Jane Meyers Receives Prestigious ALA Award and Wins SLA Photography Contest Posted on 11 July 2012.
Lubuto Library Project founder and president Jane Kinney Meyers is the 2012 recipient of the American Library Association’s 2012 John Ames Humphry / OCLC / Forest Press Award. The annual award is given to a librarian who has made significant contributions to international librarianship throughout their career. ALA’s announcement of the award, which recognizes Jane’s “advancement of libraries, librarianship, literacy and international understanding as a librarian, a teacher, a consultant and an administrator,” states that her “culminating achievement is the establishment of the Lubuto Library Project, a model of sustainable library development and innovation.” The Lubuto Library Project was recently featured here on the DC/SLA blog for their contributions to literacy in Zambia.
