INVISIBLE TABLE LOW

INVISIBLE ARMCHAIR

INVISIBLE SIDE

Design Tokujin Yoshioka Invisible Table Low has been added to complete this collection so surprising for its aesthetic look as well as for the extreme technology which created it out of a single mould. Intended for living rooms, it was created to be used as a coffee table in front of the sofa. This first piece, one of a kind and expanding the Kartell offering, Invisible Table Low is an admirable alliance and a fascinating contrast of the lightness of its material essence and the preciosity of this solid square shape. The “invisibility” of this piece eradicates its physical presence and makes it almost incorporeal in the crystal and smoke versions, mysterious in the white and black matte versions.

Design Tokujin Yoshioka

Design Tokujin Yoshioka An armchair sculpture, elegant, rigorous, square and yet ethereal and rarefied. The transparency allows you to see through and enriches the setting without loading it. With elegance it appears and disappears. The evanescence of transparency makes you feel that you are not so much sitting as floating on air.

A piece of clean, linear, minimal design, the aesthetic synthesis of the designer’s Japanese culture. Invisible Side is a light and elegant multifunctional product which can be easily transformed into a side table or a consolle and is at home not only in the various home environments (from living room to bedroom) but can satisfy the various functional requirements of contract as well. Invisible Side today comes in two heights, two transparent versions (crystal and smoke) and two matte versions (white and black).

ONE MORE, ONE MORE PLEASE

MISS LESS

Design Philippe Starck

Design Philippe Starck

If you want to sip a drink at the bar in peace and quiet, you need a comfortable tall stool with a back to lean against. Sometimes one drink is not enough: and you need “One more” and sometimes “One more please”. The “Ghost” family, one of the absolute Kartell icons, multiplies its ranks with stools of different heights - 65 cm or 75 cm - with backs, either oval or square, but always flexible, practical, coloured and sturdy.

A rigorous material chair which grew out of a sculpture is transformed into an industrially produced household item. The seat has the strength and authority of a primitive form, a block of material made contemporary by the glossy plastic moulded material of which it is made. Ideal for both home and contract, Miss Less is formed by a comfortable squaredoff monolithic base (available in various matte colours) and a slim backrest of transparent polycarbonate.

ABBRACCIAIO

Design Philippe Starck with Ambroise Maggiar Abbracciaio is an aluminium casting of two shapes which when placed one in front of the other become a loving embrace. The two structures are linked giving the piece stability. Elegant and poetic, Abbracciaio holds two candles and is made of polished aluminium in various colours.

FINALLY ALONE

ARCHIVE

ICE

Design Philippe Starck with Ambroise Maggiar

Design Philippe Starck

Design Philippe Starck

The second candelabra by Starck is, however, made of the material symbolic of the brand plastic. Finally Alone is a transparent prism 23 cm high that works according to the law of Archimedes. The water pressure inside the cylinder pushes the candle up as it burns down.

Some people file their documents in dark cellars and basements. Kartell and Starck today want to bring them into the light and file them in a transparent piece of furniture where they become part of the home furnishings. That is how Archive was created, a rectangular piece 30 cm high with five shelves, so practical and simple and yet with a strong aesthetic impact. The Archive shelves can be home to magazines and notebooks but also to laptops and collections of small objects. Archive consists of single stacked modules made of PMMA.

A trio of transparent cubes of three different sizes: Ice brings a touch of geometry to the home while leaving room for personalised combinations. The three cube-tables can be used alone or in groups in front of the sofa or as side tables. Mobile and versatile pieces, the Ice cubes come with a white or black coloured base. These ethereal cubes so basic in appearance are such useful pieces of furniture where unbridled imagination can give rein to all sorts of mixes and matches.

ONLY ME

MASTERS STOOL

FOLIAGE

Design Philippe Starck

Design Patricia Urquiola

A new series of wall mirrors designed by Starck reflecting the Narcissus present in each one of us. The actual mirror of Only Me is encased in a slim 8 cm frame of various transparent colours emerald green, fuchsia and azure, or in the two matte classics of white and black. Only for the large mirror the versions also come in chromeplated silver or bronze. The Only Me collection of mirrors consists of two medium-sized shapes, one square (Only Me S, 50 cm x 50 cm) and one rectangular that can be hung vertically or horizontally (Only Me R. 70 cm x 50 cm) and one wall mirror (Only Me T. 80 cm x 170 cm)

A dialogue between natural and artificial reality, Foliage is a family of chairs created specifically for residential use and bears the clear graphic hallmark of Patricia Urquiola. A series of pieces that look as if they grew just naturally in plastic where the leaves form a crown resting on a framework of branches which virtually form a seat. This two-seater sofa presented in 2011 and full of personality features a soft seat with topstitched embroidery and is now joined by a smaller cosy armchair. The topstitching covers the entire surface including the back to make the most of the aesthetic effect and can be placed anywhere in the living room and appreciated from any angle.

