Game Dates: Saturday mornings, Jan. 10-Feb. 7 (Final games will be played on Feb. 14 if needed.) Game Times: 9:00am-12:00pm Practice Dates: One evening practice per week Registration Deadline: Friday, Dec. 19 Location: Valley Farms Community Center Cost: $34 resident, $49 non-resident The Do’s and Don’ts of Coaching Do... Be patient, and make it fun. The more players enjoy the sport, the more they will want to play.

Don’t... Yell or scream at children. It is humiliating.

Make sure players experience performing the sport correctly. Condemn your players for poor play or failure. This develops pride and accurate fundamentals. Use clear, comprehensive language, and demonstrate the described skills so that players will understand.

Continue to bring up failures long after they have happened.

Reduce fear. Humor is always effective, but sarcasm is not.

Make sports all work and no fun. Childhood is a time for exploration and joy. Let it be that way.

Use a step-by-step process to develop skills.

Critically compare players to one another.

Allow players to ask questions.

Dominate team meetings. Let players express themselves.

Be positive and convince players that they are making an important contribution to the team.

Rescue your players too soon. Allow them to feel out the situation before you intervene.
