home by the sheepherders. Funny now to think of that because the sheepherders always knew where he lived – of course they knew where he lived! There were only two houses on the whole block. If you read my articles frequently, then you would know that my parent’s decision to move to Woodland Hills would ultimately shape my car obsession. Our soon to be neighbors, “The Wagoner’s” were the spark towards my love of cars. As I said earlier, my parents were planners. As I got older and actually paid attention to them, they had a spontaneous side as well. It wasn’t uncommon that on a Sunday night they would announce to my brother, sisters and me, “Everyone start packing clothes, because we’re going to Yosemite tomorrow!” I’m happy to say that I’ve inherited a lot of their traits. About 11 years ago I was sitting

at a computer just like the one I’m sitting at right now. At the time, I was heavily into Harleys and was a member of a well-known motorcycle club. I also had a great passion for speedboats. Ironically, I really wasn’t even interested in cars anymore. I still owned my 1967 Mustang, but I never attended car shows. Unfortunately, I was just burned out. Then unexpectedly, everything would change. I really don’t know why, but I was being drawn towards Rat Rods. There was something that was so intriguing about them. Maybe it was the stripped down look or the custom fabrication. Maybe it was the simple fact that you didn’t have to wash it, or not having to worry about getting scratches or chips on the paint. Whatever it may be, I was hooked! Over the next year I searched online for the right one to buy. Now don’t get me wrong, we’ve all bought, sold and hung on to various cars throughout our lives. But I could never imagine how much this one vehicle would drastically change “my life”. Right from the very first day that the soon to be named “30 Rat” arrived on a flatbed, cars that were driving by stopped and admired the Model A. I’ve never owned anything like it, so it was quite shocking. I have to tell you, I wasn’t used to all the attention. Opportunities have a way of presenting themselves whether we

ton Change Your Life? ask for them or not. From that day on, they just kept coming! The first is quite memorable because it brought me to Supercar Sunday where I met the infamous and very likeable Dustin Troyan. Now let me ask you, “How is it possible that Dustin ended up living right around the block from my girlfriend Lisa’s house?” He had seen my various cars parked in her driveway but didn’t put two and two together. It wasn’t until one afternoon he came screaming by in his Mustang and I just happen to be outside in the front yard. He slammed on his brakes and yelled out of his window “Hey!” Once again at Supercar Sunday, I met my now good friend DJ Von Zell. He was the only other person there that had a Rat Rod. This chance meeting snowballed into some incredible opportunities. The first was a phone call I received from DJ, it went something like thisDJ -“Hey Jay, its DJ. Do you wanna be in a movie? I got a friend who needs some cool cars and we’ll get paid. Me - “Ok!” We ended up shooting for one day on a fun YouTube movie called “The Boss 2 – More Boss Than Ever”. Look it up, it was a blast! I met some great people and was offered multiple movie appearances because of it. Next, since DJ and I were the outcasts to some of the car clubs that

went to Supercar Sunday, I ended up starting my own car club, “Rock n’ Roll Hot Rods”. The birth of this club led to meeting countless great people across the U.S., Canada and Switzerland. Things just kept rolling along! Next, DJ and I attended “The Mooneyes Christmas Car Show

One night at the dragstrip, I was spotted for a T.V. commercial for Lucas Oil Products. “Lucas Oil TV Commercial, Grandma Lost”, look it up. That was a fun shoot and it aired regularly on the Fox Sports Channel. The actress that played the “Granny” role was as sweet as she looks!

and Drags” at Irwindale Dragstrip. Little did I know, this innocent event would send me in another direction it got me hooked on drag racing and every god forsaken thing that goes along with it! I’ve been competing in “The Summit Drag Racing Series now for 5 years. I have to say that my knowledge and skills involved in owning, building and racing a drag car have multiplied tenfold.

At that time, Rat Rods were pretty uncommon in Woodland Hills. So as you could imagine, wherever DJ and I would drive, it was literally a rolling circus. People yelling at us, taking video and pictures at stoplights and a few marriage proposals…ok, just kidding – no proposals! As a matter of fact, the regular readers of my articles may remember that I met “Barry, The Hat Buchanan” while driving

the “30 Rat”. If I could name all the people that I’ve met at Supercar Sunday it would surely fill an entire page. Redline Johnny, Electric Mike, Angie, JJ, Tim, Ritchie, the crew from The Hollywoodz, Len, Frank, Ronnie and Alan etc. etc. etc. It’s just amazing what a four wheel vehicle can do! As you can see, the opportunities and changes in my life have been quite astounding. Could this of happened if I bought an import? I think you know the answer to that. The point here is actually rather simple. I’ve always believed that everyone has a story. - The lady in front of you in the coffee shop. - The guy that’s next to you putting gas in his car. We all have a story. Get out there and follow your dreams. Our lives go by so quickly. Take a chance to give yourself the opportunity to experience something new. Take that trip you’ve always wanted to go on. Get that degree that you’ve thought was out of reach. Help that friend that could use a little help. Get on your computer and search out that amazing car that you’ve been dreaming of. You really just don’t know how much one click of a button can change your life. Wishing all of you a wonderful Holiday Season and a Fantastic New Year! See ya on the road!