Design Philippe Starck + Eugeni Quitllet Following the success of the Masters chair which has already become a style icon and best-seller the world over, Kartell now presents the stool version. With longer legs, the seat is smaller, but the inimitable graphic hallmark of its frame coming from the interweaving of three silhouettes is the same. Available in a range of bright colours and ideal for home and contract, the Masters Stool is also perfect for outdoor use.

FOLIAGE AND TWIG

JELLY

COMBACK CHAIR

Design Patricia Urquiola

Design Patricia Urquiola The Twig series, a family of side tables designed by Patricia Urquiola and very suitable for home use, is the natural ramification of the Foliage seating line. This series comes in two different heights and sizes and in black or white. The “twigs” are the natural supports for the table top which combines clean rounded lines with a basic look of great charm. Twig is a side table well-designed for a minimalist furnishing scheme and expressive of a more sophisticated creativity.

Jelly is a series of design items consisting of three pieces: a vase, a bowl/container and a plate/table centre. With this new series Kartell in its continuous search for new tactile and aesthetic effects once again demonstrates its technological know-how in experimenting with the texturisation of surfaces. Ideal for any room in the home and adaptable to various uses, the special feature of this series lies in the conformation of the surface material which enhances the core that looks like jelly, just as the name suggests, and which is evocative of the forms used in pastry-making and of the solidity of the plastic of which it is made.

Design Patricia Urquiola Kartell once again has fun revisiting a great classic and giving a new look to the Windsor chair. A return to the glorious past of England in the 18th century for a “Comb Back” version with a matte frame featuring a backrest consisting of seven “teeth” which spread out towards the lumbar region where they meet a reinforced hexagonal rim with slim shafts radiating down to join the seat. A goodly size, this single mould chair embodies functionality and ergonomics well-freighted with sentiment and memories. The use of plastic and the pale colours available give a touch of lightness and the contemporary to the Comback chair.

TAJ AND MINI TAJ

OUI

O/K

Design Ferruccio Laviani

Design Rodolfo Dordoni

Oui is a “neo-minimalist” table and its strength lies in its simplicity and in the proportion of the volumes and the superimposed tops. The table, which comes in various sizes, is composed of a tangent cone and a top (round and oval), the simplest thing but nevertheless complex to produce. Elegant in the full colour versions or more personalised in the metallic variants, Oui can be used as a dining table or as an important desk where simplicity is the distinguishing characteristic. Oui is a design project intended to go beyond simple form, an industrial design product where few elements can generate a family of tables.

O/K, like Outdoor/Kartell, is the new project mixing the “classic” elements of furnishings for the outdoors interpreted with materials and colours to express the cheerful nature of the product, the place they were designed for, and last but not least, the mood of the brand. Today the series is composed of a lounger on wheels and a three seater sofa with cushions and Plastitex supporting sling mesh in bright colours on a painted aluminium frame with transparent coloured thermoplastic joints and feet. The outdoor as a lived-in place where plastic is synonymous with performance and for which a whole collection of immediately identifiable furniture has been created.

Design Ferruccio Laviani Taj is the latest in the Kartell Lights family. More than a lamp, it is a three-dimensional manifestation, a luminous sculpture, a presence as much at home on our desk as on another piece of furniture. Although it is a table lamp, Taj abandons the articulated, jointed and mechanical stereotype in favour of a simple form serving the practical function for which it is intended. Beautiful both either on or off, Taj uses LED technology to optimise and minimise the light source and at the same time it is a new step forward in meeting the corporate technical challenge by producing an object with unique know-how. Mini Taj is a more discreet presence on the scene and is perfect on the night table but nevertheless makes a statement; it comes in a new colour range distinguishing it from its older “sister”.

SHANGHAI

SILK

LIGHT AIR

Design Mario Bellini A multifaceted vase opening from the base to the top in a swirling motion that projects light and energy. Shanghai is like refracted light radiating from prism-like crystals with alternating glows and shadows, creating irregular geometric forms, with a multiform and multicoloured fascination like its Oriental namesake.

