Fall 2021 brought back a more traditional sports season. We, once again, had fans in the stands cheering on our student athletes.

LCA GIRLS GOLF

In September, the LCA Girls Golf Team won the All "A" State Tournament, their third in a row! The team went on to being the Region 9 Tournament RunnerUp with Mary Keene Marrs, C.A. Carter, Carter Lankford, and Maryssa Phillips qualifying for the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac State Tournament. At the state championship, C.A. Carter placed 11th; Mary Keene Marrs placed 13th; Maryssa Phillips placed 33rd; and Carter Lankford placed 54th out of 140 golfers.

The LCA Boys Golf Team won the All "A" State Tournament with four golfers placing in the top five individually: McKean Collins (1st); Luke Barrett (2nd); Grey Goff (3rd); and Jake Merryman (tied 5th). The team also was the Region 9 Tournament Runner-Up with three golfers qualifying for the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac State Tournament. At the state championship, McKean Collins placed 15th; Luke Barrett placed 34th; and Grey Goff placed 45th.

The LCA Boys Soccer Team had five members named to the All-City Team: Zach Workman (1st Team); Andrew Dobbs (2nd Team); Aaron White, Grayson Collins, and Patrick Duff (Honorable Mention).

The LCA Girls Soccer Team won the All "A" Region Tournament and went on to be the All "A" State Tournament Runner-Up. Hayden Hart, Caroline Hensley, Hadley Whipple, and Marin Wills were all named to the All "A" Statewide All-Tournament Team.

The LCA Boys and Girls Cross Country had another successful season with the girls' team winning their 8th consecutive Class 1A Region Championship and then going on to win its first ever KHSAA Cross Country 1A State Title! The team and coaches were honored with an Eagle Walk on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at both the Rose and Immanuel Baptist Church Campuses. They walked the hallways with their trophy and banner as students, teachers, and staff cheered them on and celebrated their accomplishment.

The 2021 KHSAA Class 1A State Cross Country Team Champion LCA Varsity Girls Athletes are: Lilianne Hutchison (11th grade); Hannah Seamands (11th grade); Emma Clare Doepke (10th grade); Lily Frost (9th grade); Annalise Randles (8th grade); Annie Sewell (8th grade); and Anna Dawahare (7th grade). Coaches are: Tom Stickel (Head Coach); Raymond Hayes (Asst. Coach); Adam Huff (Asst. Coach); and Allison Lyon (Asst. Coach).

LCA BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

The LCA Boys Cross Country Team placed 7th overall at the 1A Region Championship. Shaun Ware (9th grade) earned an individual invite to KHSAA State Cross Country Meet with his 13th place finish which also garnered him 2nd Team All-Region Honors. Also, Noah Davis (10th grade) ran his personal best time.

LCA VOLLEYBALL

The LCA Volleyball team took 2nd place at the Glacier Invitational Tournament in August and was the All "A" Region Runner-Up. Lauran Barber and Tucker Patterson received All City Honorable Mention.

The LCA Football Team had an incredible fall and ended the regular season undefeated. They went on to defeat Washington County, Danville, Owensboro Catholic, and Middlesboro in the playoffs to earn a spot in the Class 2A 2021 UK Orthopaedics State Football Finals. Our team fought hard but came up a little short and lost 23-21.

ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

Keith Galloway and Eric Geldhof were inducted into the LCA Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, October 22, 2021.

Coach Galloway served as LCA's Head Baseball Coach from 1999 to 2017. During those 19 seasons, he amassed a 348-209 record. His teams won: 6 District Titles 2 Region Titles 5 All "A" State Championships 1 KHSAA State Championship (2005) (LCA is still one of the smallest schools to ever accomplish that feat.)

In its 37th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade announced that LCA senior, Xavier Brown as the 2021-22 Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year. Brown is the first Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year to be chosen from LCA.

Coach Eric Geldhof has been the LCA Boys Golf Coach since 2003, a position he still holds today. His teams have won: 3 KHSAA State Championships 1 KHSAA State Runner-Up Finish 7 All "A" State Championships 11 Regional Championships 2 Middle School State Championships More than 75 tournament wins
