Chardonnay 1.

Born to be Free The 2007 Freestone Chardonnay has all the minerality and terroir characteristics that the 2006 Chardonnay possessed, but with an added weight and purity. The long, dry growing season yielded smaller than typical clusters and grapes, so juice yields were lower than expected overall for the 2007 vintage, resulting in wines with great concentration and precision. Steely, yet unctuous, this wine generously offers up aromas of smoked cedar, wet earth, honeysuckle and fresh tangerine, while on the palate it provides mineral-driven citrus, nectar, honey, and an acid structure that contributes power and persistence. Sonoma Coast, California. Three Bottles Freestone Chardonnay 2007 $135.00 Mr. John W. Lawrence Jr. & Mrs. Kelly Lawrence Mr. & Mrs. Eugene J. & Karen E. Leone

One Bottle Evolution 14th Edition White Wine With a very strong tropical bouquet, the fragrance of this Oregonian wine really grabs you. The expectation that this would be a big sweetie pie wine, but the taste was a surprisingly clean, concentrated, complex series of tastes that covered from citrus, tropical to mineral and even some fresh parsley in the background. I do like the use of 14th Edition as opposed to assigning a vintage year to the bottle; it gives the impression that the arrival of Evolution started a new time measurement for the wine world as significant as years AD and BC mark modern calendars. And it probably allows them to mix wines from different years into this blend, a side benefit not too small to be overlooked... One Bottle Roland Lavantureux Chablis 2009 Chablis is the northernmost district of the French wine region of Burgundy - so far north in fact that it is closer to the Champagne than to most of Burgundy. Chablis wine is, surprise, surprise, made 100% from Chardonnay. Because of a more simple (not to be confused with simplistic) approach to winemaking it is sometimes argued that Chablis is the purest embodiment of Chardonnay, really making its terroir shine. Winemakers in the Chablis do not rely as much on oak barrels as those in other regions of Burgundy, and many wines are in fact made in stainless steel tanks. One Bottle Robert Mondavi To Kalon Vineyard Fume Blanc Reserve 2001 This is amazingly expressive on the nose with fresh field greens edged in mineral tones with a hint of smoke. The fruit is rich and green with melon and fresh fig tones balanced my touches of green hazelnut and olive. There’s a nice waxy element tying everything together. In the mouth this starts out feeling rich and round but the excellent acids give this uncommon definition on the mid palate and contribute to an almost blood orange tone. The backend has a lovely mineral edge to it that draws out the restrained, transparent fruit that is built on acids. Belle of the Bellefon The aroma of this wine is absolutely dominated by toasty baguette tones. Fresh, yeasty, biscuit tones drive the core with some pretty golden apple and sea stone notes showing in the background. Soft golden apple tones introduce the palate with yeasty, toasted baguette notes coming through strongly. There is a fresh acidity to this wine that brings out notes of lemon curd and lemon zest at the mid palate. A nice, chalky minerality gives this wine further definition, creating a very fresh, refined, and precise bubbly. Champagne, France. The colour is a soft pink with orange and salmon highlights Fine froth forming a creamy ring in the glass. The nose is intense and clean with notes of slightly candied small red fruit, especially wild strawberry. It carries suggestions of almond and red currant jelly. Good weight on the palate. Attack is slightly acid, then red fruit are back to the fore with black and red currants. Mouth is fleshy, fresh and tender. Definitely balanced with very silky texture. The finish is lively, not aggressive, with persistent length. A delicately soft rose. Champagne, France. Brilliant straw color with copper highlights. Fine, persistent froth forming a noticeable ring. The nose is dominated by woodland flowers, apples, pears and above all, candied fruit. Rich and varied aromas, full of delicacy and subtlety. As wine opens up, pronounced hazelnut notes are evident. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, delicately sweet and well rounded, in full harmony with the complex aromas. Definite fresh fruit notes. Cabernet Sauvignon 400.

