Cartwright. “That’s why we are anxious to share our research data, and engage the public in meaniningful and productive dialogue that will add color and purpose to mortgage fall-out in communities of color across the nation. Our ultimate goal is to offer solutions that will empower people to make informed decisions that will preserve and protect the legacy of our neighborhoods and community.” Atlanta is the second of five cities that will host the State of Housing in Black America (SHIBA). Other participating cities include: New Orleans, Washington D.C., Cleveland. A final

leveland, Ohio – The Ohio Realists’ Association (ORA) hosted local, regional and national real estate and mortgage industry professionals in Cleveland recently at a reception honoring local Clevelander Julius L. Cartwright at the Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field prestigious Terrace Club. “At the 64th Annual National Convention of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) in New Orleans, Louisiana, Cartwright, who is one of our own, was installed as the organization’s 27th National President. So it made perfect sense for us to bring people together to celebrate this historic event,” said Martin Rutland, president of the Ohio Realtists. Rutland is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Several prominent mortgage lending and real estate industry executives spoke during the program touting Cartwright and his vision to lead the NAREB Organization to the forefront of the nation’s mortgage crisis that has disproportionately impacted AfricanAmericans families and other minorities communities across America. Oakland, California based real estate practitioner, L J Jennings served as master of ceremonies. CHANGING THE COURSE of NAREB® C

an one man or woman change the mind of some one who doesn’t embrace change? Can one man or woman change an organization? Can one man or woman change the practices of an entire industry? Well honestly, the answer is NO! One man or woman cannot stand alone against the multitudes of complacency, indifferences, and doubt and hope to succeed alone. Now is not the time for independent thought... but for singular purpose, individual commitment and group achievement. Over the span of the last few months NAREB has gone through a metamorphosis of purpose. We have embarked on a mission of comprehensive and aggressive marketing

campaigns and strategic PR offensives in order to bring NAREB to the forefront of the real estate industry. We have been touring the country, spreading the word of organizational unity, membership and cohesiveness through the Home Assurance program (HAP), State of Housing in Black America (SHIBA) Issues Forum, and the Vision Tour. We’ve also enhanced our corporate visibility and market share through the use of online social media, Facebook, Twitter, interactive websites, Youtube News Briefs and various print ads. “The key is to trust others to do what they do best and achieve in ways they couldn’t before. In the past, the 12 founding members fought for racial equity. Today it’s critical we intensify our outreach and

awareness efforts, restore and rebuild our communities. I’ve been asked if I alone am responsible for NAREB’s new synergy and renewed energy that’s currently sweeping the nation and the answer is NO. The truth is that one man or woman can choose to make a difference. One man or woman can choose to operate as a whole. And we can choose to change the way we do business as an organization. I’m proud to say that we... you and I, Realtists, NAREB is the realization of your hard work and dedication. his initiative is being spearheaded by Monica Butler from Columbus, Ohio. The goal of this initiative is to increase disease & health awareness within the Realist® organization by providing relevant information, health screenings and the promotion of positive mental and physical fitness. The top four silent killers of health among African-Americans are: (1) Heart Disease, (2) Diabetes, (3) Hypertension and (4) Cancer. In today’s fast-paced lifestyles, we often neglect our bodies and minds and do not take time for proper exercise and diet management. NAREB® is taking steps to add three workouts to our daily routines which will be broken down into three levels: High Impact Cardio; (including Kick Boxing; Zumba and/

or a combination of Cardiovascular and Agility training), and Moderate Strengthening and Flexibility (including Yoga, Pilates and/ or a combination of Weights and Bands), and Low Impact and/or Power Walking (thru the NAREB® “Get Moving 2012” Walking Club). In addition, suggested diet and meal plans will be provided to participants who express an interest. Dr. Ian Smith has been suggested to lecture on his “no-diet, diet” and promote his book “Eat: The Effortless Weight Loss Solution.” The best part of this is that most, if not all of these activities will be led by Realtist® members.
