YOUTH2YOUTH

? WHAT WOULD

YOU DO TO CHANGE THE LIFE OF

VULNERABLE YOUTH?

In 2014 almost 100 university students were ready to spend months to find their own answers to this challenging question. Thinking together, testing, progress and self-development, experiental learning and teamwork, solidarity and social change, creative solutions and innovation - these were the most important features of ‌

YOUTH2YOUTH a tournament, where creativity and innovation meets social reality

!

SOLUTION PLANS

FROM YOUTH

TO YOUTH Youth2Youth is a social innovation tournament which aims to develop innovative solutions to the problems of vulnerable youth. We were searching creative answers to the challenges socially disadvantaged children face every day.

IF I HAD TO SUM UP THE LESSONS I’VE LEARNED THANKS TO THIS TOURNAMENT IN ONE STATEMENT, IT WOULD SOUND LIKE THIS: BE BRAVE, BE DIFFERENT, BE CHEEKY, BE THE CHANGE YOURSELF!

THE BEST SOLUTION PLANS

Taboo-hunter A training-program and campaign to stop bullying in schools. Bullying and aggression are among the biggest unsolved issues in our schools, and the possibilities offered by social media tools make it even worse, while this is still a taboo. The Taboo-hunter project aims to address this hot topic amongst teenagers, and get high-school students involved in discussions, activities related to prevention, communication c a m p a i g n s a n d p e e r - e du c a ti o n activities.

GO!DO! A board game to teach about professions to kids Studies show that socially disadvantaged kids get no support when it comes to plan their own carreer and choose a suitable profession. Many of these kids have no idea about the great variety of professions they could choose from: they imagine their own future based on what they see in their local communities, where most of the people are unemployed. The GO!DO! board game teaches kids in a playful way about professions from joiner to cultural anthropologist.

Slingshot

Mobile museum

Teaching financial responsibility to kids in childrens' shelters. In Hungary kids living in childrens’ shelters do not get a chance to learn how to deal with money which is later the cause of a lot of trouble: what is the value of earning it, how to use it well, and why financial planning is important in our everyday life. Slingshot is a social innovation program offering complex financial education to kids in such institutions. It provides them trainings, and through a social enterprise kids can get real life experiences about how to handle money in a responsible manner.

A mobile museum bus. This plan is focusing on one specific settlement in Hungary, called Kisvaszar. As in many other tiny villages, the youth of Kisvaszar are bored because of the lack of valuable and constructive freetime activites. To them even the neighbouring settlements are unreachable. The MoMu’s aim is to create a community space for children and youths where they can take part in art classes, create their own exhibition, and by travelling with the bus show-case it to other communities.

I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT YOUR GOAL IS TO INVEST IN YOUNG PEOPLE’S LIFE. I THINK IT HAS A HIGH RISK FACTOR, BUT IF IT IS SUCCESSFUL, IT CAN HAVE MORE BENEFIT, THAN MANY OTHER THINGS IN THIS WORLD.