2007 Was A Great Year The 2007 Frederick Cabernet Sauvignon Blend is made up of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot aged for 21 months in 62% new French oak. Purple/black in color, it sports an enticing perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, violets, espresso, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied, dense, and youthful, it requires another 3-4 years of cellaring. Spring Valley, Washington. A terrific bargain in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers a subtle toasty oak note intermixed with espresso roast, chocolate, black currants, and black cherries. It possesses soft, velvety tannins, medium to full body, and beautiful purity, texture, and length. Approachable now, it should evolve easily for 15 or more years. This is a sleeper of the vintage. Robert Parker: 91 points. This slightly opaque dark ruby colored Cabernet opens with a fragrant red currant and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and quite savory. The flavor profile is black cherry with notes of mild vanilla oak. There are also hints of red raspberry and black currant which added to its complexity. The finish was dry and its moderate tannins are friendly and gentle. This Cab is showing well now and should be enjoyed in the near term with a seasoned pork tenderloin. The product of a near-perfect growing season, this is one of the most complex and mouth filling renditions of Duckhorn's Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to date. Blended to showcase the rich diversity of great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, it brings together grapes from some of the valley's most acclaimed winegrowing appellations and includes a mix of mountain and valley floor fruit. Aromas of ripe currant, spearmint, marzipan and tobacco lead to intense flavors of blackberry and black cherry, all supported by a subtle framework of French oak, which adds nuance, depth and dimension to the finish. Pair of Pedras Intense and bright aromas of fresh plums, blackberry, black currant and dark cherry. The rich black fruit flavors follow the aromas and are complemented by bittersweet chocolate, exotic spices, minerals and subtle toasted oak. The bold flavors resonate through rounded velvety tannins and a long finish. All fruit for Pedras Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the Ristow Estate Vineyard located in the eastern hillside of the Napa Valley at the intersection of Silverado Trail and Oak Knoll. The extremely rocky terrain of this south-facing vineyard produces distinctive cabernet sauvignon grapes of exceptional intensity and flavor. Ten tons of fruit was harvested from the most expressive four acre section of the Ristow Estate vineyard in October 2006. Trifecta of Grgich Crafted from grapes that were certified organic and biodynamic, this Chardonnay did not undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving its wonderful acidity. This wine displays aromas of orange blossom honey and toasted almonds with a hint of tropical fruit and crushed stone on the finish. Match this Chardonnay's elegant style with poached salmon, roasted chicken, grilled pork, or creamy cheeses. Considered to be the King of grapes, this cabernet shows why. Black fruit and licorice flavors showcase intense concentration and firm structure to integrate this full-bodied, age worthy Cabernet. The grapes come primarily from Grgich Hills own Rutherford and Yountville vineyards . All organic. Grgich Hills Napa Valley Zinfandel 2007 is made from estate grown biodynamic-certified zinfandel grapes in the heart of Napa Valley, California. Zinfandel from Napa Valley is rarer today than it has been historically, which is a shame based on this wine. This zinfandel is complex on the nose, plenty of dark berries akin to a berry compote. There is a dusty aspect, an iron element and spiciness with pepper. In contrast to many zinfandels that are straightforward and highly quaffable, this zinfandel makes Winston Jones think before he drinks;. Part of the pleasure of a good wine is the expectation it sets on the nose, making the experience in the mouth all the more pleasurable and interesting. This wine delivers a purity of fruit: blackberry, raspberry. It is spicy but not overdone. And, perhaps most surprisingly, it has tannic structure which is rarely expected in many California zinfandels. As such this wine could age even another 2 years and you could expect some softening and additional richness added to Grgich’s profile. Winston pleads with Dry Creek fans to come back to Napa and try something different with this wine. "One damn good wine"; Napa Valley, California. One Bottle Willa Kenzie Estate Pinot Noir 2008 The aromatics of mostly red fruits persist with sweet, ripe cherries, cranberries, pomegranates and red raspberries, and finish with a hint of orange peel, marzipan and almond paste. The wine opens up with nice, bright acidity, which leads into a juicy, lighter body with exquisite balance and structure. Flavors of red fruit mimic the nose, but with tones of sour pie cherry, cranberry and a hint of blood oranges and green herbs. Margaux, Margaux Just utterly gorgeous. This mix of almost silky, unseen power, then a powerhouse of fruit. This is relatively open for a young Margaux; there is a real softness right from the start, but in fact this is the highest levels of tannins that they have ever had. It's so fresh, and the tannins are so soft and well worked that you can almost not tell they are there. Product of France. Dark ruby purple. Intense aromas of licorice, mineral and berry follow through to a full body, with lots of grapey character and velvety tannins. Chewy. A little rustic. Medium long finish. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. France. One Bottle Margaux Bordeaux 2009 One Bottle Château Tayac Margaux 2009 $70.00 Tony & Letty Marsico Biniam C. Wang

Rouges are Red Purity. Density. Ripe fruit. Color. Structure and balance. The 2005 red Burgundies have it all. They are blockbusters as Burgundy goes, deep in color and loaded with acidity and tannins. These are wines that have the ability to age for a long time. France. In general rule, Gevrey-Chambertin shows a pretty color ruby, lively and brilliant. One notes the beautiful "legs" on the partition of the glass. The flavors are fruity and typical intensement of this name: wild ripe, black cherry. Flavors of wooded are fine and subtly married. The evolution in bottles brings more complexity to the nose, spicier grades of nutmeg and leather before evoking mushroom scents. Serve with red meats (roasted or in sauces, beef or game), poultries in stew or with mushrooms or cheeses refined. France. I Confess Proprietor Jean-Philippe Janoueix has fashioned a full-bodied, deep, concentrated wine revealing sweet notes of licorice, chocolate, espresso, cassis, and cherry. Long, dense, full-bodied, rich, and pure with enough oak and acidity to add complexity and focus, it should drink well for 12-15 years. Interestingly, this cuvee received a Burgundian-like treatment of malolactic in barrel after frequent pigeages in small oak fermentation tanks, an unusual upbringing in Bordeaux. Italian Red 800.

