I am married and have two daughters. I enjoy traveling with my family. I have been a classroom teacher, school administrator, and central office administrator. I have served as a consultant for school districts, worked for many educational companies as a trainer and been a motivational speaker for Monster, Inc. throughout my career in education. I am enjoying being the Director for the DSU E-Learning program. We are making a difference in our state!

In addition to Spanish, I am also certified in AP U.S. History and Social Studies. I have co-presented at the Alabama-Mississippi Sociological Society conference. I am also a member. I have been a member of the E-Learning Department since 2005. I have enjoyed playing a role in the expansion of our program. I am excited about the opportunities we are bringing to schools in the Mississippi Delta and throughout the state!

I have previous teaching experience in public, private, and parochial high schools in Mississippi and Louisiana, as well as community college teaching experience. I have also taught at Parchman Penitentiary with the Faith Based Initiative program through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I am currently completing my dissertation for a PhD. from Mississippi State University in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in physics. My hobbies include needlework and amateur rock-hounding.

I’m currently pursuing my Masters in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Art. I spend my spare time working in my studio and spending time with my family. My mediums include pottery, oils, acrylics, watercolor, pencil, and mixed media. I am featured in the book Artists Up and Down the Delta by Elizabeth and Macklyn Hubbell. I am excited to be working with such a great program.

I am a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Languages degree from The University of Southern Mississippi. I served as a Cultural Ambassadorial Scholar for the Rotary Club. I taught English as a Second Language and Spanish at public schools and community colleges for twelve years in North Carolina. In addition, I have served as a translator and consultant for businesses and law enforcement working with the Hispanic community.

Spending time with my wife and children is my favorite way to spend the day. During the summer, my family and I enjoy participating in water sports. In my spare time I enjoy gardening. I have been a part of E-Learning at Delta State University for three years. I also teach Physics at North Sunflower Academy in Drew, Mississippi and Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Mississippi.
