WORK a challenge, especially now that I have a newborn daughter in the mix but when you are passionate about something you simply find a way to do it.
What has been your most exciting sale or learning experience since opening? My most exciting sale was my very first sale on Etsy. It was a week after I opened my shop and my photos were terrible but the woman who bought the mobile was so enthusiastic about it. She purchased it as a gift for her best friend and let me know how much she loved it. It was at that moment that I thought to myself - ok, this could be a real business.
How do you utilize social media to engage customers and drive traffic to your shop? I find that facebook is the media where I can connect more with customers to show them new products, tell them
about giveaways, and simply talk out as a mom running a business. Twitter is what I call my virtual water cooler. There I will post snippets from my day whether it be observations on parenting and funny things my kid says or a snapshot of something that I am working on in the studio. I find Twitter is more about networking with other professionals for me and Facebook is more about connecting with customers. Pinterest is an interesting spot for me and I find that it's my second largest traffic source after Google.
Can you tell us about a business risk you've taken since starting Baby Jives Co.? What came of it? I contacted a few bloggers to see if they might be interested in featuring Baby Jives Co. when I was first starting out. For me it was a risk because there was a chance for rejection, which I did get from a few of them but one blog which I really admired got right back to me and ended up writing a wonderfully thoughtful feature on Baby Jives Co.
