Leaks, unfinished business, a messy office, all things I hate. I am guilty of having all of them, a lot of the time. I do try to finish what I start even if it is challenging. I try real hard. I also know that somethings take time. A lot of time. I am not in the position to stroke a check to have someone restore a car of mine, I probably have no business restoring a car, but that is probably a lot of us. I can’t tell you how many guys told me they were in the middle of a restoration, had kids and the restoration stopped for about twenty years. Once the kids were off to college, they were back in the garage. Or, after the kids were out of college they had some money to play with again so back to restoring they went. A regular at Supercar Sunday today was showing me his Shelby Mustang. It was a 1969 or 1970 and he actually made me get on the ground to look under the car. It was perfect. A perfect restoration and perfectly clean. He said how it took him three years to do himself. It was truly stunning. A concours restoration. Three years he said, I just laughed, I have been at it for over a decade with a couple of my cars. If I don’t hurry up, it will be two decades. Hence, I need to finish up the wife’s car. I am so close I can taste it. And the car is a really nice looking car. So close. This morning was Supercar Sunday and it was the Shelby, Ford GT marque day. My wife and kids showed up and she gave me a look, not a mean look, but a look like she would have loved to have had her car there. I thought about it, but there was no way for me set up the show, race home, grab the kids while she drove the Fastback in. It made absolutely no sense. The car does drive with the power steering belt off, nobody would have known until she tried to park it, it looks great...but, I guess we will have to wait another year before she can drive it in on a special Marque day. It is not a Shelby, but I don’t think anyone would have minded. I guess I failed a little on this one...sorry wife. And, one of the guys what worked on it called me and asked if it was going to be on display, I told him it wasn’t. He was a bit disappointed. Steve did some great work on it too. It deserves to be shown off. You just can't quit in life, you just can't. I have told you that I actually have no idea what I am doing, I just keep trying to move forward. That is the truth. This past week I was doing some studio work with the Warner Bros. sound team. John Fasal and Bryan Watkins. I have mentioned them before. We were joking that we have been working together for almost fifteen years, give or take. The work that they have done over the years has been in countless movies, games, commercials and probably a plethora of other mediums I don't know about. Hundreds of millions of people have heard their work over the years. And then there is little 'ol me working with these guys. We are definitely a team and we work great together. We always have a great time. I have no idea how I ended up doing studio work, it is kind of a wave that I started riding when Bryan Watkins asked me about the car show in front of Village Coffee Roaster, the birthplace of Supercar Sunday. All these years later...we are still going at it. When we work together, we never quit, we get the very best sound and regardless of how tired we might be, we get the job done. We always get the job done. There are always people who can get a job done. With my daughters, I want them to see daddy not having a dripping oil pan, a messy office, a bunch of rusty old cars, I want them to see their daddy getting the job done, sick, tired, exhausted, whatever. I always saw my parents getting it done, no matter what. Sometimes the oil leaks for a few months or maybe a year, but at some point in time, you gotta stop that leak. I think I am at a point where it is time to stop all the leaks, get all the cars done, and show the girls what their daddy is really capable of. I need to be the best illustration I can for them and for the family. I need to really step it up and be the very best I can be, for myself and for the family. No more leaky engines, no more cars that are almost running. It is time...it is time... Dustin

