"Making home feel like a home"

Creating a mixed-use building with existing structure and space planning in accordance with class program guidelines to reflect upon client's lifestyle of hosting, cooking, gathering, and sharing their pieces of art and travels. The home needed to be ADA compliant for a family member to comfortable move through. I designed this space in Eastport, Maine with a view of the harbor, so adding large windows to that view was important. The client's have a small business of a fishing and boat rental so curating with touches of nautical was desired to make the Smith's home feel like a home.

A boutique hotel for travelers looking for a place that feels like a relaxing vacation and home at the same time. Within walking distance to the town and the beach, you'll find everything you need between necessity and desire. Elements of symmetry, curved arch details, and natural texture will guide your eyes towards the center of the spaces which ends up to a subtle arch shape that is inspired by the boutique hotel's logo.

Implementing design concept and elements from researching a historic style from any generation. To creating a Las Vegas hotel guest suite with the bathroom not in contract. Designers are challenged to provide an accurate representation of the interior details, furnishings, and textiles specific to the period of in history of respected selection. Designers are to keep architectural features associated with the guest suite; room measurements are 19'6" x 14' room with 10' AFF ceiling. Rooms must have one doorway or opening and one window with a required inventory of a king-sized bed, one settee, one upholstered chair, one desk chair, window covering, three case-goods, and one area rug or carpet.

26

Large opening arched shaped window with a beautiful wide view of Las Vegas. From researching the Spanish Colonial historic period I'm using furniture that will give the room its true historic ambience and create an emphasis on its dark-stained wood by the muted background of the stucco for the wall finish. From the ceiling will hang a circular, wrought iron chandelier, and a dark-stained wood ceiling finish with beams. To keep the room cohesive all wood furniture will match with the dark-stained wood. Accented with an arch shape will be seen as a ceiling trim, the shape of the large window, and a tiled, built-in, shelf above the desk. The color scheme used is minimal with reds and light neutral beiges to not take too much visual from the main elements that are meant to stand out.

27

Custom chair with 20,000 double rub, leather material, with scallop detail. Color and pattern are inspired by the terracotta colors and yellow representing the biophilic nature of the sun. Light fixtures are Spanish inspired with rod-iron material.

Transitioning military personnel going back to civilian life can be challenging without proper support, education, & guidance. It may lead to mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse. Transitioning is a whole new lifestyle and some may be objected to seek for help and change.

Creating a center that is composed with an ambience of peace and calm through color theory, the comfortability of entering the space, biophilia, and a human-centered design. By focusing on a center that puts wellness, (to ease any anxious feelings) education, (for help, information, and knowledge) and community, ("alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" Helen Keller) first.
