พญาตะกวดกับบริวารนับร้อย อาศัยอยู่ใต้เนินดินกว้างใหญ่ ลูกตะกวดตัวหนึ่งสนิทสนมกับกิ้งก่า ทั้ งสองมักหยอกเหย้าด้วยการ กอดรัดฟัดเหวี่ยง บิ ดาได้ตักเตือนว่า “กิ้งก่าตัวนีม้ ีนสิ ัยเลวทราม” เวลาผ่านไป...ลูกตะกวดเจริญวัยมีร่างกายมหึมา แต่กิ้งก่าโตขึ้นเพี ยงเล็กน้อย ทุกครั้งที่เล่นกอดปล�้ำ เพื่อนตัวจ้อยจึงร้าวระบมราวถูกภูเขาบดขยี้ กิ้งก่าฉุกคิดได้ว่า “สักวันเราต้องถูกทั บจนบี้ แบนแน่ๆ”
Lizard King and hundred of his crew live in a big hill. One of the young lizards is a friend of the chameleon. They are both always wrestling with each other. Lizard’s dad had warned his son that his friend is not a good chameleon. Time went by... Young lizard has grown bigger and stronger but the chameleon is still small. Every time they were wrestling, the chameleon often gets hurt. The chameleon thought that one day I will be crushed by the lizard.
วันหนึ่งหลังฝนตก แมลงเม่าบิ นร่าเริง ตะกวดยกโขยงออกมาเคี้ยวกินอย่างเพลิดเพลิน แล้วกลับ เข้าไปนอนหลับปุ๋ยในโพรง One day after rainfall, flying moths come out and fly around. All of lizards come out and enjoy eating those flying moths. Then they go back into their holes to sleep.
กิ้งก่าเห็นนายพรานจึงบอกว่า “วัตถุดิบปรุงอาหารมื้อพิเศษรอท่านอยู่ จงตามข้ามา”
Lizard met a huntsman. He told the huntsman that... There are many special foods waiting for you, please follow me.
ควันโหมเข้าไปในโพรงดิน All the smoke gets into the lizard’s hole.
ฝูงตะกวดส�ำลักควัน All the lizards were choking on smoke.
พากันวิ่ งกรูออกมา They ran out of their holes.
พญาตะกวดอุทานว่า “เพราะคบหากิ้งก่าชั่วเป็นมิตร ชี วิ ตจึงพั งพินาศ” Lizard King exclaimed “Being friends with bad chameleon, your life will tumble down.