McLaren MSO P1 GTR Senna Article by Steve Ellis | Photos by McLaren Automotive

True, genuine legends never die. They live on long after in the hearts of fans, and in the history books for their outstanding achievements. There have been many drivers to become world champions in the world of Formula 1, but one name that is synonymous to Formula 1, is Aryton Senna, who hailed from Brazil, and won three F1 world championships for McLaren in 1988, 1990, and 1991. With great sadness, Senna passed away after a tragic accident during the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. Jump forward to 2018 and his name is still rejoiced throughout the sport and gracing the name of McLaren’s latest road legal race car, the McLaren Senna. A prestigious customer recently requested that the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) make some custom changes to his McLaren P1 GTR chassis number #12, now to be known as the MSO 91 GTR Senna. The exterior livery celebrates the McLaren MP4/4 F1 racecar that Senna piloted during the 1988 Formula 1 series, where he took the title as world champion. However, the paint scheme is the only things that were modified on this P1 GTR. There has been a boost of power, though not mentioned, it is said that the car makes more than the compared slow 986bhp P1 GTRs. The rear engine cover is constructed out of Lexan, the heat shielding is now 24 carat gold, following in the footsteps of the McLaren F1. The cars aerodynamics have been upgraded from front to rear, all redesigned in house my MSO. New front dive planes a wider front splitter, a Gurney flap, new barge boards, and larger endplates are mounted to the rear wing. These changes to the aerodynamics provide an increase of 330lbs of downforce at speed, a significant increase to 1,763 over the 1,433lbs of downforce that the P1 GTRs usually make. With all of the performance updates, and the nostalgic livery draped over the body work, to say that the MSO P1 GTR Senna, is mentally stunning, is definitely an understatement, and I feel that this car truly continues to pay homage to the great Aryton Senna in every way.

Luxury Has Gone to the Dogs Luxury is not just for humans. If you have a pet with sophisticated tastes, don’t let him paw through the Kelly Wearstler or Hayneedle catalogues. You may see some surprise charges on your next American Express bill due to canine impulse buys. Kelly Wearstler offers the Beau Dog House, a contemporary abode “composed of ebonized ribbed walnut adorned with a burnished bronze insignia.” A mere $3500, your dog can easily repay you with his weekly squirrel chasing allowance. City slickers may prefer a duplex,

whereas pooches who like to get their square dance on may prefer the barn style. The A-frame will entice the snow sports enthusiast, while the model with bay windows will appeal to the couch potato who prefers a view. (We may order this one for our office naps.) Luxury furnishings are available for these doggie mansions of course. For the dog with manor house tastes, the Library Sofa is a “designed with brass tone nailhead accents ...upholstered in high quality faux-leather with furniture grade construction.”

This is a bargain at $169.00, so stock up. One of our favorites is the Moderno pet sofa by Frontgate, a favorite amongst dogs who are into mid century modern. Described as “dapper,” this $259 model will make an impression when your dog hosts Frisbee-n-Franks night. Car enthusiasts take note: The Furrari is here! This fluffy sports car design bed sells for $249.99. The sleek, fully-loaded model is a bed Jay Leno will covet. Although we couldn’t find a bed with vibrating

Vanderhall Speedster Priced at $26,950.00

When a local PR firm sent me an email about experiencing the Vanderhall Speedster, I had no idea what it was or what to expect. Offering me the Speedster during December, my busiest month of the year, I was reluctant to accept the very kind offer. I did, but as the day came closer and my schedule was non-stop, I almost pulled the plug. Truth be told, I did not know what the Vanderhall was, I had to look it up on the web and I was pleasantly surprised. I have never driven a three wheeled vehicle and I was instantly taken back by the classic, yet modern look of the car...motorcycle...three wheeled P51 Mustang looking...car, motorcycle... whatever it was. I liked the design. Arriving to the location and seeing the Vanderhall Speedster in person, it immediately puts a smile on your face. It is kind of a AC Cobra in the sense that it is not your conven-

