The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum Launches Major Art Competition to Get Coventry Creating! As part of the forthcoming free ‘I woz ere’ exhibition taking place at the Herbert from 18 November – 11 March, George Shaw is giving away one of his extraordinary original watercolours. Those wishing to enter the competition have been challenged to create a piece of art depicting their favourite Coventry landscape. The artworks can be in any medium that the entrant wishes to use; from photography, paint
and sculpture, to mixed media, knitting or collage and everything in between. The competition will also be encouraging Coventry schools to get creative as part of this unique opportunity. Along with the artworks, entrants will have to write 200 words about what their landscape means to them and why they chose to create it. To enter entrants need to download and fill out an application form and return it to the gallery by the 16 January, 2012. Entrants should visit www.theherbert.org to download the forms.
Entries (completed artwork) will then need to be submitted on Saturday 11 February 2012 between 10.00am and 3.00pm at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum. Short listed entries may be used for marketing and promotional purposes and may also be included in a forthcoming exhibition of the best entrants work. Work that is not selected for the exhibition should be collected by the artist on Saturday 18 February 2012, 10.00am – 3.00pm. The decision of the judges is final
