Happy December, Blue Devils! It’s been exactly 9 months since this term has already started, and the year is already closing off. When you think about 2015, will you remember the countless lives of children you’ve saved, the hours you spent volunteering on a Saturday morning at 7 AM, and the boundless amount of friends you’ve made because of Key Club? Well, I hope you do! I am very proud of every single thing you all do, and I just wanted to thank you all for being such amazing individuals! With the year coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about potential officers o for next year, DCON fundraising, DCON registration, and better ways to serve our members. If you are a member, think about all the ways you can help your club grow and you will in turn grow as a leader. If you are interested in running for a club level position, please feel free to take initiative and contact your club officers or even myself! If you think you are ready and want to take it one step futher, and you’re thinking to run for Division 26 South’s next Lieutenant Governor... it’s not too late to let me know NOW! LTG Candidate Training Conference is just in a few days (December 5th), and although not mandatory, it is highly recommended that potential candidates for LTG attend so that you can be educated on the duties of a Lieutenant Governor and have your questions answered. Continue planning service projects, and coordinating fundraisers to donate money to Pediatrict Trauma Program and the eliMiNaTe Project! If you every have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me! FALL RALLY WAS MY FAVORITE RALLY By: Anton de Vera | Dublin
My experience at my first FRN was one I would never forget, I was able to meet new people from other divisions and bond with the amazing members in my division as well. The officers in our division were extremely energetic, friendly, and over all just a blast to be with. At first i was nervous that I would not be able to be as spirited or load as any of the other members during the rally, but when it started I found myself screaming my heart out and feeling pride and joy in being part of such an amazing and dedicated community. The highlight of my day in Fall Rally North was when I was able to meet and bond with my fellow blue devils, we were able to hang out and enjoy the rides together. I was also able to get to know our officers even better, one of which is our President, we were able to connect instantly and become friends. Not only was I able to make her my friend, but I found myself being inspired by her and all the other officers to become a better key club member and to do my best to be like them, inspiring, fun, and incredible people. During FRN I was able to have my Key Club moment and my love for this club only became stronger.
LIVERMORE CREEK CLEAN UP
By: Casey Overfield | San Ramon Valley On October 24, two members of Key Club helped out with a water channel clean-up in Livermore. The name of the project is The Stanley Reach Project because the name of the site is Stanley Reach. Living Arroyos is the name of the head organization monitoring this site. Along with Living Arroyos, other organizations have shown interest in investing time in this project in order to save the environment and team build. envi On Saturday morning, as volunteers slowly began to show up around 9 AM, the leaders of the project explained its importance. One reason the project arose was when invasive species began poisoning animals that were trying to create a home. This created a worry for the residents in the area and the associates of environmental institutions. Because of the drought d in California, it has become increasingly more difficult to pull weeds or even plant necessary plants. During the actual clean up, volunteers weeded out a plant called stinkwort. Stinkwort is a tiresome plant to pull, but the volunteers were successfully able to weed it out from a majority of the site. This feat was accomplished through the constant teamwork and care put forth by everyone that attended.

FALL RALLY NORTH
By: Andrew Chuang | Dougherty Valley On Saturday October 24th, many members from Dougherty Valley Key Club as well as Key Clubbers from other schools across Northern California and Nevada congregated at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California for California-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club’s annual Califo Fall Rally North. Fall Rally North is an annual event that fundraises for the Pediatric Trauma Program, otherwise known as PTP. After many months fundraising and preparing for FRN, many members were excited and elated to be at FRN. Our Division’s rally was at 1:00pm at Chabot stadium. Soon after the gates to the stadium were open, our division crowded into the stadium and fought for seats located in the front, which fortunately, we got. While members got settled in at the bleachers, the spirit coordinators began preparing everyone for the cheering portion of the rally. Raising placards to notify members of the cheer that they were going to be doing, members began shouting our Division cheers, whether they had them memorized or had our cheat-sheets on their phone. Instantly, the atmosphere of the Blue Devil section of the bleachers became energized and filled with Blue Devil spirit. Soon after, the stands became silent in order for members to hear the announcements from CNH presented by our District board. The stands once again became loud after the LTG auctions began.
Dougherty Valley Key Club officers Luci and Ashley were the Key Clubbers that helped Division 26 South buy the LTGs from the stage using the money we raised for PTP. During this auction, we used our $2000 earmarked for PTP to buy LTG Angel Lau and LTG Hau Nguyen. Right after that, the District board announced the Divisions that made it to the second round of the rally. Division after Division was called and right that moment, our Division name was called. Excitement filled the air since this was the first time in our Division history that we made it to round 2 of the rally. To celebrate, members began chanting the cheer “Flaming our Way�. Although we did not make it to the next round of Fall Rally, Rally 2 of FRN was exciting and I look forward to it even more next year!
message from the editor Hello everyone! I hope November has treated you all well- full of family time and rest during Thanksgiving break. I know that during the holiday season it grows harder to take the time to go out and help those in need, with all of the family events being planned, but it is truly important to try. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have food on their table during this time of the year, or even have the things needed to stay warm enough during the cold winter. If you ever find yourself in San Francisco or any other large, urban city nearby look around and find a way you can lend a helping hand to those in need through a small action. Whether it be buying someone their meal for them because they can’t afford it, or buy donating your old jackets you no longer need to organizations that give them to those in need. In today’s society it’s easy to believe that every homeless person we see on the street “desrves” to reside on the streets, and that they are jobless because they’re unmotivated- but that isn’t always the case. Life can throw us unexpected curveballs that throw us off track; someday it could even happen to someone dear to you. As Key Clubbers, caring is our way of life, and helping others who can’t afford to help themselves should always hold importance in our lives. We’ve worked hard this past term, Division 26 South, and I’m so proud to work alongside all of you officers and members alike. We are all leaders in improving our homes, schools, and communities and I truly believe that we have taken a grand step together as a Division this past year- growing in membership and activity. As my final term as DNE comes to a slow end, I want to thank you all for everything you’ve done up to this moment, and I want to remind you all that each and every single one of you are truly golden.
