Presentations: Short industry presentations to highlight the benefits of collaborative

research & development.

Ronan Clarke, is Founder and MD of Smart Wall Paint, winners of the 2013 Docklands Innovation Park Enterprise Awards for Best Investment Proposal. This company is a developer and distributer of a range of products with unique applications. Their original product is a smart paint that turns any flat surface into a reusable whiteboard and was based on technology developed by the research team in DIT’s Centre for Research in Engineering Surface Technology (CREST). Smart Wall Paint has continued to collaborate with the CREST team to keep it one step ahead of the competition.

Jim Roche is Founder and CEO of Incereb, founded in May 2011 to develop monitoring products for neonatal (infant) EEG brain monitoring in The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Incereb is currently in the Research and Development Phase of the first product and is now located in the new Centre of Applied Science for Health (CASH) adjacent to Synergy Centre on ITT Dublin’s campus.

Dr Juan Valverde, R&D Programme Manager Monaghan Mushrooms, one of the world’s largest and most progressive fresh mushroom companies, supplying fresh mushrooms to Ireland, UK, Canada and the USA. Researchers in DIT’s Food & Health Research Centre have been working with Monaghan Mushrooms over a number of years on collaborative research projects designed to improve the shelf-life and quality of fresh mushrooms.


Jeff Clancy, is Design Engineering Manager, in Dublin tech firm decaWave which makes fabless semiconductor chips for ultraband, wireless sensors and real-time location systems. DIT’s Antenna and High Frequency Research Centre has developed antennas which ship with decaWave product development/evaluation boards.

Oliver Fegan has invented and developed the Tempster app which allows restaurants to post offers of discounts and complimentary meals or drinks to customers without the need for vouchers or coupons. Tempster uses GPS technology to identify the user’s location and display all available offers in nearby restaurants and bars.

Dr Mick Mc Keever has been an engineering lecturer in Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) for over 15 years. His research work in DIT’s Dublin Energy Lab is focused on providing energy saving solutions for domestic and commercial applications. He has invented Warmer Wedge - a patent pending compact energy storage device that delivers major savings for water consumers by keeping water tanks hotter for longer.

Mr Sean Sherlock TD Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation and

Department of Education & Skills with responsibility for Research & Innovation will attend and officially launch the Showcase.

5.30 – 7pm Showcase exhibition and networking continues. A glass of wine and some light refreshments and drinks will be served from 6pm.
