IMIS Global, the world’s leading Automatic Identification System [AIS] network creator, has released an innovative safety and security device – the Seatraq i20 – into the maritime market. The Seatraq i20 dramatically increases the safety and security of all marine craft and smaller vessels and has been developed by IMIS Global from the extensive knowledge gained during the last ten years of developing its outstanding MariWeb™ AIS network product. IMIS Global CEO, TG Evans, explained that: “Using AIS technology, the Seatraq i20 provides craft and vessels of all types with the ability to see and be seen whilst on the water. This ability extends to all other AIS enabled craft and vessels and also AIS equipped shore stations.” Mr. Evans went onto reveal that: “The unit is a ‘Float Free’ device, which means that the AIS capability continues in the event of a capsize or other emergency incident. When entering the water the unit automatically transmits a Search and Rescue message which can be received by vessels, shore stations and satellites”.
The IMIS Global Technical Director, Mr EW Batty, confirmed that the Seatraq i20 has a battery life of 10 hours. “The i20 is supplied with its own specially designed bracket which allows for onboard charging”, Mr. Batty advised, “Those craft with no onboard power, however, can keep the unit charged via a solar panel or through wind power”. “With the Seatraq i20, IMIS Global has managed to combine the attributes of AIS technology with a Search And Rescue capability”, said Mr. Evans, “and so is of great interest to a wide range of leisure and work craft.
