OVERVIEW

About Us Incorporated as a non-profit in 1982 and reaffirmed in 1988, Destination Imagination licenses state, provincial and country organizations to administer the 21st century learning Challenge Program. Currently, there are 65 licensed organizations. Through collaborations with NASA, 3M, Disney, Mayo Clinic, Oracle Academy, Project Management Institute Educational Foundation, ShareSpace Foundation, Motorola Solutions Foundation, PCG Education, National Geographic, Morgridge Family Foundation, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Partnership for 21st Century Learning, and other industry organizations, DI has been able to inspire and engage its participants in a wide variety of programming that touches many disciplines.

WHAT WE DO

DI Challenge Program Destination Imagination annually develops multidisciplinary Team Challenges that are designed as a fun and engaging system of learning. Each Challenge participant will gain knowledge and experience in areas including creative and critical thinking, project management, team building, conflict resolution, informed risk-taking, STEM, perseverance, and a completion mindset—the very skills that the National Association of Colleges and Employers have highlighted as important for success.

WHAT WE DO

Celebrating Innovation and Education Global Finals Each year, teams from around the world qualify for Global Finals, the largest annual celebration of creativity in the world and the culminating event for the DI Program. Global Finals 2015, which was hosted by the University of Tennessee and sponsored by Disney, brought more than 17,000 people to Knoxville, Tennessee. More than 1,400 top-tier teams from around the world presented their solutions to DI’s annual, multidisciplinary Challenges. Participants also had the opportunity to learn from top companies through skills workshops and DI’s Innovation Expo, which featured exhibits by NASA, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, National Geographic, Microsoft, Oracle Academy and Vizitech USA. In addition, students had the chance to view two premiering movies from Disney and National Geographic and to attend special events like the International Passport Party and the Duct Tape Costume Ball. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin and international entertainment star Paula Abdul attended Global Finals to share their life stories with attendees.