If you read the last letter, you know my 1977 F-250 broke down on the side of the 101 freeway a few months ago. It is back running again. Ended up the oil pump froze, broke the gear on the bottom of the distributor and prestowhammo, the truck lost timing. In any event it is back running again. Thank goodness. A big truck like that is a lot to push around and I am getting too old to push cars. And, I lost all the young guys on the block who used to help me push my cars. When you have old cars, it is nice to have people that can help you push them. There will come a time when they need to be pushed. And of course, you should always have the very best AAA towing service. Always. I have pushed a lot of my own cars over the years for one reason or another. I’ll do it, but I have grown to hate it. Do the job right the first time they say, sometimes you can and sometimes you cannot. Sometimes it is a function of time and budget. In the perfect world, you would always do the job right the first time. With the F-250, with some help of my neighbor, I was pretty sure that I got it right the first time. We had a challenge with the gasket on the front of the oil pan, it kept slipping off when we were putting the pan on. We thought we did the whole job right, but, it has a pretty healthy leak. Some would say to pull the pan off, get a new gasket and redo the job, others would suggest going and buying a bunch of gasket sealer and go to town. I really don’t feel like dropping the pan again, so I am investing in the $9 bucks and lathering it up with sealer. Then again, I may just pull it off and do it right. Time will tell what I decide to do, but man I hate leaks. An old hot rod with air conditioning that works on a hot day is just like an old car that doesn’t leak, awesome. I think all the cars I have leak something or another. My wife’s 1969 Fastback that we built has a power steering leak that is holding up driving the car. That is next on the queue. Fix the power steering leak, a few other bits and pieces and I may actually have one car that is finished. Good grief ! Well, it still needs some air conditioning, but that will come in time. I would love to mini-tub it and put a Coyote motor with a supercharger, but for now I will wrap up this one and hopefully call it done. Mission completed after a very long time. It is amazing how fast time goes, I think we have had that car for about twelve years or longer. Restoring it bit by bit, redoing a bunch of stuff on it and the time just slipped away. Needless to say, that car looks awesome, drives great, it is just that damn leak. I think with that one we had the wrong pulley on the powersteering and it blew out the gasket. Twice actually. I'll be buying a new steering rack for the third time as it is just about the same price to buy new as it is to rebuild. But, if that is done, we are off to the races. My wife's Fastback, almost finished.

The Porsche Experience Center, PECLA ARTICLE BY Dustin Troyan

When Keith Goldberg, the General Manager of Rusnak Porsche in Westlake invited me to a VIP Experience at the Porsche Experience Center, I was stoked. First to be considered and secondly to go. A huge thank you to Keith. Keith also mentioned that I could invite a friend who loved Porsche, I knew just who to invite....

When PECLA was announced years ago, that Porsche was going to build an “Experience Center” with a track in the Los Angeles area, the California car community went crazy. A local track for Porsche owners, now that would be something. When ground broke and they started to build, people waited breathlessly to see what Porsche had in mind. And when they finally opened, if you got in early, you were a

rockstar. As time has gone by, word on the street has been that a visit to PECLA is a rare treat. Something truly special. Having never been and being a bit late to the party, I was so excited that I would be going. I knew it would be awesome. The Porsche Experience Center is perfectly located in Carson, California. A great location as it is centrally located and right off the

freeway. You have probably driven past it and thought, “man, I gotta go there.” Yes, you do have to go there. I can tell you that my experience was very special. It was very special because every Porsche Experience Center Team Member made me feel special. When you walk in, you are greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. You have stepped into a different world for the

time you are there and you are treated well, you are treated like you really matter. Not in the sense of selling you anything, but, that you sincerely matter. You are not a customer, you are not really a guest, you are almost a celebrity in that everyone there is happy to see you and their primary focus is sharing the Porsche passion with you and driving passion. I don’t own a Porsche (I would love to, just not in the cards right now), it doesn’t matter. Sure I know a bit about cars, but they have no idea if I am a neophyte or an expert, no matter. They really make you feel, wanted. It is not

about who you are or what you may or may not own, or about dollars and cents, it is almost like, everybody deserves the Porsche experience. They really make you feel special. Meeting up with Keith and the other guests, we were given a tour and then were off to the simulators. As you might imagine, everything is exactly where it should be, everything is spotless, every detail has be well planned and executed. From the show cars on display to the full functioning race car workshop to the cafe, the restaurant and the track. They

put their A-team to work and the Ateam hit a grand slam. The simulators are incredible. Out of about twelve people, I was the worst driver there. Not much of a video game guy, I was horrible. But we all had so much fun. You can select different cars to drive and my friend Bryan and I chose to drive the old 917 race car with the big turbo. Just like real life, when that turbo would kick in, my car would spin in circles... it was so much fun. Not the best driver, but, you want to do doughnuts, you know who to call.

