Thesis: Impressions In-between The casting of memories as imprints of past events is the conception, concept, conceit, proposition and. method of my thesis studies. These castings are the impressions of encapsulated stories based on remembrance and daydreams of the realm of the in-between; of the imagination. The process of making imprints leads to an understanding of the parameters that arrange a building: its construction, and its dialogue with the ground. The memories and stories of my thesis project manifest themselves in apartment housing. The apartment complex proposes a shared experience, derived from the representation of the domestic home, depicted in fragments of story habitation. Similar to how past events leave impressions on the mind, these memories in turn imprint themselves in the architecture of the apartment housing.

With a big sigh jumped out of his bed tossing the e co covers over verss asid a aside side e and walked with no determination on to the h lilliving ving room. He lingers walking around the space and then settles on the sofa. He finds comfort sitting there with postures of carelessness and expression of wonder. Silent he sat there staring at the reflecting of the moon light on the interior walls. Slowly he searches the room and stops his head facing the kitchen. After a moment of him staring at the cabinets doors, He props himself up by the side arms of the sofa and headed to one of the doors. He open one of the cabinet doors, pulled out a bottle of Old Crow, a glass and poured himself a glass full. With a sip, he heads back to the sofa to continue staring at the moonlight on the walls. As he was finishing his drink, he places it on the table and headed to the bedroom again to find some sleep..


Wayuu Cultural Center

The act of building is in constant flux; continuously being interpreted and redefined. The Wayuu live (waft) in a world of opposites which we would like to solidify (to weave). Our path (warp) will be constructed as we merge the abstract(rituals) with the concrete(infrastructure). Thesis statement: Using weaving as metaphor, the waft is the Wayuu and the warp is their habitat and natural environment. I believe patterns can be discovered within both the mundane and spiritual Wayuu rituals which. The patterns potentially create living environments where activities such as communication, trade, and community intertwine to form a communal center. Using the roads as the base and a proposed community center as the apex, both new innovation and traditional restoration interlace to create a narrative of both past and future. My project is a cultural center consisting of an internet lounge, conference room, workshops and a central plaza that ties the market area togetherwith performance space. Thus, the plaza is a multifunctional able to serve as a gathering place for festivals, performances, and food stands.

Miami’s Museum of Freedom

This project is about pain, suffering, oppression, and consequently the search for freedom. These ideas manifested themselves in the shape and stucture of the museum. The location for this memorial is on the Bass Museum block, where the old library used to be. I wanted to represent what the search for freedom signifies for those of Cuban Heritage. Many people have perished in the water not so far away from the site, approximately 300 meters from Miami Beach. I feel that there is a need to express the Cuban story of struggle for freedom along side this jewel of South Miami Beach.
