The Editor Billy Huang With the start of school edging closer and closer, many of you might be busy shopping for school supplies, studying for SAT’s, or preparing for the rush of Club Week at school! Here’s a little reminder to just breathe and relax for a bit as you scroll through this newsletter (or if you’ve been spending your summer like I’ve been, GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER because tests, homework, and projects await you). Now, about these monthly newsletters— please send in more visuals! Photos of members participating in fundraisers, service events, etc. would help make the newsletters more visually appealing and fun to read! With that in mind, go out and do something productive and fun before summer is over! Just make sure it’s for Key Club and that you take pictures.

Spotlight On Our Clubs

California

4

This month was a great month for Cal High Key Club. We had many volunteering events such as recycling, helping out at the 4th of July parade, entertaining seniors at the senior center, and helping out at the food bank. We also held a very successful and fun fundraiser at Twin Creeks Elementary School, where we sold water balloons so people could throw them at each other! We earned quite a bit of money, half of which is going to our club, and the other half to PTP. We had loads of fun helping out and making a difference over the summer. July was a great month for Cal High Key Club

Dublin This month, four of our members made it to the monthly DCM at Las Lomas High School despite the heat and construction going on at the high school. We had a good time watching the LTGs get hit with whipped cream and water balloons, and afterwards discussed plans for the upcoming eat-a-thon with Julia. We're currently working up service events in the community, and feeling optimistic about achieving more in the upcoming months!

Miramonte This month was filled with lots of planning for our upcoming year. Our officers discussed a fundraiser with tangelo and possibly a bakesale. In addition our president even suggested selling wristbands. Additionally, our LTG spoke at the Moraga Valley Kiwanis meeting on the 11th, and we had a visitor from the Acalanes Key Club.

Monte Vista

Spotlight On Our Clubs

Monte Vista High School got Club of the Month for July for having an outstanding number of club hours this past month. Our club president Connie Ng also received Member of the Month for July from our Ltg. Julia Shen. The members that attended the Kiwanis Sponsored Fourth of July Parade had a great time and enjoyed working with our local Kiwanis and meeting many of them as well. Though they had to get up early in the morning to help out, they had fun and contributed to the success of the parade.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS Congratulations Key Clubbers around the world! With everyone’s efforts, Key Club International has raised nearly $1.5 million for the Eliminate Project! That is an amazing achievement for Key Club and a miracle to those affected by MNT (maternal & neonatal tetanus). Because this deadly disease causes excruciatingly painful symptoms (bodily convulsions, extreme sensitivity to light/touch, etc) MNT has become one of the primary focuses of Key Club. That being said, one of the district goals is for *every member to save three lives from MNT* If our division reaches its goal of 375 members, then that’s 1125 lives saved! So make sure to recruit as many members as you can!