Design Eugeni Quitllet Design Eugenie Quitllet Silk is a single mould small armchair made of transparent polycarbonate, as soft as a silky fabric floating in mid-air. Its ergonomic shape with its thin vertical walls closing front and sides while leaving the back free bestows a lightness and elegance that embraces the body of whoever sits in it. Kartell’s industrial technology pushes the processing of plastic to its highest levels and creates a hyper-transparent object which is both sensual and yet ethereal at the same time.

An illusionist table lamp, a suspended light that eludes the laws of gravity. Light-air is essential, modern and rational, but at the same time it produces a magic effect. Its structure is a strong graphic statement composed of a rectangular frame formed of two pieces of laser-welded polycarbonate containing a conical parabola inside diffusing the light rays. The lamp with LED technology comes in two versions, one “traditional” and one mirrored.

AUDREY SOFT

Design Piero Lissoni

ZOOOM

MAUI SOFT

Design Piero Lissoni Kartell’s collection of tables offers yet another function now thanks to the extension table designed by Piero Lissoni. Zooom has a solid and rigorous frame but the legs of bent laminate taper its shape. The frame comes in four different variations: polished aluminium, painted aluminium, painted white or painted black. The tempered glass top back-painted black or white is elegant and austere but is also sturdy and scratchresistant.

Design Vico Magistretti Designed between 1995 and 1996, the Maui chair was the focal point of design research in the nineties and is the first of a new era of single mould seats in material that has no ribbing, tracery, metal supports or reinforcements to support the back. In 2012 Kartell brought it back in a fabric-covered version (Kvadrat and Trevira) thus increasing its rich family of colours and functions, able to satisfy the specific needs in the contract sector as well as in the home. The elegant lines and its practicality make the Maui chair an extremely versatile design, just as contemporary today as yesterday

MODULAR

NIEUWE PRODUCTEN MILAAN 2012 - PAGINA: 19 - DESIGNLABELS

FLAT MOON SQUARE

While Modular brought home the most mysterious heavenly body last year with Flat Moon, it now brings a new, organic edition of Flat Moon in the shape of a rounded off square or rectangle. The special thing about this design resides in the fact that not only are the corners rounded off (vertical), but the sides are also rounded (horizontal). This gives it a softer volume together with the rounded corners. Both in the residential and the professional environment, Flat Moon appeals to the imagination. This luminaire is available in a square design as well as a rectangular one. The luminaires can be installed in different formats for a playful effect

STOVE

CHAPEAU

Modern but playful in the same luminaire. The name of Stove did not come out of the blue. Look at this luminaire from the ground up and you will clearly see the outline of a stove in the body of the lamp, with the asymmetric foot as the flue. Stove is the result of pure geometry and has been perfected down to the smallest detail. Its lines follow each other tightly and balance this robust luminaire. Stove’s special feature is the double pivot points, making this a particularly versatile and very directional spot with 370° rotation and a 90°angle of inclination. In contrast to ordinary spotlights, Stove features a very compact distance between the ceiling and the bulb housing without loss of its extreme agility. The chrome plated and matt black ring around the light source produce a special contrast and give the spot a fitting finish.

We should take our hats off for this luminaire. Chapeau was given its name after its inside: it looks like Robin Hood’s hat. This recessed luminaire is available in two variants: one for recessed mounting with a rim, which makes a beautiful contrast on the ceiling and one for full recessed mounting so that Chapeau’s subtle form is absorbed in the architecture. Suitable as an eye catcher as well as for the subtle shaping of space. As with Stove, Chapeau’s big innovation is in the tilting system. When fully folded up in its shell, Chapeau is a ‘downlighter’, you can see a glimpse of the rim of its bulb holder. The bulb housing is placed asymmetrically opposite the rim of the luminaire. However, the bulb housing can also be fully tilted outwards, enabling Chapeau to produce a clever wash effect on the walls. This way the walls are lit in a very special way.

DOZE

MINI CAKE

KUP

Modular is launching a new range of orientation lighting with LED: Doze. This luminaire is available in a round or square shape and has a stout rim in white or black with a polycarbonate diffuser. The nice thing is that Doze fits perfectly into a standard electric recess fitting, which is found in every (new) building. Moreover, it does not matter whether this is round or square.

