fjalethuset is on the central edge of dale. it was built in 1988 and houses the municipality’s administrative headquarters and public library. if urbanity east of the river is seen as six islands divided by two roads and a mountain, then fjalerhuset would be located on the edge of the Central Island, close to the fjord. fjalerhuset has the fifteenth largest building footprint in dale (760 m2). it is the largest flat-roofed building in dale (there are eight). (there are 842 other buildings in dale, with footprints ranging from 1.7 m2 to 2531 m2 (also the largest building in fjaler municipality).)