tional sports car with all the modern niceties. It is modern in terms of design, function, reliability, but bare in the sense of all the creature comforts a Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette or Mustang would give you. The Vanderhall is for someone who wants to feel the road, feel the wind, feel the motor and be one with it all. I happened to get the car on an 80 degree California winter day and I had a smile on my face every second of driving it. For a guy that owns some huge vehicles, some big gas guzzling, forced induction, the EPA hates me type of vehicles, the Vanderhall made me feel like a kid, a race car driver, a motorcycle race, a pilot, and as if I was driving an exotic car all at once. The little motor with a nice turbo sounds so damn good that when the blow-off valve actuates, you just grin. It is simple yet, kind of complex in...a really simple way. Would your wife love it...maybe. Would your kid,

absolutely. Your neighbor would want to borrow it. If you rode motorcycles or trikes, it is a natural fit. A Caterham or a Lotus Elise, yea... you would love it as well. A Miata track driver...yup. If you love the feel of the road, the wind and everything gasoline, you would really enjoy the Vanderhall. Everywhere I went, I was waved at, smiled at, people took pictures. The three wheeler at forty miles per hour makes you feel like you are doing eighty. It is visceral. I was like a kid in a candy store totally surprised with a really fun adventure for a day. Two of my friends saw me and asked how they could get their hands on one and one of them wants to take his wife out to see if she will bless the purchase. I think they nailed the look. A bit of aviation, a bit of European and a bit of American, somehow it works. The sound of the 4 cylinder turbo,

they just nailed it. The fit and finish is great, it is a really well designed vehicle. Fast, fun, GM drive-train, there is really a lot there. It is a vehicle that gives you the feeling of flying while staying on the ground. I enjoyed the Speedster so much that I asked Vanderhall if I could have one for an extended review. I did not get to drive it as much as I wanted to and the idea of hitting the canyons and PCH on a nice day, well, I just let you know how that goes! Pricewise it is hard to beat as well. Staring in the mid $20k, it is a bargin for someone who wants a unique vehicle, a wonderful experience and a smile on their face. I think you will see a lot of these around town the next couple of years. Well done Vanderhall! For more info: com

Porsche Unveils The New 2020 911 (992) At The Los Angeles Auto Show

Article and Photos by Steve Geldman, Image Photo Motorsports

What car enthusiast doesn’t like to visit an automotive event, especially when it’s the largest one in Southern California held every November at the L.A. Convention Center? It’s not only exciting for us to visit and drool over what we likely will never own, it’s the opportunity for the auto makers from around the globe to attend and introduce their new car models with all the high-tech bells and whistles. Having Press Credentials and able to attend days before opening to the public, members of the Press are given some amazing and dazzling presentations from most every major manufacture present. It’s a 3-day press event, but this writer chose one special day, the day Porsche was scheduled to unveil their latest 2020 911, the new 992 body style. Presented at the show were the 911S and 911 4S models, the focus of this article. Let’s first look briefly at the history of the 911. In 1964, Porsche replaced their iconic 356 with the 911 (very briefly first designated as the 901, but that’s another story). The 356 was the model that first launched Porsche into production in1948 with its last model year in 1965. Since 1964, the 911 has seen seven generations to date. One does not need to be a Porsche fanatic to know that their Engineers in Stuttgart, Germany obsess with finesse and fine tuning rather than radical body

changes. As with the 27 years producing the 356, the 911 today looks very similar to that in 1964. Well, perhaps to some, but Porsche drivers notice the subtle of changes and they are not happy campers when there is design metamorphosis, even when it comes to improved technology. Let’s face it, Porsche remains today one of the only foreign sports car manufacture still offering an optional manual transmission. Many dedicated to the brand are still upset when Porsche added cup holders to the 911. Speaking of manual transmission, recent statistics revealed in 2018 (Q1-Q3), less than 4% of ALL cars sold in the U.S. had stick shifts. That number is projected to decrease to 2.6% by 2023. Audi is the latest manufacture to no longer offer sticks in the U.S. market starting with their 2019 models. Meanwhile despite economical common sense, Porsche continues to allow their left-footed, clutch-happy customers, being fully engaged with their vehicles. The new 911 has changes that only Porsche radicals will take notice. Some physical, some technology, some performance. Much of the previous 911 model, the 991.2, carries into the 992 such wheelbase, general structural design and the 3.0L twinturbo flat 6.

