Luckily, since Devin Gardner fell off a cliff statisticwise, the Predators had a diaper dandy in John O’Korn step up and carry the team. He threw for 3,117 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. O’Korn somewhat hit a freshman wall towards the end of the season, but still but up solid, respectable numbers. Jared Goff is also a solid starter, as the rising sophomore threw for 3,508 yards and had a 9:5 touchdown to interception ratio. Either of these guys would be studs on another team’s roster. Ka’Deem Carey’s early exit to the NFL was expected before the season because of his legal issues. However, that does not diminish the fact that his exit, along with James White’s graduation will affect the Predators this season. Another less noticeable loss is Kasey Karrier, the yardage machine from New Mexico. Karrier carried for over 1,110 yards and found the paint ten times. Promising Sophomores Taquan Mizzel (Virginia), Barry Sanders, Jr. (Stanford), Tarean Folston (Notre Dame), and Lorenzo Woodley (UMass) will all need to step up to take the place of the departed superstars. Out wide, the Preds are still strong with Justin Hardy and Ricky Seals-Jones returning for another season on their respective college campuses. Players like Austin Franklin, Jaelen Strong, and Jamal Robinson will all need to compete well to find a spot as the WR3 when Hardy and Seals-Jones aren’t playing. -Thad McKinnon 106
