Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. It’s that little judgmental voice inside your head that’s quick to point out all the things you’re not doing. It’s ironic how that voice remains stoically quiet when we’re working hard…but it’s the first to pipe up when we’re relaxing, or doing something because it simply makes us happy. The same logic that advises new moms to carve out some self-indulgent time in order to become better mothers is a rule we should apply in our daily lives. The truth is, we’re better and more well rounded people when we allow ourselves to relax and play. Many of us put our own needs on the back burner to raise a family (I know I did) and it feels foreign to make you the priority.

Expect Imperfection
SWEET TALK
Google describes the word expectation as “a belief that someone will or should achieve something”. On its own, it’s a pretty innocuous word, right? As a child, we may have waited for something…. eyes shining with expectation. As we grow, expectations take on an ominous tone and often it becomes more about responsibility…and sometimes it even morphs into unrealistic expectations.
Everyone can benefit from tapping into their creative side… it allows you to operate from a place other than intellect. Being creative is less about perfection and more about what makes your heart sing. I’ve recently enrolled in a multi-media class…and I love it. This class falls directly into the category of things that I want to do…it’s not something that I have to do. I can express myself any way I please. I’m relearning that it’s okay to be imperfect…and that I can have a messy, fabulous time doing it. Here’s to rediscovering your creative side…and to the beauty that lies within!
