Shawn Koontz plays Frisbee with friends in Monument Square Wednesday. Temperatures yesterday reached 50 degrees in Portland, according to the National Weather Service. These springlike temperatures fell short of a daily high of 68 degrees set in 1974, the weather service reported. Today, however, forecasters expected a daily record of 56 degrees, set in 2010, to be shattered, when a high close to 60 degrees is expected. Temperature records go back to 1940.