From the simulators we relaxed and the cafe, powered up on espresso and fresh gourmet pastries and then it was off to the track for some dynamic driving. The track is a short track that gives you just enough speed that you could really feel what a Porsche can do. In the straights and in the turns, it is just about the perfect size to have you grinding your teeth while your instructor casually shows you the lines. As is usual the case for most non-professional drivers like myself, the cars are more capable and the track has more to offer

than I could use. In other words, I need more track time in a Porsche. The instructors are incredible. Like the rest of the team members at PECLA, they are so positive, understanding and inspiring, they take all of the stress out of what could be a stressful situation. And they do actually hope you learn from them and they do want you to come back. Again, there is absolutely no sales pitch anywhere. There is no emphasis on Porsche being a better car than some other brand, they just want

you to enjoy yourself and see what a Porsche can do, what real driving is, and the camaraderie of being a Porsche owner could be. I could go on and on about the track time, but my suggestion which I will elaborate on is to simply go there and experience the track. Yes you can go fast. Yes the track is big enough that you can get scared, yes you can go faster than in the canyons, yes it is safe and yes you do feel on the edge. Or, if you don’t want to push hard, that is ok too. The in-

structors are there for you and they will do exactly what you want. Your first time on the track and you are a bit nervous, no problem, take it slow. They sincerely care about your experience, on every level. I took a long time friend with me who is a huge Porsche fan. He has a couple Porsches, has been around cars his whole life and works with cars in the TV/Film business. I have to tell you that he was like a kid in a candy store. He had so much fun I was blown away. He was like a

teenage boy with his first girlfriend and his parents were out of town. He was going crazy! From the simulator to track, talking Porsche heritage, Porsche racing, sharing about his past experiences in Porsches and his current 930 Slantnose, seeing how happy he was made the experience so much better. Suffice to say, it was the same experience we all had. It was as if for a day we had no responsibility and the day was all about us, our love for cars, friendship and some really great food. I mean it was a damn fine day. After the track we headed

to lunch. We had no idea what to expect, but we were taken to the private dining room and again the experience was 5-star. From the food to the servers, the dessert. Sitting looking over the track watching the new GT2 RS going out to play, it was some far off track, in some far off place, for very special people, in Cason...right off the 405. I could go on and on if you couldn’t tell. I have been purposely vague for a couple reasons, those reasons are to simply motivate you

to visit the Porsche Experience Center in Carson. I can guarantee you a good time. I can guarantee you that you should take your father, your son, your wife, your daughter, your best friend, your work team, an old friend. Ironically, it doesn’t matter if they are into Porsche, it is the experience of a lifetime to any all comers. I don’t know if they have a tagline or a motto, but, it could be, “Everybody deserves a Porsche Experience...” It is first class, it is not expensive, you need to do the whole day including the lunch or dinner. Make a day of

it, save up if you have to but, just go. Porsche nailed in on every level. To the team at PECLA, I would like to wish you Kudos, a better experience cannot be had. You made the entire visit a day dream of enjoyment. The location was in perfect order, the staff was kind, intelligent and they care. Top to bottom, every team member cared about us. And it showed and it was authentic. To Porsche North America, please recognize the PECLA Team, they deserve it. Keith Goldberg and the

Rusnak Porsche Team, thank you for including me in such a wonderful day. Bryan and I had a blast. We truly appreciate being included. To the readers, make an appointment and go. www.porschedriving.com/ porsche-experience-center-los-angeles

LAVAGGIO THE ART OF AUTO DETAILING

When I first heard of Lavaggio, I didn’t believe what I was told. “The most amazing detailing facility ever built!” that was the quote. Years ago, I had an auto detailing business and all of us know, auto detailing is a bay or a trailer. So, when I heard about Lavaggio, I just wrote it off. Over the next couple of months, I kept hearing about Lavaggio and it always followed with “you must go see it, you will not believe it.” So, curiosity got the best of me and I headed over. Exiting the 101 fwy at Reyes Adobe, I was told I could not miss it, “turn right off the freeway and make the first right onto Canwood St. and you will see it on your left.” So off the freeway I went, turned right and right onto Canwood Street. But, something must be wrong. All I see is a spa or a medical building, everything else is residential. There is no detail center around here? So, I drove back and forth a few times and I kept seeing the Lavaggio waterfall and signage by the street, but where was the facility? All I see is this stunning building that is reminiscent of Tuscan villa. So, I turned into the medical building or villa or

