message from the ltg Greetings, Blue Devils! Welcome to the August Issue of the Daily Devil! TWO months of summer just passed! What did YOU do to benefit your club, school, and community? If you still can’t answer that question, you still have one month to take initiative and do something fun and beneficial for yourself and the community. You can attend the August Division Wide Service, August Division Wide Olympics, and the August Division Council Meeting! These are all great ways to be more active in Key Club and to benefit yourself and the community. I know that school is starting, and for many, it will be a stressful year! However, do not let that stop you from serving and putting in dedication to this organization that is a KEY to our lives. The beginnning of the school year is VERY important- club rush, member recruitment, and communicating with all the new members. If you see an unfamiliar face, bring them to the next Key Club meeting and become friends! After all, we were ALL that one Key Clubber that was shy at the first Key Club meeting. But look where we are now... you are reading this newsletter so that you can get more information on the division and district. Kudos to you! To end this off, I would like to give a big thank you for all of Division 26 South. Thank you to all the hard work and dedication you have inputted in quarter 1 of the term already. I look forward to the rest of the term with you! Remember to search for the three devils in the newsletter, and to private message Dabria and I. Thank you for reading! Angel Lau Lieutenant Governor

CLUB: MONTE VISTA OFFICER: DABRIA FONG CALIFORNIA MEMBER: KENNY LAU DUBLIN

Burning (in the very hot sun) With Service By: Vivian Chu, Dublin I started my morning early with a breakfast consisting of dim sum with my grandparents. The dim sum made me think, “Wow. Today is going to be a great day”. Afterwards, my sister and I made our way to the DCM. Once we got there, I was quite surprised by our number. Our division is quite small, but I had expected more people to attend. Nevertheless, I knew the blue devils would have positive energy throughout the day! I was calmly eating the very nice watermelon slices available when I saw a huge, but very cute, dog approach our area. She was very friendly so it was easy giving her food and water. She caught the attention of many red devils which led me to making friends with members of our counterpart. I forgot the dog’s name, but we did end up finding her owner. And I still very much miss her. The olympic games were very entertaining and fun. We were randomly split into groups and guess who was the only blue devil out of a team full of red ones! I’m glad I was put into that team because I made new friends and received compliments on my (temporary) Avengers tattoo. O’Captain, My Captain was one of the games I had a lot of fun in. On the other hand. Chubby Devil was the worst. Marshmallows will never look appetizing again. Even though I was burning in the heat, I had a great time meeting new faces, playing games, and petting a random dog. I came to this DCM without the usual friends I hang out with, but I ended up making new ones. So if you’re ever in doubt on whether or not you should attend an event without your buddies, I definitely recommend attending because Key Club has an amazingly friendly environment, it won’t be hard making new friends!

It is fun event full of spirit, excitement, and passion to serve while giving back to those in need. Can I go? What do I wear to FRN? YES! All Key Clubbers are invited to FRN. If your President has not mentioned it, ask them about FRN ASAP! At FRN everyone decks out in spirit wear- we have matching spirit wear in spirit packs. Is it worth? YES :-)

message from the editor Hello Blue Devils! I hope your summer has been great, and you’ve gotten the rest you deserve after a long school year. I know that it’s difficult to get back into the swing of things after summer, but service never stops when you’re a Key Clubber! As a member of this organization it is important to keep up with club, division, and region events, and to never hesitate to lend a hand to those in need. I know it may get difficult at times to stay motivated to serve, and dedicated to the community but always remember you are not alone! In the time I’ve spent as President of California High’s Key Club, there have been multiple occasions where I’ve doubted decisions I’ve made, doubted whether or not I’m positively influencing the club, and doubted myself as a leader overall. These uneasy feelings are all too familiar to leaders and members alike in Key Club International because it is a student-led organization; but whenever I find myself in a rut I always try and remind myself that every problem is temporary. When my self-reminder doesn’t work I go outside, I do something I enjoy, or I talk to friends. I am unbelievably lucky to have friends such as Angel, Kayla, Kennan, and all of you Blue Devils constantly on my side supporting me with no limits, and I hope that this level of encouragement and love never ends in Division 26 South. While our division isn’t record-setting, the largest, or most well-known we have an undeniable passion for service and our peer support is BEEyond amazing. Until next month, I hope you all remember to keep calm and devil on regardless of hard times! Dabria Fong Division News Editor
