A Dodge Too Far Bloodbowl on the Arnhem Bridge

November 9th 2014

Venue: Spellenwinkel ‘Avondtuur’ Nieuwstad 13 Arnhem Website: http://avondtuur.nl/ A short, 10 minute walk from the Arnhem train station, not too far from the famous bridge itself. Parking places are nearby but unfortunately not free. There are plenty of parking places not too far from the city centre and there are quite some buses or trolleys you can take from there. One option is the ‘Gelredome’, parking should be free November 9th. Costs and contacts: Entry fee is €5,=. Payment should be made at the day of the tournament. You can contact me at talkfantasyfootball.org (JaM) or at GWHobby.net. Shooting an email might even be faster; jan_vd_meulen@hetnet.nl Schedule: 9:00 – 9:30 registration 9:30 – 11:30 Game 1 11:30 – 12:30 Lunchtime 12:30 – 14:30 Game 2 15:00 – 17:00 Game 3 17:15 – Awards and conclusion Rules: TV + skills - Teamvalue is 1200. You pick 5 skills before the tournament, 1 of these may be a ‘double’. Skill stacking is not allowed. You may only pick the same skill twice. At least 100K should be spend on fanfactor, assistant coaches, cheerleaders or a Hasselhoff. Inducements – Halflings can buy their Masterchef for 100K, Goblins can buy up to 3 Bribes for 50K each. All the other teams may also buy bribes at a price of 100K per bribe. No more than 3 bribes may be bought. No further inducements are allowed, so no starplayers or Igors or babes or stuff like that. Apart from players you can buy Fanfactor, Assistant Coaches, Cheerleaders, an Apothecary (if allowed) and a Hasselhoff from the 1200TV. Time - Games should last max 2 hours. Time for rounds will be relaxed, but if you see that the other players are finishing your game and you have to start the second half you really need to speed up. I reserve the right to call matches if they will hold up the tournament. Dice – before a game, coaches should agree on what constitutes a “cocked” dice, and point out any faces that have graphics instead of numbers/dots. If you’re using nonstandard Block dice, please make sure your opponent is aware of what face means what. If you want to share dice, please tell your opponent before the game starts, and decide on which dice to share. Finally – NO “lucky” dice that only get pulled out of the bag/dice box for crucial plays – it can foster the impression they’re not fair dice.

CRP – Rules used will be the CRP, or Competition Rules Pack from Games Workshop. In addition the 3 new races (Slann, Underworld and Chaos Pact) are allowed. See here: http://www.thenaf.net/blood-bowl/rules/ and for the 3 additional teams see here: http://www.thenaf.net/files/NewTeams_LRB6.pdf. The Khorne roster is NOT allowed. Additional rules - You’re playing on the world famous ‘Johnny Frostbite Bridge’. This means that instead of getting surfed into the audience if you get pushed over the sideline (NOT the touchdown zone, players pushed there get beaten up ‘like normal’), you fall down instead…! The following happens: AV 7 (or lower): the player gets placed in the reserves box because he/she/it can safely swim to the shore and be ready for the next drive. Unless you are a Woodelf (lineelf/cather/thrower/wardancer). Everyone knows Woodelves can’t swim! Woodelves lost this way are killed and count as a casualty. AV 8: The payer gets placed in the K.O. box. The fall was apparently quite severe and/or the swim was exhausting. Roll at the next drive like a normal K.O. to see if the player returns. Unless you are a Dwarf (slayer/runner/blitzer). Everyone knows Dwarfs can’t swim! Dwarves lost this way count as a casualty. AV 9 (or up): The player sinks like a brick and is out of the game. No resurrection or apothecary can help him/her/it, since the player is feeding the fishes. Players ‘killed’ this way do count as a casualty. Hasselhoff: The river attracts strange persons… One of these is ‘The Hoff’! For a mere fee of 100K you can hire him to rescue a player who is pushed over the edge of the bridge. Roll a die: on a 2+ the player is (instead of placed in the casualty box) moved to the KO-box, or moved from the KO-box to the reserves. A Hasselhoff is only usable once per game because he’s too busy chasing girls and looking good after his rescue mission. Because the crowd loves a good push the pushed player still counts as a casualty if he should have sunk. Woodelves and Dwarves can’t hire a Hasselhoff. Only one Hasselhoff can be hired per team. Sorry! Ball out - If the ball goes over the sideline, it will be thrown back on the pitch from the endzone that is closest to the square where the ball flew over the edge. Roll a d16 (or d20) to determine from which square it will be thrown. The ball flies 2d6 through the air, straight line, no interceptions are possible. If it lands on an empty square it will bounce once. Points – 15 for a win, 7 for a draw and 0 for a loss. 1 bonus points per casualty and/or touchdown with a maximum of 3 of each. Tiebreakers - 1st net TD’s - 2nd net cas - 3rd TD’s made – 4th cas made. 3 matches, NAF sanctioned, resurrection, Swiss pairing. Casualties are caused by blocking actions, fouling and surfing/pushing over the edge. Fun – The idea is to have fun. However, it’s still Bloodbowl. Dice roll, tactics fail, and Lady Luck (or Nuffle, or whom/whatever) can bless your dice or curse them. We’ve all been there. If not, maybe this time you will . I hope you enjoy yourself during this tournament, after all that’s what the game is all about. If you think you found a loophole in these rules then please inform me because I didn’t intend it to be there. Don’t forget – your dice, board, dugout, throwing templates, miniatures, teamsheet, dicecup (if you use one) etc. Miniatures should represent their position, naturally. And be painted, preferably. Cheers all! And see you in Arnhem on November 9 th! JaM
