s Texas’s eighth most populous city and is also hub to the tri-county area which includes Corpus Christi, Kingsville, and Alice. Home of Texas’s premier marinas, Port, and beaches, Corpus Christi is in the midst of $1.2 billion in new development projects - expansion in Port of Corpus Christi and building of the new city bridge. As Corpus Christi maneuvers through the 21st Century, this industrial city is moving ahead wi with a transformation to modern America. A blend of new and established restaurants and recreational programs provide a strong entertainment and social base for area employees and local residents.
Whataburger Field in the S.E.A. District of Downtown Corpus Christi hosts the 2017 World Series Champions Houston Astros Class AA affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks. The Hooks ownership group is headed by Baseba Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, and a must see landmark called “For Love of the Game” - a 17 foot bronze statue of Nolan Ryan, can be seen right outside the field. Arts and cultural activities are in abundance in the S.E.A. District, which is anchored by the South Texas Art Museum, Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Art Center of Corpus Christi. The North Beach area features statewide recognized attractions Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington – this legacy remains one of Corpus Christi’s strongest assets. Visitors to the South Texas Botanical Gardens rave about the fabulous Rose Garden and magnificent trails along Oso Creek. But one of the greatest things about Corpus Christi, and the thing I love most about it, is the people. I am constantly amazed at how people from all over the world come here with unique ideas and experiences and work together to create shared values and the vision for this wonderful place, for the place they have chosen to call home. All that Corpus Christi has become and all that Corpus Christi will be is rooted in their talents, dedication, and hard work, and I couldn’t be more proud to serve as their Mayor.
