The Constitution of the Republic of Namibia

Namibian Constitution First Amendment Act, 1998 (Act 34 of 1998)

To amend the Namibian Constitution so as to provide that the first President of Namibia may hold office as President for three terms, and to provide for incidental matters. (Signed by the President on 7 December 1998) BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of Namibia, in accordance with the requirements of Article 132 of the Namibian Constitution, as follows:-

Amendment of Article 134 of the Namibian Constitution 1.

Article 134 of the Namibian Constitution is amended by the addition of the following Sub-Article: “(3)

Notwithstanding Article 29(3), the first President of Namibia may hold office as President for three terms.�

Short title 2.

This Act shall be called the Namibian Constitution First Amendment Act, 1998.