drivenworld...12

whatever it was and my jaw dropped, IT WAS LAVAGGIO! A little intimidated, I pulled into the parking lot. I didn’t understand this was the detailing facility? I walked up the marble steps and entered automotive nirvana. Allow me to assure you with 100% certainty; there is no other detail facility on the planet like Lavaggio. Everything I was told was true, and more. Lavaggio is an entirely new concept in auto detailing. It is not a bay or a body shop it is quite possibly the nicest automotive venue that has ever been created. Lavaggio is dedicated to one simple principle: Exceed your expectations. To fully understand Lavaggio, you must visit. No expense has been spared in providing your vehicle and yourself with the finest experience possible. So what makes Lavaggio so special? It begins when you pull onto the property. As you pull in the lull of waterfalls immediately puts you at ease. As you pull up, Lavaggio’s service advisor, Gabriel greets you with a friendly smile and an extremely high level of expertise. Once you have agreed upon a service, you enter Lavaggio’s state-of-theart building. The concierge greets you, not unlike a five star hotel. She asks if you are “staying” or if you would like to be “transported” back to your home or office. Now here is where it starts to get very interesting. Included in the

price of every service is a meal made to order and a ride home. Do you need me to repeat that? You pull up to get your vehicle washed or detailed and you have your choice of a freshly made meal and/or a ride back to the office! NO EXTRA CHARGE! If it is the case that you decide you are going to stay at Lavaggio while your vehicle is being cleaned, you have your choice of relaxing on their stunning patio, watching the flat-screen TV inside, using one of three iMacs or your own wireless laptop or device. This is only a small portion of the facility! If it is the case that you have work to be done or want a little more privacy, just head upstairs and there is a desk and a private sitting area as well as offices that are available to you. At no extra charge! Ok, ok, sounds great, but if I am getting a ride home and a return pick up to get my vehicle and a complimentary meal, this place must cost a fortune right? WRONG! That is the most amazing part of the Lavaggio experience; it is priced at a level that anyone can afford! In fact, it is price better than most other quality detail shops and mobile detailers. Throw in the lunch, amenities and pampering, it is a no-brainer. Back to exceeding expectations, the base service is the Lavaggio Signature Wash. Now, what you have to understand here is that their wash is everybody else’s mini-detail or detail. That signature wash which is expertly executed by

detailers, is fully customized to each vehicle, meaning that it is not a conveyor or a line, it is two detail professionals using mineral free water (R-O water) in a dedicated wash bay utilizing the finest products available. After the car is washed, it is pulled into the detail bay. Oh, the detail bay. Again, I assure you with 100% certainty that you have never seen such a detail bay or work area (see next page). Your vehicle is pulled into the bay and the detailers go to work on the inside and exterior of the vehicle. Your floor mats are put through a state-of-the-art washing and sanitizing machine. Your steering wheel, shifter and door handle are sanitized. From your wheels to your windows to your gas door, the attention to detail on the Signature Wash far exceeds the norm. To ensure the paint looks great, the detailers finish the vehicle with a liberal portion of detail spray. Yes, this is the wash! Upon completion, your vehicle is inspected three times. THREE TIMES! This ensures that Lavaggio lives up to its promise: Exceeding your expectations. If this is just the wash, image the detail! Also worth noting are the big, soundproof bay windows, which are incorporated into the structure. Every step of the way you can observe the skilled technicians perfecting your vehicle! Nothing is hidden and the entire process is there for you to see. The entire approach at Lavaggio is to ensure that you are 100% comfortable with every aspect of your experience and the services

being rendered on your vehicle. When I tell you that you have to experience Lavaggio, you really must. I believe it actually takes a few visits to really understand the scope of what Lavaggio has to offer ant the vision that has been recognized. Lavaggio is truly redefining auto detailing. When one is in the publishes a magazine, space is a precious commodity. I figured I would dedicate three pages to Lavaggio, but I could not tell the whole Lavaggio story in just three pages. I could actually dedicate a whole magazine to really elaborate on the level of detail at Lavaggio, but if you are a car guy like me, check out this one of a kind detail bay. To detail properly, you must have an environment, which is conducive to detailing. Environmentally factors like temperature, wind, fallout (overspray, dirt/dust in the air, other pollutants) all play a major role in the preparation, application and execution of detailing. At Lavaggio, the detail bay was designed to guarantee that Lavaggio had the perfect environment. From the climate controlled bay to the “clean room” air treatment system to remove dust and pollutants n the air, to the natural lighting, and the finest and most modern equipment, Lavaggio is truly one of a kind. The detail team at Lavaggio has been trained, retrained, trained again, some more training and the are always training. Enough is never enough and to stay sharp, industry experts are in constant contact and are being flown in from all over the United States to ensure the Lavaggio team is current on all new techniques, products and information. At Lavaggio, detailing is more than detailing, it is keeping you and your

