SPRING ‘14 DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
PROGRAM GUIDE
HOW TO INTEGRATE THE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PROGRAMMING INTO YOUR CLASSROOM AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES 1. If you would like to have a tour or visit one of our three cultural centers, contact the desired cultural center (Black Cultural Center, Latino Cultural Center, Native American Educational and Cultural Center) at least two (2) weeks in advance to schedule a group tour. (NOTE: If you would like to have this visit serve as an extra credit assignment, provide a sign‐in sheet at the desired cultural center as a way of ensuring attendance.)
2. When assigning a visit to the cultural center, please prepare the students by providing an in‐classroom context for the center visit or attendance at a particular program. We believe this strategy will make the experience more meaningful for the students and facilitate the desired learning outcomes. 3. Reinforce the different activities/tours/events students attend either by a short discussion or in‐class activity.

Speakers Bureau Training
University Hall 219
To register, please email LGBTQ@ purdue.edu
In advance of visiting the Eiteljorg Museum exhibit “Blake Little: Photographs from the Gay Rodeo” on February 1, we invite you to join us for a screening of the award-winning film, Brokeback Mountain. Set against the sweeping landscapes of Wyoming and Texas, this epic love story tells of two young men -- a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy -- who meet in the summer of 1963 while driving cattle on a mountain range. They unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.
Everybody has a story, and our stories can make a lot of change. By sharing our personal experiences in classes and campus workshops about the LGBTQ community we demystify sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Simply by answering questions openly and honestly, Speakers Bureaus can breakdown stereotypes and misinformation, build safer spaces on and off campus, and promote civil dialogue around challenging ideas. YOU can be a part of this if you are interested in being trained as a Speakers Bureau panel member.
