Uniform Of Navy Vice Admiral Charles A. Lockwood General MacArthur, General LeMay and Admirals Halsey, Spruance and Nimitz are justly famous for their roles in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Admiral Lockwood was the commander of submarines, Pacific Fleet, during World War II. Admiral Lockwood thus commanded one of the principal instruments of the destruction of Imperial Japan. As detailed in the text for the Baleo Class Submarine, submarines were less than 2% of the U.S. Navy, yet sank over 30% of Japan’s Navy, including 8 aircraft carriers. Perhaps even more significantly, the sinking of over 60% of the Japanese Merchant Marine by American submarines brought the Japanese economy to a virtual halt and greatly hampered the Japanese war effort as a whole. M ......... $34,500