family healthy! Lavaggio has researched and found that there is a direct relationship between time spent in a car and illness. This is often attributed to contaminants in your vehicle. Research shows that if you eat in your vehicle, have kids or animals, your vehicle can be as dirty if not dirtier than your toilet. It’s true, Google it! To combat this, Lavaggio has taken a “health approach” and again, invested in training and equipment to kill germs and bacteria in your vehicle. The purpose of this “Health Approach” was simply that the Lavaggio management felt it was their responsibility to keep their guests and the guest’s families healthy. The lift in the corner. Yup, you go it, concors detailing. There was such a high demand from guests that wanted more than just the top and inside of their vehicles done, that Lavaggio decided to put in a lift with extra-low ramps (for the sports cars owners out there). Lavaggio offers concors detailing and under-carriage detailing. They offered story about a set of wheels that they were preparing for a guest. The wheels were to be put on a vintage Ferrari that was to head up to Concorso Italiano. So Lavaggio went to work on the wire wheels and the vintage tires. Having completed the “Concours wheel and tire service”, what did Lavaggio do? They called in a local certified concours judge and had them inspected prior to delivery to the client. The vehicle took a trophy! What types of vehicles frequent Lavaggio? On any given day, you will see a mom pull up in a SUV or a Prius owner pulling in. The irony is that most people think that Lavaggio is only for “certain cars”, but truth be told, every type of car imaginable pulls in on a daily basis. I have been there when a boat

pulled in, followed by a Carrera Gt, then a couple “soccer moms” in SUVs and then a Harley. Lavaggio was created to suit the needs of every type of vehicle owner and every type of vehicle. I have seen 4x4s covered in mud from weekend in the desert to real 440 6-pack Cudas to Hondas, Toyotas, Kias and everything else under the sun. Lavaggio is such a value and an experience, once you visit, you have found a new home. Lavaggio has also reached out to the car community. From offering their facility to car clubs and charitable foundations, to holding private events at to partnering with dealerships and manufacturers. Lavaggio has hosted guests like the Santa Barbara Porsche Club and parties and receptions from Hotchkis Suspensions, Lamborghini Aventador Launch parties with the Auto Gallery, Galpin Auto Sports Mustang drives, McLaren Beverly Hills test drives, Tesla test drives, and so on and so forth. Lavaggio is becoming a central hub for everything automotive. Back to the detailing. Lavaggio takes such great care of your vehicle and they take it so seriously, every vehicle is inspected three times by three different trained experts. The technicians wear white cloth gloves and lab coats. Upper management will even does “spot inspections” to ensure the highest level of work possible. And, within 48 hours, a follow up call is made to the guest to ensure that their experience was of the approval of the guest. At Lavaggio, the experience is in the details and they are in the detail business and trust me, it shows. Being very immersed in the automotive world, I have never come across such an organization and operation. Lavaggio has truly set a new bar that

will be very hard to replicate if it is even possible. Again, I have to stress, you have to visit the location to fully understand what has been created. The Platinum Club at Lavaggio: Lavaggio has had such great demand for a “yearly program”, that they came up with a concept called the “Platinum Club.” The Platinum Club is a yearly program in which you enroll your vehicle. The program allows you to get unlimited Signature Washes on your vehicle. Yes, that does mean every day. It entitles you to a meal with every visit, concierge services, courtesy shuttle service, use of the business centers and offices, invitations to private events and product launches. It also entitles you to (4) Ultimate Details, A Lease Return Detail & A New Car Detail (in the case that you trade in your vehicle), VIP treatment. You might ask if anyone gets their car washed everyday and the answer is “yes”, they do. The value of just the washes (annually) once a week is well over $4,000.00, not including the Ultimate Details, the meal with each visit, the New vehicle and Lease return details and all of the amenities. The true value of this programs is somewhere over the $6,400.00 mark. But in classic Lavaggio style, they have priced the Platinum Club at $2,579.00 and even have payment options available to you. In essence, your vehicle is guaranteed to be clean and resale value or trade-in value is realized. I have personally enrolled two vehicles and have to tell you that it is the finest experience ever. I would suggest joining to everyone. For more info on Lavaggio & the Platinum Club contact Dustin Troyan 818-584-3240 www.lavaggio.net

