MonoPix MonoPix is an international monthly magazine for photographers around the world who like to see there work being published. There are so many photographers among us who doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t get that chance. Well, MonoPix gives them a chance. Our publications presents the portfolios of amazing photographers. Portraits, street, scapes, or macro photography: each edition of Monopix has a general theme which can include a wide variety of photos. MonoPix is a growing series of hardcover books with the works of international photographers, releasing a new edition every month. Enjoy!

TREVOR COLE Ireland coleimages.com To capture people and landscapes and the interactions between them in the light of a world in transition is to encapsulate an inimitable moment, which will never again materialise. My own ‘take’ as a geographer photographer! Born in the City of Derry but I have lived most of my life outside the bounds of Ireland in England, Singapore, Togo, Italy, Ethiopia and Brazil. Recently I returned to Ireland (Donegal). My photography, together with travel, have become two of my life’s passions. I studied Geography at University and taught it in international schools. My photography focuses on culture, landscapes and wildlife; images which reflect a spatial and temporal journey through life and which try to convey a need to live in a more sustainable world. I seek the moment and the light in whatever context I find myself and MonoPix 2016© | 6

endeavour to use my photographic acumen to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. I lead small photo tours in my ‘own Donegal’ and Ireland but also to other destinations. I lived in Ethiopia from 2006-2010 and since then have returned to take photographers to the Western and Eastern Omo, Harar, the Danakil desert and the highlands of Ethiopia. Additionally I take phototours to Iceland, Namibia as well as travelling myself to discover and capture in new locations. I have published images in magazines, calendars and cards, and I presented to The Royal Geographical Society in December 2011 and to tertiary institutions in Ireland in 2013. Images have been used in the tourist industry, online travel writing and for educational purposes in the form of presentations for the International Baccalaureate.

I have also exhibited in Ethiopia, Switzerland and Ireland. I reached the final of Travel Photographer of the year in 2010, 2011,2013 and 2015 and was also a finalist in the ‘Wanderlust Magazine’ Travel Photographer of the year in 2013 in the portfolio category. The images were exhibited at the ‘Times’ Travel and Destinations show at Earlscourt in London in February 2014. My images of Ethiopia have been used online by the Italian newspaper ‘La Republica’ and also published online by National Geographic, 1x.com and Africa Geographic. I was a finalist (runner up) in the ‘Africa Geographic photographer of the year’ and winner of the ‘People and Culture’ category 2015 and again a finalist in 2016 and winner of the travel/scenic category. I have been published in the Africa Geographic yearbook, The Exposure Awards and one image ‘The Old Priest’ was showcased in a 2-week exhibition in London in association with Photocrowd, Alamy and THEPRINTSPACE in September 2015. I was also awarded seven ‘honourable mentions’ in the monochrome awards in 2015. An image of the Suri tribe in Ethiopia was also published in the ‘Survival - calendar in 2016 and subsequently published the Guardian and

Telegraph newspapers in the UK. In 2015/16 I have had images was published in Digital FOTO (a Danish publication), Digital Camera and N-Photo(Nikon). Most recently I have had ‘Inside some of the World’s most remote tribes’ - a photo documentary, published in the Daily Mail online and ‘Tribes of Ethiopia’ published in the Edge of Humanity Magazine (an American publication). I aspire to have a vision for tomorrow - An Alternative Vision. I believe that photography can capture those inimitable moments and empower us to make a positive change in our world.

PATRICIA ACKERMAN Argentina patricia-ackerman.com.ar i was born in Buenos Aires. I am a psychologist and I am interested in psychoanalysis. I did photograph in my youth, and I went back, in an uncontrolled way, 8 years ago, as an autodidact. I do not know if that was my profession, but I like to take pictures of people in different situations, their expressions. There are almost always people in my photos, in presence or in strokes of his absence. I like to take photos in the street, with people immersed in casual geometries, which change as in a kaleidoscope. In the last times also the nature has captured me. I have participated in various individual exhibitions, and collective, in Buenos Aires, Chile and Colombia. And my photos have been selected in many national and international competitions.

i won the first prize in the National Sony Awards 2014 and a second prize in Nikon award 2014-2015.Finalist in Zeiss award 2016, and finalist in Hariban award (Kyoto) 2015.

VINCENT LECOLLEY Philippines 500px.com/vincentlecolley Vincent was born in 1983, in Montpellier, in the south of France. Since he was young he always wanted to travel, visit the world and discover other cultures. He also always had a real passion for graphic arts such as 3D graphic design and drawing. At the age of 22 Vincent decided to leave France to live with and from his passions. He left France and lived in Mauritius Island (7 years) and Canada (2 years), and finally life pushed him back to tropical countries, and he ended up in Philippines 3 years ago. It’s in Philippines that he discovered how to fully express his passion for photography. The smiles of the people, the relationship that can be created with them thanks to photography and of course the magnificent landscapes of the Philippines are an everyday inspiration for him.

He loves to walk in the street and go to the encounter of the people, talk to them and capture their smile in picture. Therefore photography became a medium for sharing and communicating. That’s why most of his pictures are candid shots, so he can capture the emotion at a given moment and each of these pictures have a story behind it. Thru his art, Vincent would like to pay to tribute to this country and the wonderful people living here and share with the people around the world his vision of life.

MAHESH KRISHNAMURTHY Indonesia facebook.com/mahesh.krishnamurthy.980 Mahesh Krishnamurthy was born in Hyderabad, India, and now works as a business advisory consultant in Jakarta, Indonesia. By the time he was 12 he had lived in 5 different states in India and so lived for 12 months or more in at least 3 countries. He is an avid traveller and has visited 101 countries as of July 2016, some of them several times. Mahesh’s passion for photography began 8 years ago. In the beginning it was all about capturing landscapes, cityscapes and historical objects, but then it gradually led him to photographing people. These days Mahesh does “Natural Light Street Portraits in Black & White,” which to him is a genre in itself. He takes close-ups of people from different parts of the world, preferring MonoPix 2016© | 72

people in the backstreets rather than the highstreet. “It gives me a lot of joy in making simple, ordinary, unimportant and everyday people on the street look dignified,” he says. Although he takes pictures of people of all ages, Mahesh is definitely partial to weathered, tempered faces, which show experience, age, wisdom, beauty, tiredness, stress, anger, happiness and other emotions. In terms of influence, the master according to Mahesh is Lee Jeffries, but high on the list also is Steve McCurry. Check out Mahesh’s portrait collection called The Human Face.
