Laser cutting is a technology that uses a high power laser to cut and/or etch materials, and is typically used for manufacturing applications. It works by directing the output of a laser onto various materials where the surface will be etched or the material cut all the way through. The position of the laser is computer controlled, allowing for accurate cutting or etching of digital files. If you are curious, or would like to know how a lasercutter might fit in to your current workflow, come along to FabLab Nerve Centre for this introductory session. FREE. Registration is essential. Friday is open access day @ FabLab Nerve Centre. If you would like a tour of the Lab, or try your hand at making something using our array of digital fabrication machines or meet some similar minded makers, get in touch. FabLab staff will be on hand to help you achieve your goal. Access to the Lab is free and open to anyone. Tours take place at 2:15pm. The Lab is open from 10.00am to 1.00pm/2.00 to 5.00pm. FREE. No booking required but if you want to guarantee access to a particular machine at a particular time it is recommended to book in advance.