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 26 February 2019 – Automobili Lamborghini presents the new Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder at Geneva Motor Show: the open-top car joins its coupé counterpart launched earlier this year, as the second model in the V10 Huracán EVO line-up. The Spyder adopts the next-generation vehicle dynamic control and aerodynamics developed for the coupé, with the 5.2 liter naturally-aspirated Lamborghini V10 engine uprated for a higher power output and incorporating Titanium intake valves. The Huracán EVO Spyder outputs 640 hp (470 kW) at 8,000 rpm with 600 Nm of torque delivered at 6,500 rpm. With a dry weight of 1,542 kg the car reaches a weight-to-power ratio of 2.41 kg/hp, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and from 0-200 km/h in 9.3 seconds. Braking from 100 km/h to 0 is achieved in just 32.2 m, with a top speed of 325 km/h. “The Huracán EVO Spyder incorporates all the performance, next-generation vehicle control and aerodynamic features of the EVO coupé, with its own unique personality and a driving excitement that only an open-top car can offer,” says Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Spyder continues the Huracán EVO’s evolutionary charge: extremely easy to drive while

drivenworld...18

excelling as a highly responsive, fun super sports car. Particularly with the roof open, the emotive sound of the naturally aspirated engine and the refined, lightweight exhaust system take the sensory experience to a new level. The Huracán EVO Spyder’s design, performance and exhilarating open-air drive experience is literally breath-taking.” Next generation vehicle dynamics The Huracán EVO Spyder combines the option of openair driving with the prowess of the Huracán EVO’s evolutionary technologies. Rear-wheel steering and a four-wheel torque vectoring system are controlled centrally by Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI): the Central Processing Unit integrating and controlling every aspect of the car’s set-up and dynamic behavior, anticipating the next move and needs of the driver and interpreting this through a ‘feed forward logic’. Processing data in real time, the LDVI system monitors and analyses external conditions through its active suspension and all-wheel drive. It also recognizes the driver’s intentions through steering wheel, braking, acceleration, the gear and driving mode selected. Precise inputs are given to the vehicle dynamic system, creating a super-agile and responsive car with unparalleled level

of control: the car doesn’t just react, but predicts the best driving set-up for the next moment. Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) version 2.0, launched on the EVO coupé, is a comprehensive set of accelerators and gyroscope sensors located in the car’s center of gravity, monitoring real-time lateral, longitudinal and vertical accelerations, as well as roll, pitch and yaw rate. The magneto rheological suspension, also upgraded to version 2.0, instantaneously adapts the damping following inputs from the LPI. The new advanced traction control system together with enhanced allwheel drive and torque vectoring, allows traction to be directed to a single wheel as required. Modified Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS), provides higher responsiveness in corners while requiring the lowest steering angles. Coupled with rear-wheel steering, agility is ensured at low speed with maximum stability in high-speed cornering and under severe braking. Driving the Huracán EVO Spyder is as refined or exciting as the occupants desire. The preferred driving mode is selected via the ANIMA system, with STRADA especially calibrated via the LDVI system for road-driving comfort. In SPORT it adopts a fun and exciting persona, with the ability to drift. In CORSA the Huracán EVO Spyder demonstrates its Performante heritage:

race-track ready and exhilarating, for the most extreme driving environments. Open-air aerodynamics and design – inside and out The aerodynamic superiority of the Huracán EVO is continued with the Spyder. With roof either up or down, the aerodynamic competency of the EVO Spyder, with more than five times the downforce and efficiency of the original Huracán Spyder, sustains not only the most dynamic handling and performance but the comfort of the occupants. Cabin airflow is minimised and the occupants assured a quiet cockpit environment. Like the EVO coupé, a new front bumper gives the car a low, assertive personality with aerodynamic efficiency improved via the front splitter and enlarged air intakes. At the rear the Huracán EVO Spyder adopts the new rear design evocative of naked race bikes and inspired by Lamborghini Huracán race cars, with the twin outlets of the new sports exhaust system positioned high in the rear bumper. At the upper end of the tail an integrated, slotted spoiler provides enhanced air flow, clearly emphasizing the car’s aerodynamic abilities. The underbody has been shaped to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. The side profile of the Huracán EVO Spyder differs significantly from the coupé, but is equally dynamic with roof up or down. The