Cake is an old faithful in the Modular portfolio. This luminaire was launched in a LED version for the first time two years ago, with the potential of controlling it with both tuneable white and RGB (with colour). Cake’s organic shape has given new meaning to the word ‘luminaire’. The diffuser lets the light spill out as it were over the edges of the luminaire. For those who like Cake there will be a smaller variant this year: Mini Cake. Cake’s special light experience is reflected in this luminaire, but on a smaller scale. Mini Cake’s additional trump card is its IP value of 55. With an IP of 55, Mini Cake can be used in damp spaces or even outside. It is therefore ideal for recessing in bathrooms, canopies, pool-houses and residential or professional wellness facilities. Mini Cake can of course be used in other spaces too

Kup is a more rectilinear looking downlighter than Mini Cake. The conical shape, which finishes in a fine edge, makes this luminaire an instant classic. It might be the successor to the other Modular classic: Lotis. Kup is suitable for universal use due to the extensive range of light sources that can be used. And its biggest advantage is of course its IP value of 55. This makes Kup useful for damp rooms such as bathrooms, wellness room or a patio

INNERLIGHT

BEHIVE TABLE LAMP

Design Simon Pengelly Can a lamp charm you even when it is switched off, thanks to the play of light and shadow that animates it? Innerlight is a graphic and luminous presence, both in the version with white bands, where light in its pureness plays the starring role, as well as in the version with a textured finish. Suitable for both domestic use and communal areas, Innerlight unveils its dual personality in every situation: a wall sculpture and a luminaire, with a graphic value and its very own personality, without ever overbearing the other furnishings, thanks to its essential style and to its serene luminosity.

Launched successfully last year in the table lamp version, Behive, created for Foscarini by designer Werner Aisslinger, is now also available in the suspension lamp version, retaining a warm and soft luminosity with the addition of a direct down-light. In the suspension version, Behive retains all its original character: a poetic and beguiling lamp - both when it is on and off featuring a pure, iconic and technically perfect shape. A particular light focus, which lights up any setting.

BIRDIE SMALL TABLE LAMP, WALL LAMP AND CEILING LAMP

Birdie, which was launched last year in the table and floor lamp versions, was just recently presented in Milan in the small table lamp, wall lamp and ceiling lamp versions as well. Pleasantly customisable, thanks to the possibility of choosing from a variable number of arms and different diffuser colours, this lamp makes it possible to create poetic and elegant compositions. For a unique touch of creativity.

NUAGE

STEWIE

Design Philipe Nigro Nuage is an optical effect on the wall which changes according to your perspective, a threedimensional picture that lights the room while creating a unique, ever different emotion. The modules that make up Nuage - with their irregular, organic shape - appear to be floating mid-air. The cross strips arranged at an angle designed to filter light with different effects avoid direct lighting: a little like the branches and leaves on a tree that shield the sunlight. The simplicity of its design, and at the same time the ensuing visual complexity and the strength of the initial concept will never cease both to astound and to charm: both when it is switched on as well as when it is switched off.

The Stewie lamp is a new character in the modern home, a brand new and unusual presence, yet at the same time one which is warm, relaxing and friendly, starting with the light it sheds. Indeed, the beam of light is cast downwards, creating a particular atmosphere within the room, which is irresistible and appealing, almost a contemporary hearth. Devised to move its pleasantly scenic presence from room to room, Stewie is ideal for the most disparate uses, with its unmistakable shape: a luminous and graphic mark which is perfectly at ease beside a sofa or an armchair, in the living room or the bedroom, or even in communal areas.

BEVERLY

Design Naoto Fukasawa Naoto Fukasawa has conceived a small sofa, recreating and expanding the design of Grande Papilio armchair. Ideal for both the home and public areas, it seats two and envelops the users with its broad backrest. And thus the name: Love Papilio. Another version of the armchair was also created, Mini Papilio. This is a small armchair that is also perfect for public areas where it can be presented in brigh fabric or leather covers. Two are the options fo the swivel base: a traditional 360 degree rotation or an automatic return to the pre-set position.

THEO

HUSK AND HUSK OUTDOOR

Design Vincent van Duysen

Design: Patricia Urquiola

Theo has a suspended, floating seat that contrasts with its base. It is supported by a steel frame (glossy chrome-plated, black chrome-plated or painted bronzed nickel) whose finishes can be coordinated with covers, available in leather enriched with tailored details, single colour fabric or bicolour colour fabric for the structure and the back cushion. This is an armchair that can convey diverse languages through its different covers and readily lend itself to customization.

