s i l l a b e music Pope Frances, the poor and outcast, and a Mass composed by ten women

Why a Mass for the downtrodden of the earth? Because the Holy Father focuses on this painful reality in his thoughts and homilies. Subsistence, survival, resistance: problems multiplying all over the world in an exponential way. Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Women in Music encouraged ten women composers to write a new work to remember the poor, forgotten and outcast.

A Mass, the high point of ecclesiastical liturgy, was written by five Italian and five Argentinian women to encourage us all to remember the underprivileged.

“Missa Pro Terrae Humilibus” was first performed in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City on May the 9th in the presence of over 3,000 faithful.