FROM LAMBORGHINI • New Lamborghini Huracán EVO design translated into open-air exhilaration • Electrohydraulic, lightweight soft top for pure Spyder feeling • Aerodynamic superiority maintained roof up or down • Engine derived from Huracán Performante, producing 640 hp and 600 Nm of torque • Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, top speed 325 km/h • New infotainment system with advanced connectivity features lightweight soft top carves the top line of the Spyder’s silhouette while up, and is hidden away when down in the most efficient space possible, revealing the athletic and equally powerful lines of the open car. Automatic pop-up safety bars are hidden away. Whether the roof is up or down, the driver can electronically open the rear window, which functions as a windshield when closed and when open, amplifies the song of the EVO Spyder’s unique aspirated engine sound. The electrohydraulic, lightweight soft top opens via a button positioned on the central tunnel in just 17 seconds up to a driving speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). As the roof silently lowers, two fins in the same color as the body rise upwards out of the folding roof casing towards the seatbacks and once in place continue the line to the rear, enhancing the car’s low, dynamic appearance. An integrated duct between the fins reduces turbulence in the headroom during open top driving. The Huracán EVO Spyder is presented in Verde Selvans: an iconic new Lamborghini four-layer green, and one of an enhanced range of colors and trims available for the Huracán EVO coupé and Spyder. Interior options include new EVO trim in Alcantara and leather mix, with stitching and trim details to match the body tone. A number of style packages are offered as well as lightweight materials such as Carbon

Forged Composite and Lamborghini’s patented Carbon Skin. Lamborghini’s comprehensive customization program, Ad Personam, allows virtually limitless personalization of the new car. The EVO Spyder sports the new 20” Aesir rims, with Pirelli P Zero tires. The new 8.4” HMI touchscreen, located in the center console just above the start button, puts connectivity at the driver’s fingertips, with multi-finger gesture control. Governing car functions including seats, climate and the status of the LDVI system in real-time it also puts all infotainment, such as Apple CarPlay with smartphone integration, at the cabin occupants’ disposal. A multimedia system incorporates connected navigation and entertainment including web radio and video player, with the intuitive interface enabling voice commands. Price of the Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder and market delivery the first customers will take delivery of the new Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder in spring 2019.

The Principe Collection

idden Valley, an enclave of amazing horse properties that lies within the city of Thousand Oaks, is home to Rick and Suzanne Principe. Besides both being admirers of fine automobiles, the Principe’s operate Principe Vineyards Estate Wines where they grow and harvest grapes from their property to produce estate wines available both online and in local restaurants. All this work is second to Mr. Principe’s successful 40-year passion of commercial real estate sales. Principe is the founder and CEO of Westcord Commercial Real Estate Services, who specializes in retail, office, industrial and medical use properties. But that’s not all. Principe owns and operates Finish Line Auto Storage. Current locations are in Newbury Park and Westlake Village with a third and forth under early development in Calabasas and Costa Mesa. Finish Line Auto Storage is the ultimate in motor enthusiast storage facilities which offers a private and secure environment for owners of their prized automobiles. Along with card key access security gates and 24-hour cameras at each location, amenities include a private club house with lounge and bar, pool table, poker table and wine storage lockers, wash/detail areas and more. Like most health clubs, members of one location will be welcome and able to use the facilities at other developments. If you own a special vehicle or have no room for your own collection, this is the place for you! On a beautiful clear sunny Sunday morning in January, a selected group of lucky Porsche

Club of America members were invited to visit the prestigious private automobile collection of the Principe’s. With all the activities the Principe’s have embraced, The Principe Automotive Collection takes this passion to a whole other level. Their eye-popping and menacingly attractive cars are all under one roof which was formally the home’s tennis court area. Manufacturers represented include Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, Jaguar and a ’63 Chevrolet split-window Corvette Coupe thrown in. Some special vehicles include a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTS. Only 200 of this 2-seater ‘grand touring’ spider were built during its short production from 1964 to 1966. This beauty is powered with a V-12, 260 hp normally aspirated engine. Original list price was a whopping $14,500. Any original owner, if one exists, is laughing all the way to the bank. Another notable vehicle on