The new dining chair version completes the Husk Outdoor collection. The body is in a solid white; the four legs are in white or black painted metal, while the cushions, which allow water to run off and are attached to the backrest with two snaps, are covered in high-tech fabric that can withstand the elements. The Husk series has been further expanded by Patricia Urquiola to include a comfortable dining chair. Its distinguishing feature is an unmistakable modular shell with a ‘capitonné’ design. The small armchair, is not intended to be used exclusively at the table but can also find a variety of uses in spaces outside the home. The two traditional colours for the plastic shell, white and black, are now joined by the new thick leather version in five colourways, which radically change the look of the chair. Two options are also available for the base: fixed with four legs in different finishes or swivel with four star base. The fabric or leather covers are quilted in a design that mirrors the form of the supporting shell

IUTA

TOBI-ISHI

J.J.

Design Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby

Design Antonio Citterio

The inspiration from the East is clear even in the name of the table Tobi-Ishi, which refers to the ornamental stones used in traditional Japanese gardens. The form of the table, which is distinguished by the cantilever top and bases that look different depending on the perspective, allude to those smooth stones. With unexpected materials, it blends technology and handicraft. After considerable experimentation aimed at creating a fashionable granite look, today the table bases have cores in Baydur 速 Bayer (structural polyurethane foam) and a wooden top. All the parts have been treated with cement grout to create a sort of superficial leather that recalls a history of high-tech craftsmanship.

The range of J.J. armchairs has been expanded with a brand new version. The new designs, created both in a conversation version with a low backrest and a lounge version with a high backrest and headrest, are now available with a pad in textured fabric with a diamondshaped pattern. The polypropylene bands on the frame are available in three new colours, dove grey, black and orange, and are repeated on the armrests.

Design Antonio Citterio Refreshing image and new study of details and finishes for the Iuta chair by Antonio Citterio. With a swivelling base of four star aluminium base the chair is available in a charming new finish - glossy painted bronzed nickel, both for the mesh back and the base.

MART

ATHOS

Design Paolo Piva

Design Antonio Citterio Mart armchairs, introduced in 2003 with innovative technology for thermoforming leather, are now proposed, both for the fabric as well as for the leather version, with a new swivel base with four spokes in smoked stained oak.

Ten years since it was unveiled and quickly become a best seller in the table category, Athos has been completely redesigned including its supporting structure and top design. The frames have a metal “V shaped” profile with glossy chrome-plated, black chrome-plated or bronzed nickel finishes. The thick top is softened by rounded edges and created in wood (brushed light oak, brushed black oak, grey oak and smoky oak) or in satin painted finish.

MICHEL

Design Antonio Citterio The Michel seating system includes 34 linear and modular elements as well as 5 square and rectangular ottomans. As opposed to its predecessor Frank, this system is characterised by a new slim structure in painted bronzed nickel or black chromeplated aluminium and the seat cushion offers a different comfort. All the linear and modular variations are available in two different depths (91 cm and 106 cm). This variety in the product range makes it possible to organise different types and methods of use, from formal to casual. Michel sofas offer a serene yet definitive response to the desire for comfort and wellbeing, with a frame created from elements in polyurethane foam, Dacron® inserts for armrests and backrests and down with polyurethane for seat cushions.

In 2012, Pab is expanding its shapes, colours and finishes to offer contemporary “objects of desire without giving up the minimal lines and essential look that sets the system apart. Functionality and the use of new colour schemes make it possible to create compositions that enrich the spaces in modern homes to make them more fun. The introduction of moving elements and accessorised panels increases flexibility in every situation. Also, research into materials - especially woodand aluminium finishes - results in highly expressive surfaces, able to convey a specific story to each composition.

Design Antonio Citterio In the finishes, we find the discrete elegance of smoke grey lacquer, chrome-mirror and reflective glass produced by a special mirror lamina combined with the polished brilliance of the sides and crosspieces, which makes this piece an indispensible element for furnishing the home or workplace.

FEBO

Design Antonio Citterio Design Antonio Citterio The range of Maxalto sofas has been further expanded with Lucrezia. Two versions are proposed: the first offers a seat cushion with a band and trim, the second a seat cushion with capitonnĂŠ stitching. Linear and modular in different depths, their covers are available in leather or fabric with matching trim or in fabric with contrasting velvet trim.

The latest arrival from the Febo collection, which over time has expanded both its designs and finishes, is an armchair with a high backrest that complements the already extensive range of chairs.
