I’ve worked with the Judd Ranch family for almost three decades and cowmen, you won’t find a more honest or harder working family in the ranching industry. If a calf weighs 100 pound at birth that weight is accurately recorded at 100 pounds. JRI 254Y96 weighed 100 pounds at birth and I can tell you that’s definitely out of the norm as his dam’s first three calves only averaged 81 pounds at birth and her fall 2012 baby 254Z96 only weighed 74 pounds at birth. If you honestly take weights (and cowmen, Judd Ranch weighs every calf at birth,) you’re going to get a bigger birth weight every once in a while.