display was a 1990 Ferrari F40. Built from 1987 to 1992, total production volume on this red rear-winged baby was 1,311. This mid-engine placed Twin-Turbocharged V-8 powerhouse is rated a 500 hp with a 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and the fastest production Ferrari at that time. The F40 name was used to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ferrari. Last, but surely not least, was a 1957 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster. This cream-colored luxurious automobile is fuel injected, built at the time most every other production car was carbureted. Only 618 were produced in this model year. It’s powered with a 6-cylinder overhead cam engine rated at 240 hp. With the Original List Price being $9,085, in 1957 it was nearly the price of the average home. Under this same roof is an office filled with automotive maintenance manuals and other car paraphernalia. A large wall-mounted white board lists Principe’s automotive inventory,

currently totaling about 23 vehicles, and describes each car in detail as to Last Tire Change, Last Driven, Last Service and Repairs needed. This is a man and wife who not only enjoy being avid car collectors, but also greatly care for them. By the way, did you pick up on “Last Driven”? Yes, from notes shown on this white board, all have been out on the road within the past 5 months. The Principe’s have a lot going on in their lives, from wine production, commercial real estate to an amazing exotic car collection. The Porsche Club appreciated the opportunity to view their impressive collection of fine classic and exotic automobiles. However, what is most cool is what the Principe’s offer to the public, to store our own precious vehicle while hanging out with other car enthusiasts, smoke a cigar, drink a cold one and playing pool at a Finish Line Auto Storage facility.

Today on February 17, 2019 I woke up early with my dad to goto Super Car Sunday. This was going to be a big day for me. I was about to hand over a check for $5,000 that I raised making Paracord Keychains to help Children’s Research for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It has been a long journey and a lot of work raising the money but I finally did it! Along the way I have met all My goals. I became a Black Belt in December of 2017 and helped a lot of people. I have been in 3 magazines called Driven World including this issue and two newspapers, the Sunday paper for the Los Angeles Daily News on Feb. 3 page 3 and continued on page 16 and the The Valley Vantage paper also page 3 on Feb. 7. I have also raised the $5,000 which I gave to the Director of LLS JJ Owen today in front of a huge record crowd at the World Famous Super Car Sunday. I will continue to keep raising money to help Children’s Leukemia and Lymphoma research by selling my Keychains and hope everyone keeps supporting my passion. I will make this short and would like to thank Duke Dao and Dustin Troyan for letting me do this you guys rock!! Also would like to thank, Milton Knox jr and Busy Being Real, Daniel Terry and Keijuan Douglas from Formula 4 Speed, Randy Cooper, all of Topanga LAPD, LAFD, CD3 Bob Blumenfelds Office, Victor and Tommy Sykes from Slimbody Bootcamp and Slimbody Fitness, and my friend Vanessa and her Mom Stephanie and everyone else who has helped me along the way. Tell us about when your passion for cars began... My passion for cars began sometime during my racing adventures. I have been riding and racing BMX, for a few years for Schwinn and Mongoose Bicycle Company’s. The next thing I remember giving it all in Motocross; motorcycles, three wheelers, and four wheelers. Traveling around a couple of states to different race courses having a lot of fun. I raced with another kid named John. We were both support sponsored by Kawasaki Motor Sports. All this fun led me to my interest in automobiles and the racing of……

What cars have you owned? I have own a few cars I liked, 66 Mustang, 70 Ford stake bed truck, 80 Ford 4 wheel drive Truck, 70 SS 396 Chevelle, 91 Nissan 4 wheel drive truck, Toyota truck, 900 Kawasaki Motor Cycle, 750 Honda Interceptor, Motor Cycle, Dodge Truck, Dodge PT Cruiser, and my beloved 2006 Mustang GT. What cars do you currently own? What made you decide on the Mustang? What year is it? How long have you owned it? Did you buy the Mustang stock? After you bought the car, what mods have you done?

I have had my Mustang for twelve plus years, the longest car owned. I like the status of owning an icon in the automotive industry. Almost every day I get complements. Guess I like the feeling. I have a few changes to my Mustang. It was quick a decade ago. But, by today’s standards it’s slow as molasses. However I can finally handle and use some of it’s need for speed. I drive everywhere I can, through all my formal schooling, work, and vacations.

If you could share any advice about building cars, what would it be? I think a person who is proud of his accomplishments and his vehicle, no matter what it may be, will always be able to add that little bit of love to there vehicle. My advice about building a vehicle, is make “damn” sure you love and have a loving wife, and the $$$$$$$ to go with the adventure Motivational advice, don’t question it. Just do it!