POWERTRAIN This is where DrivenWorld readers have greatest interest. The 3.0L Flat 6 spits out 443 hp and 390 lb.-ft of torque in the S model and almost matching the outgoing 991.2 GTS figures. Engine mods in the 992, such as larger turbochargers and revised intercooling resulting in reduced engine temperatures. Other upgrades to that of its predecessor are improved range of spray control of the piezo fuel injectors and updated intake valves. TRANSMISSION Porsche customers have a choice between a 7-speed manual or the new 8-speed (was 7) dual-clutch PDK automatic. Not to jump too deep in this article, Porsche also has prepared some changes to allow upcoming 911 electric motor hybridization in a few years to come. The PDK has been designed for later electric hybridization and leaving room for an electric motor. Rumor has it this will take place midway through this body style, perhaps we’ll see a 911 hybrid by 2023 or 2024. Boy, if those cup holders weren’t bad enough, going hybrid will sure to piss some Porsche old-schooler’s off even further. Oh, and someday a fully electric 911? Let’s not even go down that road!

BODY Porsche cut the use of steel from 63% to just 15% by replacing exterior panels with aluminum. This, along with improved manufacturing techniques improves structural integrity by 5% to the outgoing model. Don’t be fooled with any weight loss. There still is an overall approximate 160 lb. increase to the 991.2 due to other factors, such as added technology and safety equipment. CHASSIS The 992 is only 0.8 inches longer than the 991 while riding on the same wheelbase. But what’s cool is Porsche, for the first time in a non-GT 911, utilizes staggered wheel sizes with 20 inch in the front and 21 inches in the rear. Also revised is the

INTERIOR & DRIVER ASSISTANCE – Beyond cup holders and a pending electric motor … Now that you’ve reached this point in the article, you see why the car weight as increased by ~160 lbs. The 911 now has lane-keep assist, collison warning and avoidance, rear turn assist and a night vision camera. In addition to the 7.0inch TFT digital display surrounding the analog tachometer, a 10.9-inch center dash displays nav, entertainment, connectivity and vehicle information. There is also a touch panel in the center console providing vehicle function controls.

Active Suspension Management (PASM) dampers. The result change results in Comfort mode being more comfortable and Sport mode being sportier than ever. Spring suspension also advanced meaning better load-transfer stiffness resulting in sharper handling.

BRAKES Similar to the 991.2, standard are steel rotors however the rears are now nearly 1 inch larger in diameter. However, op for the Carbon-Ceramics (PCCB), the fronts are a huge 16.1 inches and rear at 15.3 inches. Porsche also has prepared some brake changes to allow for the upcoming 911 electric motor hybridization. WET MODE New to the 911. Sensors embedded in the wheel wells detect rain splatter and work to determine the severity of the road conditions. When fully engaged, engine torque is reduced, throttle mapping flattened, ABS threshold lowered and the rear spoiler adjusts to compensate for oversteer. Plus, on all-wheel cars, more power is sent to the front wheels.

THE NUMBERS The 992 is the fastest 911 to date, naturally. Using Launch Control, the Carrera S with PDK and the Sport Chrono package sprints 0-60 mph in an astonishing 3.3 seconds, or 3.5 seconds without Sport Chrono. The all-wheel 4S with Sport Chrono drops it to even one second faster. Top speed for the S is 191 mph and 190 for the 4S. PRICING The 2020 911 Carrera S will have a base MSRP of $113,200 and the Carrera 4S set at $120,600. However, we all know there is no such thing as a base Carrera!

The most impressive Porsche on display was their introduction of the 2020 GT2 RS Clubsport. This stud is a 991.2 based, race-ready evolution of the most powerful roadgoing 911 ever produced. This non-street legal model is a stripped-out, hunkered-down, caged-up weapon for the hardest of hard-core track-day regulars. With the PDK dual-clutch automatic, this 3.8L twin-turbocharged flat 6 sends 700 hp to the rear wheels. Stickered at $478,000, only 200 will be produced.

"A toy drive, cool cars and a song. It was such a win."

Article by dustin troyan photos by steve geldman

Chaparral Elementary School in Calabasas has done a Motor4Toys drive for almost a decade now. How does it work? Well, it starts with an awesome school. Chaparral Elementary School is absolutely incredible. The Principal, the staff, the kids and the families have been so kind and generous for so many years. When you start with good people, you get a great outcome.A few weeks before the holidays, I head over to the school and do brief speech. I thank the kids for their years of participation with Motor4Toys and we then kick off the toy drive. A couple weeks later, we head back to the school with about twenty cool cars. It is so much fun. This year, it was another huge success.

