Account log in: Account log in page to App; as well as App information that would be shown within the Apple app store.

Homepage: Search and menu buttons: standard on each App for quick information searches.

Breif: The brief was to regenerate the Lake District, making it more appealing and relevant to the modern day younger generation; taking it away from its preconceived image of retired walkers. I have taken the theme of extreme sports that take place within the Lake District. I have developed an online magazine and App that showcases Lake district events and extreme sports as well as being interactive for users by getting them to upload their own photographs of their extreme sports activities and achievements. This allows them to win a place within the magazine of being photograph of the week/month; therefore encouraging people to download the magazine each month. The App includes an online magazine, photo gallery and route up-loader and planner; allowing people to recreate their journey for other people to experience.

Plus button: activates navigation side panel, for easy guidance through to each area of the App. (Navigation panel) underlined header reveals what page; section of the App you are on. Extreme Photos: quick link to see if your photo has made it to being photo of the week to win a place within Lakextreme next issue. Your Routes: quick link to the application process of uploading your latest Lake District adventure. You can also explore other peoples routes that they have uploaded for inspiration.

Download button: for new issue of Lakextreme magazine. 30days offer of free download. Lakextreme magazine: Front cover reveals this months top features and chance to win competitions. Once downloaded it will be stored in the ‘archive’ section of the App for you to read anytime - as many times as you like. Daily news: a small news bulletin; blog format keeping you up to date with the latest Lake District news and activities. Whether it be the latest offers in equipment or organised events taking place in the Lakes.


Photo up-loader:

Tool bar: allows you to edit photographs before uploading them the competition. Tools include; undo button, filter, crop, people tagger, location, delete.

Photo: your selected photograph will appear larger for you to see alterations you have made.

Photo selection: with permission the App can access your Apple device’s photo gallery for you to choose and select an image to upload. (All photographs will be automatically processed to black and white as part of the Lakextreme theme.) There is also an option for you to take a new photograph with the App having access to your camera device.

Uploader: photo uploader shown being used in a real life sistuation.

Gallery: Uploader: once you have altered and adjusted your image to how you like click the upload button. Your image will automatically be entered into the photo of the week competition with chance to win a place in the next issue of Lakextreme.

Option selection: here you have a option of what media you would like to upload; photograph or video. There is also a quick link to the gallery where you can view previous winners and new entries. There is also a settings option where you can alter the Apps permission settings.

Photo of the week: showcase of the previous week winner, as well as entries into the current week’s competition. From there you can access the full list by clicking on an image or video. Videos are accessed by pressing the red play button in the center of the image. Previous winners: previous weeks winners and entries are stored in the gallery archive. There is a date and a small bio information of the photography winner. The bracketed number reveals how many photographs shown within the album.

Albums: to access previous albums, click on the right hand side grey arrow. This will direct you to list of photographs within the album.

Option selection: The same option selector shown within photo up-loader. Allowing quick link access to each area of the app.


Route up-loader: Upload: once your route is complete click on the upload button, where it will stored in the route gallery for other users to access.

Route uploader: here you can upload your latest route; may it be a mountain climb, biking course, or even hill walk. Either with permission, the App can access your current location or by manually selecting your routes starting point on the map, the route up-loader will start to process your details. You must enter all main route details for your route to be uploaded, such as; starting point, finishing and route type - bike, by foot. The route distance will be automatically calculated from your starting and finishing points.

Lakextreme magazine:

Points of interest: after you have added the main details of your route, there is an opperunity to show any points of interest that you may have came across on your journey. For example; sign post- view point; speech bubble, comments; photos can upload photos you may have taken on your journey; food and drink any pubs, cafes resteraunts you may pass. Question mark for information on how to use points of interest.

Zoom: plus and minus buttons allow you to zoom in and out of the map.

Option selection: here you have a quick link option of what area of the routes section of the App you would like to access. Quick access to routes gallery - all routes, send route to a friend, search for routes and App permisson settings. Icon highlighted in red reveals which area you are currently visiting.

Using points of interest: to insert a point of interest into your route, select an which icon fits best to your point of interest; drag onto the location of your route. It will then ask for details of your point of interest/ or upload of photos. This will then be shown in the routes gallery for people to click on and access your information about the route.

Online Magazine: once you have downloaded your issue of Lakextreme you will be able to access your magazine at anytime; anywhere! Either use the directional arrows on the side of the magazine to turn pages or simple swipe the screen with your finger. For quick links to magazine features, click on the page numbers shown on the contents page. This will instantly taking you to that page.
