5/17 Last day of After School Tutoring. Thank you PTL & P.I.E. partners for sponsoring this for us! 5/22 8th Grade Graduation 5/23 Last Day of School; dismissal @ 11:20

And now, it’s time for the CARDINAL SHOUTOUT; a place for us to recognize how talented and diversified our students are! CONGRATULATIONS TO: Congratulations 2018 FLS Cheer Squad - Madalyn Blackstar, Trinity Burden, Josie Gales, Caroline Gates, Lanie George, Jaclyn Heitman, Gia Patel, Jackie Stevenson, Kaylie Thomas, and Ava Wilson. John Davis always walks into the room with a smile. He has the ability to make his teacher and classmates laugh. He’s also a positive thinker and has a positive attitude. He keeps us on our toes! Baylee Stewart is a real sweetheart. She always does what’s asked of her and doesn’t complain. She works hard and is a joy to be around. Pierce Wagner is one of the mildest mannered people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He never gets his feathers ruffled and he remains calm in frustrating situations. I really admire that in him. A HUGE thank you to Martin, Jean, and Jackson and Stolhand Heat, Air, and Plumbing for being our P.I.E. partners this year and sponsoring prizes and awards for our students throughout the year such as Drug Awareness Week, A/R parties, etc. We appreciate you! PLEASE JOIN US in prayer for Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Ware individually for recovery from their health issues. Can you spare a few hours Friday to fill in names on prize ribbons? Do you know how to work a tape measure? We need you to help at the Track Meet THIS FRIDAY! Our yearly track meet is THIS FRIDAY! This is the time each year that we host other Lutheran Schools from Northern Oklahoma to OUR campus for a day of competition and fellowship for all students in 1st grade and up. This years’ track meet will be held on Friday, May 4, and activities will be held both at PoHi’s stadium across the street and on our campus. We invite you to make plans now to attend the track meet with your kids’, cheer on all of the students, and lend a hand as we host the other schools. To volunteer to help with a specific event or activity, please contact the office or Coach Amanda. The order of events is attached to this Chatter; please cut it out and save it for Friday. On this day, the kids will spend a lot of time outside, so be sure to apply sunscreen before leaving the house, and maybe send some sunscreen for the kids to reapply during the day. Be sure to send a jacket if it is a cool morning (with their name on it of course). Our 7th graders will be running a concession stand, with the proceeds going to fund their trip to Washington D.C. next year. Be sure to send money with your student if they wish to purchase lunch or drinks/snacks at the concession stand. (If they bring their own lunch, please send it in something disposable.) If you have doctor appointments scheduled that day and need to pick up your student, please call/come early to give us time to track down your student at their current event. Student’s will be dismissed at the end of the days’ activities, so they will be looking for a ride home around 2:00-ish. Daycare will remain open after school is dismissed. TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK is next week, May 7-11. See flyer that will go home this week for details. -- 1 --

The following is a quote about Martin Luther from our Oklahoma Lutheran District President Barrie Henke in his "Lutheran Witness" April 2018 article. "It has been a tradition of mine to knock three times on the casket during the 'farewells'... I tie this to Luther once saying that when he rests in the grave, the next thing he hears will be the 'rap, rap, rap' on his coffin by the archangel saying, 'Dr. Luther, it's time to get up!'" PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: This Friday is our track meet with a lot of guests coming from six of our eight other Lutheran Schools. Please park in our grass lot so we can save room for our visitors. Next week is Teacher Appreciation week. Please consider ways to show all our staff that we GREATLY appreciate them. ECE – Daycare – Ms. Heidi: Summer Daycare enrollment is open and underway. Stop by daycare or the school office to get yours. We will fill up fast. Daycare is needing donated fitted sheets and flat sheets any sizes. Friday is the FLS track meet which will be across the street at the high school football field. Younger classes do not participate but we go over to cheer on our friends as they compete. A concession stand is available and you may send money to purchase a drink or snack. You might wish to put sunscreen on your child as well. We usually spend around an hour in the sun. Pray for nice weather! We will have a short diploma ceremony in our classroom the final day of school, probably around 10:15 if you would like to join us and take pictures. Nothing fancy, but a positive way to help them prepare and get excited about moving to PreK. This week our theme is "Ponds". Have a blessed week! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly/Mrs. Colvin: Happy May! Let’s finish the year strong! Mr. Covert: We’ve hit May! We’re in the stretch run of the school year now. I hope everyone is doing well and is ready to give it that final push to end the year out strong! Our classes are going through what we can. 8th grade has started the Great Depression, and we’re looking at the causes and lessons to learn from it. In 7th grade, we’re finishing up Australia this week. As for 6th grade, we’re looking at the late 1700s and early 1800s as a time of political and social revolution, beginning with our own nation, and then branching out into the world as a whole. I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we move into the new month. Blessings on your week! FUTURE WASHINGTON D.C. ATTENDEES: If you need to make payments to your D.C. account, please note that you cannot make payments with a credit card. We will, however, accept checks, cash, money orders, etc. Thank you.