We showed up for the toy pick up and as the sun came up, we knew it was going to be a great day. The kids went absolutely crazy when they saw the cars. We had the Tri-Five Chevys an a variety of other classic cars. The “car guys” that came along had a great time. The kids asked them about the cars and the kids even got to sit in a few. The children also had a “song presentation” for the holidays. A little private concert for everyone there, it was truly magical. A toy drive, cool cars and a song. It was such a win. Thank you Chaparral and Car Guys. It was an- other magical year, hundreds of toys collected for needy children, and we all won. It was simply beautiful.

The 2019 Westlake Village

Classic & Exotic Car Show & Street Festival Article by Harvey Magidow, Westlake Rotary Car Show Chairman Photography by Steve Geldman, Image Photo Motorsports; Instagram: @imagephotomotorsports

The Rotary Club of Westlake Village has begun preparations for their annual spring Street Festival & Classic/Exotic Car Show which takes place right in the heart of beautiful Westlake Village. The 2019 event will be the 25th annual and there are many additional plans in place to celebrate the silver edition. _____________________________ PURPOSE

_____________________________ The idea of a Street Festival in Westlake Village was born of a suggestion by Joseph Paulucci, a founding member of the Rotary Club of Westlake Village 25 years

ago. While no longer active in Rotary, Joseph will be the grand marshal of this year’s event to honor him and his contributions to Rotary over many years of service. While Rotary worldwide is an organization of fellowship and friendship, its main purpose is to raise awareness and establish fund raisers to support worthy causes for those in need on the local level as well as internationally. The annual Street Festival & Classic/ Exotic Car Show is one of the largest fund raisers of the year for the Rotary Club of Westlake Village. _____________________________ SUPPORTING THOSE IN NEED

_____________________________ Driven by the Rotary motto “service above self ”, the funds derived from the Car Show & Street Festival will be donated to such worthy causes such as K9’s for Warriors (helping our vets returning from combat), Meals On Wheels programs, Feeding the Homeless through local churches, Cancer Support organizations, Boy

& Girls Clubs, and more. The major contributors & donations derived from the Street Festival & Car Show come from the vendors who purchase booth spaces (150 – 200 vendors), the event sponsors such as local car dealerships, local utility companies, private companies, and many more. The Car Show became a significant contributor to the event since it was added to the Street Festival 5 years ago as attendance figures for the festival have increased significantly in recent years. Each year thousands of locals attend this popular family friendly event which has something for everyone. Featured are many arts & craft vendors, entertainment all day on a large stage, food vendors, kids’ zone, pet zone, and much more. _____________________________ REGISTRATION & AWARDS

_____________________________ Registered cars exhibiting at the show can start arriving at 7:30 a.m. and all entrants must be in place no later than 9:00 a.m. There

is a maximum of 100 spaces for the exhibiting cars and pre-registration typically sells out in advance. Judging at this show is by “People’s Choice” and awards will be made on the large stage at approx. 3:00 p.m. To exhibit your classic or exotic “pride & joy”, please call Harvey Magidow (805) 750-0345 or email him at hmagidow@aol.com. _____________________________ WHEN & WHERE

_____________________________ The 2019 Street Festival & Car Show will take place on Sunday April 28, 2019. It starts at the intersection of Agoura Rd. and Lakeview Canyon and is open to the public free of charge from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bring the whole family and come out and enjoy this festive and popular annual event in the heart of Westlake Village plus seeing some spectacular cars on display.

Rare Porsce 959 Debut at Supercar Sunday

Article by dustin troyan photos by Tommy Huth

It is not every day a Porsche 959 pulls into a car show, anywhere in America or the world for that matter. What a pleasant surprise when Howard Tenenbaum one of the owners of the Keyes Automotive Group, also the presenting sponsor of Supercar Sunday and Motor4Toys pulled up to the show in a very rare and perfectly restored Porsche 959. He took delivery less that 24 hours before the show! When Howard pulled into Supercar Sunday, the crowd went

drivenworld...38

nuts! Most of us grew up with a Porsche 959 poster on our wall and it was only a dream to own one or to see and here one on person. What a treat! The Porsche 959 was the predecessor to most current supercars. The all wheel drive and twin-turbo rocket ship was derived from the Group B Rally Cars. Arguably the 959 would do just about at or over 200 miles per hour. A highly sophisticated and technologically advanced car for the time, it is indeed

the paradigm that most if not all modern Porsches were modeled after. And, it is one of the most desired vehicles for any car collector and a true diamond for Porsche collectors. I would personally like to thank Howard Tenenbaum for not only sponsoring Supercar Sunday and Motor4Toys but for also sharing his incredible Porsche 959 with us. To see it, touch it, hear it and watch it drive away was a first for many of us and definitely puts the “Supercar in Supercar Sunday.