Due Campaccio The 2007 Campaccio is beautifully ripe and succulent in its dark, extroverted fruit. In 2007, Campaccio veers on the edge of over ripeness but there is just enough acidity to keep things in check. French oak, smokiness, new leather and licorice add depth to the rich, creamy finish. I am not sure how the 2007 will age, but it should provide highly pleasurable drinking for at least another decade. Campaccio is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 20122022. Chianti, Italy. Bright, deep ruby red color. A bouquet of dark berry fruit, a hint of cocoa and toasted almond, and tanned leather aroma. Italian Gems Dried blackberry, with hints of dried flowers, follow through to a medium-to-full body, with round tannins and a fruity, slightly simple finish, leaving a fruit and vanilla aftertaste. Excellent now, but will continue to improve with time. Today, this wine is revered for its great distinction, depth of black cherry and wild berry fruit, balanced by careful use of oak revealed in a hint of spice and vanilla. Wine Spectator 85 points. The estate’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso possesses striking depth as endless layers of sweet, perfumed fruit emerge with tons of grace. This, too, is an intense, full-bodied wine. The balance here is utterly exceptional, and the wine’s sheer plumpness makes for a highly rewarding glass of Brunello. Succulent dark cherries, spices, underbrush, minerals and new leather come to life as the wine sits in the glass, yet this remains a backward, structured Brunello in need of serious bottle age. One Bottle Falesco Vitiano 2009 The 2009 Vitiano Rosso (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese) is a racy, sleek wine that impresses with its layers of perfumed red cherries and sweet toasted oak. The wine offers terrific clarity and precision in a slightly taut, focused style for this offering. A few months of bottle age seems prudent. According to proprietor Riccardo Cotarella, the bottle variation that occasionally shows up in Vitiano is most likely attributable to the different amounts of time the various lots spend in bottle prior to arriving on the market. Clearly lots that have more time in bottle have the potential to show greater harmony than lots that have less time in bottle. That said, slight bottle variation issues here are a minor quibble for a wine that delivers so much value. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012. Just Divine – One Bacio Divino. 2001 Napa Red Rated 93+, Outstanding. The flagship offering, and one of the most interesting blends from northern California, is the proprietary Red Wine. Composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Sangiovese, and 14% Petit Syrah, it is a structured, closed, but dense, promising, rich, deep, and full-bodied effort. Aromas of black fruits, loamy soil, incense, minerals, pepper, and cedar are present in this impeccably balanced offering. With good underlying acidity and ripe tannin, this knockout red should handsomely repay cellaring. Two Bottles Bacio Divino 2001 $140.00 Mr. Paul Hart & Mrs. Stephanie Nash Hart

947.

Just Divine – Two Medium ruby in the glass with hints of bronze, this wine has a soft nose of dried cherries, vanilla, cedar and the barest hint of dried strawberries. In the mouth it is medium-bodied, with dusty dry tannins which envelop flavors of cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and redcurrants threaded with a slight hint of sweet oak and bittersweet chocolate which fades nicely in the moderate finish. Wine Advocate: 90 points. Two Bottles Bacio Divino 2003 One Bottle Bacio Divino 2003 $140.00 Mr. Paul Hart & Mrs. Stephanie Nash Hart

Turley Twosome Opened this Turley Cederman Zinfandel at an early Thanksgiving dinner at home this weekend. Decanted over 3 hours before drinking and it was the right thing to do. By the time we drank the wine with dinner it was perfect. Nose had a great complixity to it - not just a lot of dark fruit, but more vibrant almost cherry like fruit, with spice and I could swear I picked up some tropical citrus-like nose. On the palate this was also wonderfully complex - the bright fruit hit first and I think it was the good acidity that contributed to that initial impression. That was followed by the more complex flavors of dark fruit, spice, and some earthiness. The 'cedar' in its name seems to come through in the glass. Thoroughly enjoyable, and also a good price point. My only beef, as it has been - is that Turley is so limited. One bottle is never enough. St. Helena, California These flavors and aromas can only come from the Pesenti Vineyard: flowers, pepper, mouthwatering raspberry, and mineral notes are all present. In the mouth, we find red fruit character and spice with a firm tannin backbone. This wine provides a great contrast to the vineyards in the North Coast - its structure is defined by acidity not tannin.
