May 9, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Here’s an awesome opportunity to turn your spring cleaning clutter into cash! This installation-wide yard sale at the Air Base Picnic Grounds is open to buyers and sellers. Price per table for sellers is $20. Don’t have a table? We will provide you with one at no additional charge. There is no admission fee for buyers. Deadline for sellers to register at the ORC is May 1. We hold this sale rain or shine! Call for more details.

Trap Shooting 101 May 6 & June 10, 5 p.m. These two-hour classes are geared towards firsttime shooters and folks who would just like to give trap shooting a try. The $26 per session cost includes one round of trap, professional instruction, ammunition and use of a shotgun if needed. Prior sign-up is required at the Outdoor Recreation Center or the skeet range.

Local, group river trip reservations available We have a great way for your office, group or organization to get together outdoors and just have a fun day on the river. These group trips can be with canoes, kayaks or a combination of both. The rates start at $40 per person, which includes all equipment, transportation and qualified guides. Trips can be booked for any day of the week. Due to the availability of equipment on a requested date, it may be necessary to limit the size the group. (A good reason to book as early as possible.) May 9 Take a scenic one-hour walking trail ride around historic Middleton Plantation. Encounter marsh birds, eagles, deer and maybe catch a glimpse of some napping alligators. Trip departs the ORC at 10:15 a.m. Regular price, $70; active duty & family member RecOn price, $20. Advance sign-up a must. Call for additional details.

Boat orientation class

May 5 & 19 These one-hour orientation classes are required in order to checkout motor-driven ORC boats. Advance class registration required. Cost is $5. Before attending class, boater must take a free on-line boater safety course at www.boatus.org and pass with a minimum score of 80%. Call the ORC after testing to schedule an orientation class.

Air Base po ool opens May 23 The Air Base pool will be open Tuesday - Sund day, 12-5 p.m. Daily admission is $3.50. E1 - E4 active duty admitted free. Also the weekday adult llap/fitness swimming at 11 a.m. is free. An individual idual season pass is $42. A family season pass (2-4 people) is $70. Each additional family member iss $28 with a maximum of $100 per family. Pool passses can be purchased at the ORC up to the day the he pool opens. After May 22, passes will only be ava ailable for purchased at the pool office. Bookings for evening pool parties are now open. The cost is $105 for two hours with a maximum of 50 people. ople. The Air Base swimming pool opens for or the season May 23, with swim lessons beginning inning une 15. Registration for lessons is now w underay at the Air Base Outdoor Recreation n Center. Sessions are one week in length, Monday ndayriday, for 45 minutes. There is a total of eight sessions for th he year for regular lessons at a st of $25 per cchild per session. Start times are 9 & 10 a.m. Allso, there are two Parent & Tot sessions: July y 7-10 & 21-24, 5-5:45 p.m. The cost for these lessons is $30. For additional details, call or stop by the ORC.

Summer camp anticipation growing; sign-ups open Registration for JB Charleston youth summer camps on the Air Base and Weapons Station are now open. The first day for camp activities is June 8. Full-day camp at the Air Base is for kindergarten through 6th grade and 1st through 6th grade at the Weapons Station. Camp days are filled with crafts, fitness, life skills and field trips. Fees for camps are based on total family income.
